Love Tora Tora Tora and love the soundtrack! It's foreboding and eerie and love the Japanese instruments in it. Jerry Goldsmith is awesome!
He certainly was.
Born in 1971 this film was introduced to me by my father in late 70s it was one of his favorite films great score by Jerry goldsmith
Thumbs Up for Jerry GOLDsmith.... !
I really wish I could find the full ost
Those quieter tunes with the almost muted yet foreboding percussion just hit me with this specific feeling of "some vital piece of information is definitely missing here"
The whole soundtrack is dreadfully under rated
I couldn't agree more! Not only the incredible contrapuntal writing in the opening credits but so much more. For me, particularly striking is "Chattanooga Choo Choo" superimposed over the foreboding percussion the night before the attack.
Captures the mood perfectly. The world has never been the same since this event.
OMG. What a Soundtrack. Jerry Goldsmith was f…g great !
Excellent Score by the great one Jerry Goldsmith. Thanks. Out.
8:28 Pre Flight Scene.
Best war movie EVER!
Well, it's good, but I'd give the "BEST" to Patton, also (not coincidentally) scored by Goldsmith.
Incredible intro,im searching a katana and a zero just now...
Magnificent 👏👏👏
great film great music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto: I had intended to deal a fatal blow to the American fleet by attacking Pearl Harbor immediately after Japan's official declaration of war. But according to the American radio, Pearl Harbor was attacked 55 minutes before our ultimatum was delivered in Washington. I can't imagine anything that would infuriate the Americans more. II fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve.
Great Cast and Music and Epic this Film presented
Never truer words said. A very wise and intelligent man
Keeping in mind the final result of the war that this surprise attack helped to start, I think it's safe to say that Dec. 7th 1941 is one of the most fateful days in Human history.
Yamamoto: I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve
Love the opening theme
Also check out the score to "The Challenge" JG was the master, infusing all different music styles in a unique and original way. Sorely missed. Buy the CD then turn it up full blast in a car.. it's quite the experience!! I wish there were composers like him around today, but the system doesn't promote that kind of creativity balanced with business anymore
The Challenge is another great score by the master Jerry Goldsmith. I've got it. Thanks. Out.
@@TIOMKIN1 Found someone else in the world who knows it.. it's amazing masterpiece in dramatic east-west film scoring JG must have been really inspired by the idea of the movie.
@@TB1M1 I agree 100%. Out.
5:42 "tora tora tora"
This by far is my favorite Navy movie on the story of December 7 1941. and So much more better than that piece of crap they made called Pearl Harbor..... This movie is far more accurate to the story of what really happened at Pearl that Sunday morning.
This and Midway(2019) both portrayed the Attack of Pearl Harbor really accurately👍
Estupenda banda sonora.
Got that oriental backing mixed with that "Planet of the Apes" off beat discord Jerry Goldsmith was using in the late 60's into the 70's.
one of my favourite movies.
Yes
3:03. Saburo Kurusu signs the Tripartite Pact, making Japan officially ally of Germany and Italy
Sitting with the Devil and signing your countrys life away
Excelente soundtrack
Exelente
This is wonderful to fall asleep to
it kept me awake. the useless moden version made me fall asleep
*LA MEJOR PELICULA DE GUERRA DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS*
muy wena!!!
Does anyone hear parts of this score that are very similar to The Planet of the Apes (1968)?
Maybe because Goldsmith composed both scores? Classical composers tend to have a sound unique to themselves. A good example is Danny Elfman.
Indeed. Goldsmith had a very distinctive percussive style in the 1960s.
Jerry Goldsmith vs Hans Zimmer
Richard Fleischer vs Michael Bay
Jerry and Richard winns!!!👍😉
💯💯💯💯💯
What is the second instrument to state the fugue at the beginning? What is that sound? Is it a "Horagai" conch-shell?
Some soundtrack like from horror movie (not all)
But its World war 2 pacific movie
bombdigity
How about in another countries? Please tell me
❤🇺🇲🇯🇵💥👏🏻😍
For me, hearing the brass represents the mighty force that was the Japanese Navy and the solemnety of the moment.
Hans Zimmer should've taken cues from this soundtrack.
Zimmer are not able to compose such complex Scores. Goldsmith: Master of the Master!
I have seen the movie Tora,Tora,Tora about 5 times when I was in the Navy on all three of my Westpac cruises and my second Mediterranean cruise in 1973. The movie was great, but like always World War II movies about the war in the Pacific is, always has been vastly underrated for no reason while Patton was way too far overrated and so was Catch 22 which was garbage.
