CHECK OUT CARS & BIDS carsandbids.com I owned my Hummer for a year -- and now I'm saying goodbye. Here's what it was like to own a Hummer for a year. Doug DeMuro
Considering the amazingly different and great cars you and the community pick, I will definitely love the upcoming videos :D Btw consider the audi rs6 c7.
+Doug DeMuro What is it with you and cars? You're always calling a tow truck ? This hummer thingy then an austin martin . Do you think maybe You're buying the wrong cars? I have a very unfun unsexy old ford truck with a 150k and I have only had it towed once when I blew the timing chain. I've been driving it for 15 yrs. My only real maintenance cost has been tires and the front end suspension. Oh yea and two leaf springs but I did drive it with broken leaf springs.
writerconsidered Cars that he'd previously bought i.e Aston, Skyline, Hummer were all investments for his channel. These videos helped him garner a considerable number of audiences. This is how he really went to become so massive : )
I recently came across your channel & I think the way you review the vehicles is really fun filled unbiased down to earth kind of way, which actually connects to a lot of people. And goodbye yellow not so little Hummer!
As an owner of a Deuce and a half (M35a2) I find your reference to size and speed amusing. My daily driver is a Fiesta and is light years ahead in driveability but in the country sometimes you just need a Deuce.
Doug, oh Doug. I watch your Hummer videos with a mixture of joy and sadness. Sadness because you don't embrace this amazing machine's nuances as character befitting the best truck ever constructed. Joy because you actually did seem to enjoy owning it. My hummer has all of the modern creature comforts but also has some of the character of yours. I have heated seats, backup cameras (3D actually) leather interior and much more - but the mileage, the noise, the looks and sneers I get are all part of why I love my amazing machine. When I die, I've asked that I be given a viking funeral in my Hummer.
My buddies Vet dad who lives on Miami beach, he drives a legit military hummer. Snorkel, stack exhaust, desert colored, all its size and it only had 4 seats because the middle is taken up by the transmission being tucked up for ground clearance
Yep, that's the good one to own. Plan B Supply sells refurbished Military Humvee's for as low as $28,000. Or you can buy them on govplanet.com for as low as $5000 at auction. But you're looking at a TON of work to restore them. Better off letting somebody with experience do the work, such as Plan B. You'll have more of a like-new vehicle from them. Put Amsoil throughout the entire drivetrain and maybe you can squeak out an extra 1 or 2 MPG.
about 50% of those problems would've easily been solved with an LML Duramax Diesel swap. with more than twice the horsepower and torque, and the latest in diesel emissions and economy technology, it would have been much faster and have given you far better fuel economy, as well as being quieter and more reliable. but we'll never know what that's like now. too bad
I totally agree with you. He pretty much said the hummer was shit because of the chevy 350 hes got to be dumb to know it aint a hummer unless it sounds like a hummer. Should have bought the h2 to do a gas mileage test. It would have suited his level of brain power much better anyways lol
"The H2 was built under contract by AM General at a specially constructed plant in Mishawaka, Indiana, USA. The H2's final frame assembly is made up of 3 sections: The front uses a modified GM 2500-Series utility frame, the midsection is all new and is completely boxed, and the rear section uses a modified GM 1500-Series frame which is upgraded for the 8,600 pounds (3,900 kg) gross vehicle weight." basically, yes. there are few differences other than the center section (chevy trucks share the same chassis with the SUVs)
+semiautoriflelover1 first, it's a Cummins. second, there are only a few pieces of equipment that have a Cummins (source: I'm a mechanic in the military)
I got into your videos fairly recently and watched all the RUclips videos you made with the Hummer before RUclips recommended this one. They knew I was invested and had to kill me slowly. I’ll miss the Hummer. You should’ve put a sticker on the side that said “PT Crusher”. That would’ve been great.
Ah, the Hummer, I found you, Doug, in your PT crushing video, so, the Hummer holds a little place in my heart. Goodbye, you stupid big bird looking car, you'll be......a Hummer.
Caleb Pechumer I'll give you that 50's and 60's look the best but for me I needed something a bit more practical because it's my daily driver in the future I would love a split window 50's but for know I love my super, plus the bigger engine helps and I got the 71 before they changed the interior and tail lights
+cars67833 me and my dad built an 1815 motor for mine so it's pretty dang zippy haha, all beetles are sick but if we're gonna compare them here... Ya know.
Hello Doug Demuro, I am very fond of a collection of your works that you make on youtube about cars My hope, you discuss the first-generation Acura NSX then compared with the latest release Thank you very much Doug, you work very brilliant !!! GOOD JOB MAN
I really love your videos. Your goofy humor and upbeat attitude are some of what is missing from the world today. The only ironic downside is that you probably work and don't have the time to put out a video every day like we would all love lol keep up the great videos and clever ideas
I worked on the first gen civilian version... one guy said there was a rubbing noise, and I found the gas tank strap had come loose and the tank was touching the drive shaft. Had a friend who was REALLY into Hummers, but she lost interest after the H3 and went to a Cadillac. It was so hilarious seeing a 4 foot 9 girl climb into that thing! Too bad about the PT Cruiser, as it did everything better than the Hummer except go off road and climb other cars. We have eight cars in the family now, and my wife's PT drives and rides nicer than our Lincoln LS...
Save up and buy one. I think they are junk but this is a free country so you can get what you want and I can get what I want. To be honest, I think they will be collectable some day because they are so obnoxious and aren't being made anymore. Tell your wife it is an investment.
get a milsurp hmmwv, assuming you're in the US you can then take it to a state that has minimal requirements for a roadworthy title and get it certified there. milsurp humvees are better since a lot of the civvie hummers have petrol engines which have poor performance. The only problem is that the interior is spartan - there's no creature comforts like airconditioning (unless you install it yourself), leather interior and sound insulation etc. all these you'll have to do. It's a pretty interesting DIY project.
I got a ride in a Hummer once and was very surprised by how badly it drove. You're right it was loud as fuck and it took up the entire lane so if you drifted left or right even a little you'd crush the car next to you or plow into the cars parked on the shoulder. That one ride convinced me never to buy one. Other people who have made videos on their new Hummer purchases also confirm that the car breaks down all the time.
Doug, what were the things that specifically made the Hummer hard to maintain/ be reliable? Since it was made before all the electronic gizmos and had a Chevy 350.......was it things like brake pads, rotors, bearings, suspension?
the black iroc is a 88-90 if she is all original! 3rd brake light is in the spoiler so 87 and up. these iroc wheel were introduced in '88 till 90! and i want it! wish i had alot more money!
You are in the business of buying interesting cars, driving them, experiencing them, and writing about it, maybe even make a video. The Hummer was a great car for you. For the rest of us, not so much. The good news is that you can now get a Suburban or Yukon XL and it will seem small and get good mileage
do you have to remove the engine for maintenance ? i know it's the case for some cars and this thing has some of that inside the body ( not just the gearbox )
so sad to see u getting rid of it..kool truck. so what vehicle we look forward to for your youtube vechicle blog?..thnx for sharing the hummer with us..will miss it.
when i didnt know much about offroad i thought a hummer would be awesome. then i learned about offroad and realized it sucks at offroad. get a jeep for rock crawling. get a sandrail for driving fast.
I expected a much better Hummer pun as the title... "The Hummer was a Bummer", "A Summer with a Hummer", etc. Anyway, I'm a fan of big off-road beasts, although I guess a Hummer is too specialized for off-road for me. So I'll stick with a massive pickup. Altough I'd love to test drive a Hummer H1 one day...
For all the reason you mentioned the good and the bad are the exact reason why I’m buying a humvee... tomorrow. What specific reliability issues did you ran into?
A moment of silence for the Hummer, favorite Doug mobile yet.
You still watch doug?
@@Johncena-od8gu i bet he does. I do remember when this video was uploaded. Damn. Time flies.
And now that honor goes to the G Wagon Cabriolet
i bet its still cheaper to tow it than drive it :D
On his drag strip, he did 2 runs; The 2nd was 1.5 seconds faster... That is because there was a huge weight loss. 1 whole gallon of gas gone.
Evan Klemick How on earth was this acceptable in remote areas for the military.
rip hummer, i really liked your videos on it, always gave me a good laugh
+Fkn Mickey Thank you!! Hopefully you'll feel the same way about whatever replaces the Hummer...
Considering the amazingly different and great cars you and the community pick, I will definitely love the upcoming videos :D
Btw consider the audi rs6 c7.
+Fkn Mickey Audi doesn't sell the RS6 in the US.
***** oh wow, i never knew that...strange
+Richard Gao that's weird, why not?
I really enjoyed all the videos of it. Thanks for sharing all those cool moments owning it. Great job!
+AbandonedSC Thank you!
+Doug DeMuro Next is JDM??
+Doug DeMuro How much did u sell it for
+Doug DeMuro What is it with you and cars? You're always calling a tow truck ? This hummer thingy then an austin martin . Do you think maybe You're buying the wrong cars? The only suitable replacement: Nissan Murano Crosscabriolet
xD
+skyline513 ha ha ha nailed it :D
+skyline513 Nissan MaMuro Crosscabriolet.
yes
god no
I recently came across your channel & I think the way you review the vehicles is really fun filled unbiased down to earth kind of way, which actually connects to a lot of people. And goodbye yellow not so little Hummer!
+Among The Hills Thank you! I appreciate that! Goodbye to the Hummer indeed, though I'm sure the next car will be just as fun.
+Doug DeMuro What will your next car be?
+Doug DeMuro Is your next car going to be a PT cruiser trying to crush a hummer?
@@DougDeMuro 7 years later and you say “I don’t regret selling it” 😂
3:07 - "Hummer" and "racetrack" are two words I never expected to hear in the same sentence, lol
Of course, the Hummer couldn't have crushed that Chrysler PT Cruiser without the help of a Saturn SC coupe.
Thanks, Saturn.
I don't know why you're complaining about the dragstrip time. 21 minutes, 6 seconds, 8 miliseconds is better than I was expecting.
0:28 that license plate :D
WHO'S CUTTING ONIONS?!?!!
Saw it on the trailer on route 70, not gonna lie shed a tear
+Lubię Lublin Hah! That's funny. Any chance you snapped a pic?
Doug DeMuro
Unfortunately no, but can't wait to see your next project cruising down the streets of Cherry Hill :)
The Hummer is a really special vehicle. It's been fun watching the videos over the past year.
That license plate ...ahahahahaha
One American icon that will never get old. Love the H1's and HMMWV
Now get a DeLorean.
That truly would be awesome
+chunky soup YES
+chunky soup You mean a DeMurean?
probably the only car thats slower then a hummer
+madmax2069 it is so slow, it goes back in time
Nice license plate, lol.
THE 2K PLUG Just noticed that. Perfect.
Coolest moment of this Hummer's life was sharing a trailer with an IROC-Z
+yitznewton You aren't wrong.
+yitznewton they both run over curbs
Damn, IROCs look sexy in black. Doug, you should've traded your H1 for it.
the trailer was the coolest thing in the video :p
Thanks for driving one for year and showing us the pains so we don't have to experience it!
As an owner of a Deuce and a half (M35a2) I find your reference to size and speed amusing. My daily driver is a Fiesta and is light years ahead in driveability but in the country sometimes you just need a Deuce.
DEUCE AND GUNS what year is your 225? we have a '70
rip hummer
Rip in piece
I'll miss it

an H2 is just an old Chevy Tahoe with a wannabe military body kit. but for those who can't stand having an honest military vehicle, it's an option.
"The H2 was built under contract by AM General at a specially constructed plant in Mishawaka, Indiana, USA. I saw an H2 Hummer on the city streets of Kyoto, Japan. It was surreal seeing such a large beast on a city with such small streets.
6:20 So Emotional Moment 😢
03:20 looks like a safety car jaja
Do a reliant robin next. Lol
YESSSSSSSSS!
Thanks for all the great hummer videos! I'd like to suggest for your next vehicle to either be an Acura NSX or a 1960 Chevy Nomad wagon.
Who bought it? Carmax?
Keep up the awesome videos!

you should do a 1970's super beetle next!!
+cars67833 Or at least one of the Mexican old beetles.
I hope he does I own a 71 beetle my self and I love it so much!!
God no. Super beetles are disgusting. Early beetles are where it's at. I have a 59' oval window.

My hope, you discuss the first-generation Acura NSX then compared with the latest release
Thank you very much Doug, you work very brilliant !!!
GOOD JOB MAN
Makes me miss my 8-11MPG 02 Land Rover Discovery II
To do:
1) Obtain a Hummer
2) Find a parked PT Cruiser
3) Crush Cruiser
4) Leave note on crushed windshield that says, "You're welcome."

So sad to see it go! Man I still want one!
I don't know why but I read that as hammer and an image of you saying goodbye to a hammer entered my mind

You are wrong. In the US, you cannot get any car you want. Go to Japan, UAE or Qatar. There are other places but those 3 places I seen.
+Pingu Pengu don't be so literal he means with in the U.S. and what we have for sale like he sind a free country he did not say world .
get a milsurp hmmwv, assuming you're in the US you can then take it to a state that has minimal requirements for a roadworthy title and get it certified there.

This is the perfect time to get a Reno twizzy!
Gone but not forgotten
Doug, get an old '59 Impala Sports Sedan this time! It's seriously amazing. I own a red one and it's great!
My favourite of your Hummer ownership was by far you crushing the PT cruiser
keep up the good work
Was the Camaro that was on the back of the trailer the Camaro that was found in the back of the truck trailer with like 9 miles on it?
the "AHOLE" license plate that casually appears when the camera pans to the left gave me a laugh LOL
I gotta say, seeing your videos about it has made me wanted to get an original hummer even more! too bad ill never be able to afford a decent one :/
Keep going!
your next vehicle should be a 50's bomb or a 99 Honda civic hatchback with a turbo
I believe my first Doug's videos where Hummer ones.
And I am starting to think that the best thing about Hummer is that no-one would want to steal it.
3:43 OMG thet " *KEEP GOING* " guy...
I got a ride in a Hummer once and was very surprised by how badly it drove. You're right it was loud as fuck and it took up the entire lane so if you drifted left or right even a little you'd crush the car next to you or plow into the cars parked on the shoulder. Great video, even greater decision on selling the Hummer
funny yet informative....tq
Biggest problem for the hummer was the cooling system. The rest of it was a mix of good and so-so ideas that never got sorted out.
I have an 08 H3 and i love it..
I'm gonna miss that "Big Yellow Thing", it's been fun... :(
thank you for doing that to the pt cruiser, and that license plate is great
How much did it sell for?
0:54 parallel parking fail in 3... 2... 1...
YOU SHOULD HAVR MUCH MORE SUBS W.T.F YOUR VIDS ARE AWSOME
And why didn't you buy the IROC-Z on the trailer?
a good question is what was more reliable, the hummer or the range rover?
aww man i hope its takin care of still
always wanted one, so I went to Vegas, rented one and my obsession quickly faded!
My heart is in two pieces I LOVED THE HUMMER
Interesting feedback
Doug, what were the things that specifically made the Hummer hard to maintain/ be reliable? Since it was made before all the electronic gizmos and had a Chevy 350.......was it things like brake pads, rotors, bearings, suspension?

See ya Hummer. That vehicle was a blast to see in these videos.
do you have to remove the engine for maintenance ?
i know it's the case for some cars and this thing has some of that inside the body ( not just the gearbox )
so sad to see u getting rid of it..kool truck. so what vehicle we look forward to for your youtube vechicle blog?..thnx for sharing the hummer with us..will miss it.
It looks so cool
Oh god it's so fucking majestic though just trundling down the track.
when i didnt know much about offroad i thought a hummer would be awesome. then i learned about offroad and realized it sucks at offroad. get a jeep for rock crawling. get a sandrail for driving fast.

80s Audi Quattro next and lets see some snow action this winter
" they're not cool its like driving around in a ryder truck" lmfao
Nice Camaro!!
hey, what car is next? i am excited
When the Hummer hit the market it was hands down the largest light truck on the market. But now, today's largest SUV's are longer and wider.
LOL awesome, a lot of effort thanks
For all the reason you mentioned the good and the bad are the exact reason why I’m buying a humvee... tomorrow.
What specific reliability issues did you ran into?
Where did you sell it? I think I saw it today in the Massachusetts area
they make really good rescue rigs, for when your buddies are in deep crap, at least the diesel one
I loved the hummer I feel u it's hard to maintain
Haha, that's crazy. I sold that trailer, or at least one like it, to that guy back when I was a sales rep at Kaufman trailers.
Rent a big Penske 16 ft truck and make it the only vehicle you can use for a week (for everything). That would be a fun video
Wow I am in tears here... I just could not contain myself. WHy did you let it go... why?
0:29 the license plate says A HOLE LOL!
