Tennessee Walking Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation
Просмотров 57 тыс.9 лет назад
In the spring of 2012, a photo of a thin, timid Walking Horse mare named Millie caught my eye. Sometimes the heart must rule the head. Messages were sent, phone calls were made, and a wonderful group of good Samaritans went to work to help us bring Millie home. So began a journey through rehabilitation, building health and building trust between me and the fearful mare with the beautiful eyes. ...

Tennessee Walking Horse Comparison
Просмотров 108 тыс.12 лет назад
In a recent conversation, there was the discussion about the importance of bloodlines and keeping horses registered. I suggested that while registration is ideal, it isn't a requirement in order to get a good gaited horse. As an example, I made a video of my four horses: All are Tennessee Walking Horses, two are unregistered with no known history, one has 'modern' breeding, and one has traditio...
Millie and Willy April 9 2012

This was Millie and Willy, a week after coming to Indiana. The two rescues, for the first time ever, volunteered to come up and say hi in the paddock. I was so proud of them both! For anyone concerned, we are aware that they are underweight. They are steadily gaining as time goes by. You can follow their story at www.eponaschosen.com

This is Millie and Willy, five weeks after their arrival in Indiana from Robinette Farms in Tennessee. These two were in poor shape thanks to the great ladies at Robinette Farms, we were able to bring them up here and work with them to bring them back to good health. Their story can be followed at www.eponaschosen.com . Please note: Millie in particular is still underweight. Don't worry, she an...

This is a thank you to Gary Lane, who spent time with my son and me during a two day clinic at Windswept Stables. As a mother, it is amazing to watch Gary work with my son, giving him confidence, pride, and a real love of Walking Horses. Thank you, Gary, for all that you do for the gaited horse AND gaited horse riders.
Mystique Learns To Gait

This is Mystique, a Tennessee Walking Horse mare who was rescued by Dee. Dee did a wonderful job putting weight on Mystique and training the mare, but needed a little help finding Mystique's good gait. All she was getting was a bumpy nasty pace. After two hours of learning how to do some suppling and bending exercises and learning to recognize what was 'good', Dee was getting lots of head shake...

I wanted to share how comfortable the new Lady Lite saddle is for both me and the horse. I had an opportunity to try out the Lady Lite while down at Windswept Stables for a clinic with Gary Lane. I can honestly say that the Lady Lite is more comfortable than any other saddle I own, and I own 9 different saddles. Several of those saddles will now be sold, so that I can replace them with a Lady L...

Do Tennessee Walking horses have problems trotting, or is it that horrible big lick training that made this horse unable to trot?

    • @Shansurri

Some trot, some pace, and some do a mix. Those bred for Big Lick tend to be more pacey.

The transformation of that horse is amazing .Thankyou so much. These horses prior to their rescue are so badly abused its utterly disgraceful that shows like the Big Lick are still allowed .And ignorant stupid people deny it still and say there is no cruelty .Thankyou so much for the rescue of these magnificent animals .

You've rescued these horses but what about the other horses that are being forced to perform in the shows? The abuse that they endure why can't you rescue the rest of these and find people that will help you get these horses out of this torturous sport? The show begins today through September 5th. I wish you would rescue the rest of these horses so they don't have to endure a life of pain and suffering

You know, Angie Rowe, if that's all you got from this vid, it's very sad. Did you not see the heartbreaking condition that horse was in when rescued? Do you have any idea of how much work went into saving her, reconditioning her and teaching her to trust again? The vet bills, the farrier bills, the feed bills,, the days, nights, worry and stress? Both for the mare and the new owner? I think she looks fabulous, and I would rather see a horse overweight than underweight; and any responsible horse owner I know would as well.
