Wasim not when you have 14 in lift kit and 54in military tires and an 8 lug Dana 90 rear and an 8 lug Dana 60 front axle along with a Ford racing crate motor that's pushing 500bhp and 478 ft lbs of torque
What he did at 4:21 nearly snapped his driveshaft. You see the Humvees brakes are mounted to the differential so braking force is transmitted through the half shaft and multiplied through the portal gearbox. If you get a wheel in the air and spin it up, it will spin at double speed (a consequence of the torsion differential) and slamming on the brakes will make 165lbs of rotating mass come to a complete stop through a 3/4in metal rod. If you brake your half shaft you also loose braking on the wheel as well.
For all of those youtube offroad driving instructors. If someone has never done this sort of thing before even the easy trails can be a bit daunting. I am sure the lot of you cringed out loud the first time you had to figure out locking hubs. My point is, give Doug a break, he has earned his cred with piloting cars most of us will never lay eyes on.
OK, its a VERY dificult task to deflate the tires on a H1, I will try to explain the best I can though. First, flip button on dash to "deflait", the tires wll deflate, remember to flip button back. To inflate, flip button to inflate. If you need more help, well, I dont know what to tell you,
I was gonna say that he was probably just trying to be funny with the exaggeration and hyperbole. But you're actually right. He embarrasses the H1 here by limiting it to so little, and he never even tries the H2 offroad in another video, while he certainly rushes to bash it just the same. And yet, he is all too eager to go down on his knees for a luxury car and sing the praises of air conditioned gloveboxes, or seat back TV dinner trays, etc. Which once again proves that the most embarrassing vehicle that you can drive...is any vehicle with him in it.
dipro001 the military one (humvee) is even more capable, though, extremely uncomfortable. But the H1 is great. Anything but the trash ass H2s they call hummer. Its just a nasty ass suburban.
Arne Hurnik exactly I knew it was a joke but it became really annoying. He was obviously trying to make filler but there was no effort put in, just repeat "Im gonna die" every chance you get. Instead of repeating *one joke* the entire video how bout you take a little more time to come up with different commentary?... I mean, do a voice over if you have to
If it wasnt LSD, it wouldn't have gone anywhere when one wheel was off the ground. Only with a limited slip diff, locking diff or traction control a car will climb when a wheel has not resistance.(wheel off the ground) At 4:25 you can see what I mean. If the diff was open, the car would not have gone forward
Your commentary and storytelling in all of these videos is amazingly hilarious, but this....this one is a masterpiece. I can barely breathe from laughing so much. :)
that's what i hate about new SUVs. you buy them just to show off your status but even if they were meant for off-road drives you don't want to scratch them or it will cost a shit ton of money to repair them. old off-road cars were reliable and rough. they were not made for comfort, they were made for sport.
I never owned a Hummer but I'm 73 so I remember when the H1 was first made available to the public. It used Torsen "limited slip" differentials front and rear--which meant that GIs who learned to make the best use of that system could drive them on roads similar to those you were exploring and do so without ever spinning a wheel. The technique involved pressing gently on the accelerator and the brake pedal simultaneously. P.S. In this entire video, you were never off of existing roads. A road is a route that has been used and re-used by full-size vehicles (i.e. vehicles with a track of 4-feet 8-1/2-inches or more). The application of the term, "off road", to primitive or unimproved roads is a scheme cooked up by tree huggers who want to close public roads on public land. You play into their hands every time you use the phrase, "off road", to refer to driving on existing roads, i.e. the use of that terminology makes it easier for them to persuade uninformed members of Congress that an area without paved roads should be considered "roadless" and thus should be closed to all motorized (or maybe even all wheeled) vehicles.
+michael garber You know, until it went up to it's door sills in water from one of those puddles.... Or cracked the oil pan on a rock, or got high centered on a ridge, or it couldn't get traction with regular street tires, or any number of other things. Let's be honest, your Altima would probably have a rough enough time in the parking lot of this place.
Doug drives CARS around town on and tracks. Fuckin' kudos to him for going outside his comfort zone. And BONUS, he kinda makes me want to try off-roading too. So I think he's kinda doing a better job than anyone else in the comments.
Lol such a silly video, doug in in H1 the king of off roading and hes like freaking out over every little thing when it can handle pretty much anything in the mud or rocks. The H1 was based directly off a military vehicle that is built to go anywhere and everywhere. Jeeps are much cheaper to own but ill rather have a H1
idk, it looks like a very heavy car. i was hoping to see a hill climb, with slippery rocks, im not very confident that it would go through it. even with 4 wheel diff lock
While it is underpowered and very heavy, it still has all sorts of things that make it capable off-road like those huge wheels, the portal axels and the fact everything underneath is essentially pulled up into the cab and then protected by a giant skid-plate, also if Doug had it enabled he would have been able to inflate or deflate his tires at will. The intake is also at the very top of the hood meaning it doesn’t really need a snorkel. There are probably a few other things I missed but alwell, it can still climb rocks and go through mud easy.
Doug, I hate to tell you this, but in my youth I traversed roads that looked like that in my 61 Rambler American with oversized tires. Some of the rocks weren't quite so big, but most of it was washed out, unpaved, mountain roads, roads in the swamps of Florida, etc. You're such a "weenie" but it was fun watching you almost pee your pants. That took courage, losing face on public video. And I"m Gay, so don't take the weenie part too hard. I own a 95 Bronco with a Cumimins diesel engine it it. IT goes almost anywhere, stoock. If you'd grown up in the country, 50 years ago, maybe unpaved roads/trails wouldn't scare you so much. But, you can't help that.
its funny how this h1 was built for military purposes purely used for climbing and insane torque with on 200hp on a 5.7l diesel. the hummer is able i belive to go close to 80 degrees without tipping due to its low gravity and having a 16 inch clearance I doubt you would ever get stuck in these conditions

Finally a tracked tank rescue vehicle which is basically a tank with a crane on the back came and pulled both out.
That video was freaking awesome Doug!Don't be surprised how good these machines really are, you would be hard pressed to ever get stuck in the best atv ever!
Bro I don`t want to be mean and offend you but this car isn`t for you because you don`t have the to drive this awesome machine. The obstacles through which you got through were easy for this car. This model was used in the us army and the car that you are driving is just the civilian version.
No offense, I think it was a good move for you to sell it. This was clearly not the vehicle for you... I've taken my base model Sentra on similar roads with no problem. If you get another off-road vehicle, get some confidence before you film it!

+Sebastián González True military H1's are extremely slow on road but they're made for offroad where they can easily go fast enough to really screw things up if you're not paying attention.

Tanks technically are because the tracks instead of wheels, which allow for a greater surface area, as well as a tighter turning radius, attributes that are shared with any tracked vehicle.

FYI the hummer has independent 4wd supention so it is fine if it has a wheel off the ground or two the hummer also is capable of driving through water even completely submerged under water
No crap, I literally drive county roads that look like this in rural Missouri in my work truck. A stock 2016 F-150 4×4. That Hummer will have NO problem.
I've been to Rausch Creek plenty of times and believe me the Hummer could only make it through about 20% of the trails without getting high centered or cutting trees down to make the turns.
Even though i dont own a hummer or haven't done off-roading once. I KNOW that in offroad u seldom speed up. U crawl and use throttle with diff locks ONLY when you are stuck. Dough on the other hand floors it in a 10cm deep puddle. Lol.
You're more dramatic than my younger sister, Doug.
rustler08 the repeating the "I'm gonna die!" Joke _the entire video_ was honestly really annoying
Haha
rustler08 thats what makes this video funny.

Wow great one
+Kidawesome Kraft deep puddle indeed
+Kidawesome Kraft ur not getting the thumbs u deserve. my heart goes out to u
that's not a deep mud hole at all hell I've been off-roading my whole life and the mud holes at the place I used to go to were about 5 to 6 feet deep

+audioh0lic well, the civilian ones are a little less for offroading lately
+TheNerdyCanadian Lately? They stopped making them, but they were decent offroading.
Does the H1 not have locking diffs? It was one tire fire.
+alexlam24 I was wondering the same thing.
+audioh0lic They were made for sand. Not trails like this. That's where the Wrangler is king.
Now do it with the Aston Martin. The warranty will cover it.
so clearly if he just rips the bumper off and puts another car between it they will cover it right?

Doug, check the title, it's a HUMMER.
I've been to Rausch Creek plenty of times and believe me the Hummer could only make it through about 20% of the trails without getting high centered or cutting trees down to make the turns.
going with less than 10 kmh and he was always sayng ''that it i am gonna die on my hummer'' -.-'
Aww how cute, this is how I would imagine my 6yo niece would react taking her bicycle on a trail for the first time, bravo!
That Hummer is made for that kind of stuff. Other than just being a block wide it will handle pretty much anything you throw at it.
I did this trail in my Honda Odyssey.
thehotsixer1 i did it in a lowered 1977 honda civic, with mad camber.
Robnoxious77 I did it on my little sisters My little pony tricycle.
I did it with my feet
I did it with my toenails
I did this with a walker
What a weenie! I went up trails about as bad in the Gros Ventre range in Wyoming in a 1978 Caprice Classic.
Those switches for tire pressure and locking the diffs, you should use them when off road. Thats why they're there.
Even though i dont own a hummer or haven't done off-roading once. I KNOW that in offroad u seldom speed up. U crawl and use throttle with diff locks ONLY when you are stuck. Dough on the other hand floors it in a 10cm deep puddle. Lol.
It's a hummer! It's made to be the most versatile off-road machine!
Too bad its wheelbase knocks a couple stars off of that vs. a Jeep.
BACK ON THE ROCKS BACK ON THE ROCKS, BABYYY
I've been through deeper puddles and over larger rocks in a Toyota RAV4. This guy definitely doesn't get out much.
So it really did well off road! Looks like fun! I only went on an offroad trail once in a jeep, nothing too crazy but it was so fun!
