So many groovy spies....even more groovy scores. Turns out Goldsmith had a few sexy guitar riffs up his sleeve too! Once Flint was in, he had a brilliant bossa nova love theme in the wings for the sequel. OUR MAN FLINT and IN LIKE FLINT are two of the sixties swingingest records!

Jerry Goldsmith's great versatility and range are demonstrated in this soundtrack - very 60's!

This music is cooler than a lighter with 82 functions. 83, if you wish to light a cigar.😉

One of my favorites scores by Goldsmith. There are recordings of his complete sessions for the recording of Our Man Flint with variations of themes he wrote for the film. Love to find them.

The 1960s marked the peak of “spy-cinema”, mostly accompanied with the freshest and rhythmical music to spy with!
“Our Man Flint” (1966), starring James Coburn as agent Derek Flint would be an entertaining example of those 60s spy-movies, accompanied with music by the new kid in town, Jerry Goldsmith!
Let’s take a listen to his groovy tracks for “Our Man Flint”. Enjoy!

Thanks for sharing another great score Fred. I always thought in the 1970s & 80s when John Barry was unavailable, it was a no brainer to get Jerry Goldsmith to compose those Bond scores. I think Goldsmith would have been a much better choice than George Martin, Marvin Hamlisch, Bill Conti or Michael Kamen. Thanks again Fred.

One of the most ebullient, fun scores of the sixties - maybe ever. Thanks for starting my day with it!

Hello, Fred!! Very much in the style of the 60s, with a great jazz extent, touches of typical music from other countries ( France, Japan, Cuba, Brasil ), excellent string work and a very particular preciousness in instrumental effects, achieving prominence at a time of very notable, such as Schifrin, Mancini, Barry, Jobim... Very good and promising!! Bye!!

I had this on a cassette soundtrack compilation back in the early 1970s. Probably cover versions. I got to experience the theme several years before I eventually saw the film when it was shown on TV, so it was amazing and weird to finally put a film to a theme I knew so well!

Nothing spells a great weekend like the arrival of another score by the maestro Jerry Goldsmith. Typical of the mid to late 1960's with the mod musical sensibilities but oh, those strings and winds! (and that gorgeous bass from A Bite of Your Apple) The accordion (?) and percussion lend a certain Euro feel. Alas, I have never seen the film so I don't know about the scene with this track. Thanks Fred, this was fun!
Edit: I answered my own question and removed it. Also, great music for painting war gaming miniatures.

The only rival to James Bond and the music for both films was inspired, still a great listen.

    Grazie Fred❤👍🏻
    Grande Jerry Goldsmith❤👏🏻

I say they ought to remake Our Man Flint with the special effects they have now

They'd find a way of ruining it. Probably politicising it. That said.... there is now a global super power scare mongering us (with the weather and climate)🤦‍♂️.

I say some things need to be left as-is. Remakes ruin so many movies. They'd not have Coburn for openers, and the simplicity of effects means the story and the acting have to carry it. The original did all that quite well.

He is better than James bond but this is a James bond film itself.
