Our Man Flint Action Sequence

- This is my favorite action sequence from the 1966 American spy flick parody, Our Man Flint. The reason is simply the combination of James Coburn, the antithesis of the Sean Connery model in style and looks for such a film, and the wonderful Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack. The former performs most of the action in the sequence, including the 4-story latter climb that is done with the actor's trademark lanky grace. The latter should definitely be praise for coming up with splendid tracks for the film that both mimiced John Barry's OO7 music, but made them distinctly his own.

Couldn't stop watching this as a kid love it, my mom would smile at me with a funny grin, never new why till i got older LOL. LOVE YOU MOM, thanks for letting me be a kid.
plus, I loved the music, when Flint climbs the ladder .
the guitar riff when Flint climbs the ladder is perhaps the best background music ever! And you can really tell it's Coburn climbing the ladder, it's awesome.
Exactly. The key part of the sequence, for sure.
Quintessential Flint
the best flint song of all time
Mike Tyson training tribute
Never has a man climbing a ladder been so exciting!
The power of music.
👏 BRAV-OOOOO ☆☆ JERRY GOLDSMITH'S ☆☆ truly thrilling Kick-Ass Music. Yes, that guitar riff is impressive but no less than ☆ Shelly Manne's ☆ magnificent drums!
[ And we dearly doubt, for insurance purposes, ◇ Mr. Coburn ◇ would've been allowed to climb that scaffold, tho we've sure he complained like hell 😂 about it! ]
《 Also, can you imagine ANY contemporary director who would've filmed 🎥 that climb with just the tracking shot and ♤ Goldsmith's ♤ music ? 🤔 Outside of ♧ Michael Mann ♧, we can't. 》
Most amazing music cue, ever.
Superb action sequence, I have this score on CD as well as In like flint, the piece is called 'youre a foolish man Mr Flint' the only section missing is when Flint enters the double doors to fight MalcoIm Rodney, which is a short cue but bad ass.
I wish Austin Powers had given Flint more props than the ringtone. This is really masterful tongue-in-cheek parody of the Bond genre.
Used to go to the regent theatre in bedstuy as an adolescent, and the movies in times square, and absolutely loved all the mid sixties movies! Halcyon Days🤗!
Great memories when i was kid
I thought this was the best movie out there
Yes, it is true that Coburn in real life, was a student of Bruce Lee in the art of Jeet Kune Do. It is very surprising to see elements of this sequence clearly being emulated in the Lee 1973 film "Enter The Dragon", with the underground cavern fight scenes and the metal false hand; both ideas of which were clearly used by Lee to the next level. Obviously Lee had seen this movie somewhere and decided to use many elements in his own film!
I'm not even sure I'd call it a parody - Flint was to American class what Bond was to English. Each of them took classic virtues of the country and played them to extreme.
Coburn was not happy about the ballet jump everything he did possible but that and he said it put him off making any more Flint films.
Glad to see he put that training from Bruce Lee to good use.
I love how a couple of swords just happen to be lying there.
2:22 OMG it’s Britt vs Devon Miles!
Too bad they only made two movies!!! Flint was awesome!!!!!
A third Flint film was in the works but Coburn flatly turned it down!
@@deacondavis5098 To be fair the first was excellent, the second not so much.
@@VideoArchiveGuyThe Music saved the second film.
yes both flint movies had great fight scenes the best one was in like flint were they fight in the govt building were the burn documents holds up very well even for today's standards
Better then James Bond and this was a PARODY!
When this was made he may not have been training with master Lee I believe the fights may have been set up by Bruce Tegner.
Gina Golan 🔥 WOW
That bad guy is pretty tough. He survived being electrocuted fell down a great distance and still got right back up! However if it had been Bruce Lee that delivered that Karate chop to neck he would have died of a broken neck. (Provided the script writers put that in. LOL!!!)
Remake of "OUR MAN FLINT" (action-comedy) starring JEFFREY DONOVAN. Or the other version (only action) starring JIM CAVIEZEL. Adapted to our crystal times.
They have remade Charlie's Angel they have remade the Man from Uncle they have even remade the Wild Wild West why won't somebody remake Our Man Flint
Who do you see playing Flint?
@@ashleighjaimaosborne3966 NO ONE!!
Hopefully not, David.
In the current film climate and the fact that the aforementioned remade titles sucked, the powers that be would cast a woke wuss actor to play Derek Flint; one of his four Playmates would have to be a guy;.the marvelous 82 --function cigar lighter ( 83 if you wish to light a cigar) would possibly be banned so as to discourage tobacco use ; pronoun usage would no doubt be enforced; and Flint's libertarian bent would be extinquished to make way for Progressive tirades and sloganeering.
If these conditions could be absent or even better, eliminated,.the remake could be a lot of fun!
@@r.davidjudah5281 you are absolutely right mini TV shows and movies made back in the day could not be made now because of canceled culture
I've actually done this before!
James Coburn trained with Bruce Lee.
One of Bruce Lee's students
So bad ,that it's good. 007 on the cheap.
Who could play Flint
How about John Krasinski as Derek Flint and Steve Carell as Mister Kramden head of Z.O.W.I.E.
You are not a pleasure unit...
1:14 Lamest parkour ever! haha
Flint. DEREK Flint.
