Believe me, I find it irritating when people destroy any perfectly good vehicle, but the one in the video was already a beater to begin with, and wouldn't sell for cheap on Cragslist if it were perfectly sound.
I've been working on cars for 16 years and I didn't hear any odd noises from that engine. The truth about all this is they know the people that work at this shop and thought it would be cool to crush a pt cruiser that some customer probably abandoned there. my mom bought one of the first ones to make it to the dealers back in 01, her only new car to date. turned out to be nearly completely trouble free for almost 250k miles. the only failure? the radiator fan motor seized up and broke the fan blade into a hundred pieces. that car was painfully slow, got horrible fuel mileage and ate brakes like no ones business but it was ridiculously practical, quite comfortable and for my parents (older generation), they became part of one of the numerous PT Cruiser clubs around the country. this allowed my late father to connect to other Vietnam veterans which allowed him to finally talk to people about the mental issues that came with soldiers from that war and was a massive burden off his chest. for that, even though those cars were quite crappy, i have a big soft spot in my heart for the late PT Cruiser.

it's a hatchback, driving over it would damage the hummer and clearly there was a gopro attached to the back so he never intended to run over the entire thing.
The Hummer is a Hummer. It's a military war vehicle with a couple civilian-friendly features, deserving respect for its military heritage and capabilities. And on a personal note, I love its big, powerful, boxy look.
But the PT Cruiser drove afterwards. It was crushed beneath the wheels of the American military machine, and still started and moved forward. Despite its small size, it survived all that was done to it and kept rolling. To me, that PT Cruiser shows great honor in its own way, through its sheer determination!

Zomgdevil That's an interesting thought, haha. A lot of the times, it just looks like DIY stuff, like they tried to spruce up their interior, usually with spray paint. They also don't bother to remove the interior pieces to paint them (or prep them, or anything) so there's overspray everywhere and paint drippings and it just looks vile lol

Make fun of them all you want, but I owned one for 7 years, a 2005 model and only got rid of it at 175,000+ miles. Up to that point, other than oil changes and brakes a couple times, along with a BCM replacement...I had no other real repairs. And that included when I rear ended a Quest minivan. Completely removed the entire hatch of the Quest and shoved her into the pick up truck ahead of her, totaling her car I was told...and drove the PT home. The only real damage was the radiator got a small hole in it from the T-bar that helped support the grill when it got pushed back. So make fun all you want, at least mine was an extremely reliable and comfortable car to drive. And I have NEVER had a car for that length of time or that many miles before. So make fun of them, they were very capable cars.
