Tennessee Walking Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation

- In the spring of 2012, a photo of a thin, timid Walking Horse mare named Millie caught my eye. Sometimes the heart must rule the head. Messages were sent, phone calls were made, and a wonderful group of good Samaritans went to work to help us bring Millie home. So began a journey through rehabilitation, building health and building trust between me and the fearful mare with the beautiful eyes. This video is for those who saw the beauty beneath, and for those who are wondering if the fight is worth it.

The transformation of that horse is amazing .Thankyou so much. These horses prior to their rescue are so badly abused its utterly disgraceful that shows like the Big Lick are still allowed .And ignorant stupid people deny it still and say there is no cruelty .Thankyou so much for the rescue of these magnificent animals .
This video needs sooo many more likes. I had no idea about the Big Lick until my daughter did a project on it in school. I couldn't believe such a thing was happening for so long. God love all you rescuers.
I’m 67 and I did a book report about it when I was in high school!! Imagine my horror finding out all these years later that it’s STILL going on!! 😢😮
@@MusicToYourLiking they didn't but abuse still goes on with the Walking Horses .
@@madduck2323 It has been banned but it still goes on .
@@debbiehollis5711 I know!!
Agreed its horrifying: understand TWH were bred to be used to ride around on a plantation using its natural, smooth running walk the current big ick competition s are a cruel travesty and perversion of the breed the soring and chains etc should be outlawed on cruelty grounds: absolutely disgusting
she is beautiful-I'm so glad you found her.
SHE IS GORGEOUS NOW!
Fantastic to see that it is hope for the poir abused horses. Well done you all who have saved them.❤️
I rescued and 18 year old gelding who was in a similar condition. He turned into my black beauty until he died at age 32. I miss those quiet times together in his stall when I groomed him while he enjoyed his grain. I miss the bond of friendship we had. This is a beautiful video that captures those feelings very well, thank you.
Judith Neeley thank you for giving him a lovely life, YOU are what’s good in this world❣️
Judith, lots of horses in need would love a chance to be your new best friend..you could fill that empty spot and give a life hope..
So nice to know that someone cares for these animals that just want to be good.
God bless you ! Horses are god creatures angels on earth !
The fight to rescue horses and stop abusive practices is never over!
Thank you for rescuing these horses.
Thanks for give to those horses a real chance of life and rescue them from those horrific and cruel soring . Blessings always 💛
What a wonderful thing you have done. God bless you. Millie was turned back into a beauty. Only this time she is loved and well cared for.
How beautiful to watch this is how they are supposed to look. 😍😍😍
Great job! That's how horses should live and be loved!
I’m so late to this video but thank you so much for doing this! This is how all horses should live, loved and cared for NOT abused 😭♥️
Amazing what a little patience & a lot of love can achieve, she's stunning
You have repaired my heart after seeing the horrible soring of the big lick horses which had me howling with greif and distrust of human capabilities. Thank you! I wish you and Millie the best.
How do you know that this horse was a big lick
So beautiful. Wish I could rescue them all.
After all I've just seen I'm in tears seeing just one being rescued
Thank you so much for all your work, love and dedication
Aww well thank you for making me cry at 2am! Lol but seriously. just beautiful.
Beautiful story and beautiful heart.
From skinny and shaggy to fat and sleek, and happy. A beautiful in every way video.
Wow. Just wow. You are my hero.
You are Gods Angel taking care of Gods beautiful animals here on earth! 😇
Thank you for all you do..I never knew about Big Lick until a month ago. Truely horrific life for these majestic creatures
Where does it say that the horse was a big lick
This is a poorly taken care of horse just like kn a lot of other breeds and just bcz it was poorly taken care of doesn’t mean it was a big lick what is wrong with you
Apologies, I wasn’t implying this horse was a big lick horse…what I am saying is this breed is amazing. We don’t have a huge amount of TWH in New Zealand and I never knew or heard what BL was before a month ago… I never knew it went on.. again apologies if it came across that way and I am in no way implying this was a BL horse.

The power of love is transformative!
Beautiful! ❤️❤️
Wonderful work!
In terms of a good breed of Beginner Horse Tennessee Walkers are the best I've been told.
What a beautiful video!
Gorgeous.
that is amazing!
thank u for making my day
Thank you for this. :)
Why is everyone saying she was used for padded performance/big lick? That's hilarious. She's stunning.
Amazing ❤️

I love horses
Wow the ones I see rescued from kill pens can hardly even walk much less run.
Were their tails ok? Can't imagine what they suffered.. thank goodness they found you, many live and die in agony 😡
What a lovely transformation .. Was she ever able to ride?
Yes, she and I went on trail rides until my back gave up. She's a happy pasture pet now, and still 100% sound.
Can someone look into Blaise Broccard's training methods please? I asked her how she trains if there's no soaring and she wouldn't answer me
From over thin to over weight, how is that good for the mare
You know, Angie Rowe, if that's all you got from this vid, it's very sad. Did you not see the heartbreaking condition that horse was in when rescued? Do you have any idea of how much work went into saving her, reconditioning her and teaching her to trust again? The vet bills, the farrier bills, the feed bills,, the days, nights, worry and stress? Both for the mare and the new owner? I think she looks fabulous, and I would rather see a horse overweight than underweight; and any responsible horse owner I know would as well.
Do Tennessee Walking horses have problems trotting, or is it that horrible big lick training that made this horse unable to trot?
Some trot, some pace, and some do a mix. Those bred for Big Lick tend to be more pacey.
Please tell me your still helping them?💔💔💔😭😭😭
Millie is still healthy and happy, and still with me.
Hahaha I love how ppl assume that this horse was a big lick just bcz it was not in a good condition this horse is just like in a lot of other breeds poorly taken care of this has nothing to do with the big lick honestly the twh is not just big lick and it hurts my brain that ppl always talk shit while knowing nothing
BIG LICK NEEDS TO BE BANNED
WHO TF SAYS THAT THIS HORSE WAS A BIG LICK YOUR FUCKING STUPID JUST BCZ ITS POORLY TAKEN CARE OF DOESNT MEAN IT WAS A BIG LICK ITS SO DUMB WHEN PPL THAT KNOW JACK SHIT ABOUT TWH TALK SHIT ITS SO EMBARRASSING
You've rescued these horses but what about the other horses that are being forced to perform in the shows? The abuse that they endure why can't you rescue the rest of these and find people that will help you get these horses out of this torturous sport? The show begins today through September 5th. I wish you would rescue the rest of these horses so they don't have to endure a life of pain and suffering
I really wish I could. Keep spreading the word.
Are you really saying that a normal walking twh is abuse you are saying a special horse breed is abuse wtf is wrong with you you know there is way more to the twh than a big lick ohhh ppl piss me off
The twh is born to walk like that the bone structure is different to other horse breeds they don’t trot but ofc how would a person know that didn’t do his research
The music is annoying
The only breed of horse that's bred to walk lame
The music...cannot listen to it. Distracting.
