Horses and Mules Rescued

- On April 14th, 2011 Horse Plus Humane Society had 21 horses, ponies and mules surrendered. Lassen County Animal Control assisted with the surrender of these animals. Most of the horses and mules had never been halter trained, so they had to be loaded hands free. No horses were hurt in the loading process, only humans. The Animal Control officer had her hand broken when she was kicked by one of the stallions.
The horses and mules were brought immediately to our veterinarian for evaluation. Please join us in our rescue efforts: horsehumane.org

Thank you for helping all these beautiful animals!
Really well coordinated effort in getting these unhandled horses & mules loaded quickly, with the least amount of stress. I know some people have been critical, but you only had a short amount of time to get this done, and you did it well. I cheered when the first bunch turned to the interior of the trailer and started going in.
thank you for rescuing all these beautiful horses and mules that I always loved.

Thanks for stepping up to the plate and helping so many horses!!
I'm just seeing these old videos now, it was so dangerous loading them all this way i'm glad you no longer do it like that. Horses being frightened into trailers and basically crushing eachother to get away from you guys onto the trailer is just plain horrible and sad
Simply wonderful
Again, you're awesome. Thank you for being there for them.
A horse wears its spirit on its sleeve and its soul in its eyes.
Good job. 🤠💕
@HorseCrazy38 None of the horses were halter trained. We used the whips as an extension of our arms as a visual barrier, they were not used to hit the horses in punishment.
horsehumane ANIMAL ABUSE
life December 1 2017 made channel would you rather have them do this and just make a barrier and tap them with the whole to encourage or have them die.
Not whole I mean whip
Loading starving horses is easy if you simply put hay or grain inside the trailer.
and that stupid woman waving the crop around was making matters far worse. I've been working with horses for most of my life. The LAST thing you want to do with horses who have never been trailered, is to scare them by whacking them with a whip/crop or waving it over their heads! Yelling and whooping only exacerbates the issue and makes them MUCH harder to trailer later because they see the trailer as an even scarier thing. Just put grain in it and load a horse whose calm and who preferably has trailerd before first. They are herd animals, get one in, the others will follow once they see the trailer isn't the gaping terrifying horse eating monster they think it is.
No it depends weather they are good orientated if they arnt as some have been abused and starved they can be scared to eat or it might hurt them to eat if they have bad teeth it completely depends on their past to weather they will load
@@amymanoharan284 yes but sometimes when it's a life or death situation with the horses you have to and they arnt waving them they are simply walking holding it to extend their arms
they do great work, easy to be a critic. They are doing the best they can. If anyone can be a rescue, I think that's great if you can do that. If you can't, perhaps donate.
youtubers need to start subscribing and liking these videos.. so HSUS can makes some money from youtube to fund its organization..
Now that is team work.
What's wrong with that mule is his tounge swollen ? I thought he was caring a rock in his mouth at first .
Actually I was thinking why is that mule carrying a rock in his mouth for? I don't know why his tongue would be like that. Hope it was fixed. How can he eat or drink like that?
I thought he was eating horse manure.
Me too
I thought it was a rock at first too. Now I think it was a large tumor.
It’s a tumor on the inside of her lip or on the gum. Not the tongue.
You guys should have put up a follow up video, did you?
thank you for your efforts. can you tell me what is going on with the one's tongue? and what the outcome was? thanks again.
hi tawnee this is jessie from the rescue this is so amazing that you do this for them
it would have help if they led the halter or most cooperative horse into the trailer first then the rest would be more likely to follow.
Yes, an extremely dangerous way to load horses.
At the beginning of the video , it was said all the horses were not halter broke.
just noticed the one horses tongue-- what happened cancer? tumor?? how was it able to eat
It picked up a rock.
@@xxtiggiexxxxx1958 and wearing it 2 days with him ?! no lady...its not a rock !!
Wow
What happened to the mule with the swollen gum/lip? Was a vet able to remove it or was the animal put down?
MsBecki the vet was able to remove it, she's my baby now. :)
@@ivy2q 😄💞❤
How do y’all get the horse to calm down once there in trailers
So why not do a voiceover to tell how you came to rescue these poor things, and whats happening, instead of that annoying music. You will get more "likes" with a bit of info.
Read the description.
Christine Sylvester true
got it & thanks !!!
Clearly the blind leading the blind
no joke. I don't think any of them knew what they were doing.
AND HOW MANY HORSES HAVE YOU SAVED LATELY???
Did they put any hay in the trailer??? What happened to them?
I subscribed
What was in that horses mouth ?! 🤔❤
🙏🙏🙏
Amen to that Christine! It's annoying as heck!
I really don't like the music; it's too loud. You can't hear what's being said, or it is just blasting your eardrums out. Also, it can wildly fluctuate from barely audible to blasting away. Please make the music just background music so we can hear what's going on, or not have to jockey our sound buttons trying to cope with this. Thank you.
That was filmed in 2011 e did not have a good media team back then but thanks for the input.
@@hphs I've had your videos coming up in my Facebook feed lately and started glutting on them a few days ago. Now I'm going back to the beginning and watching the oldest ones in order. Wow. You've come such a long way. I used to be a member of the McHenry County Horseman's Association in northern Illinois, and had my Arabian gelding, Ariel for 24 of his 27 years of life. He was the true love of my life and I'm grateful I was able to keep him from the age of 3 to his last day. Thank you for all you do.
Where can you go to rescue these horses
Did they rescue all of them?
Katie Holder I would hope so💕
Same as jumpinhorses what was going on with the tongue of that chestnut pony ??
Luccx M I think it's some sort of tongue cancer :/
The horses are already scared so i dont get why get them scared and worked up, i get your trying to help but i dont think the whip made aynthing better!
Their not hurting them. Do your realize how thick their skin is? They've most likely never been on a trailer and they need the every push to get in there
Angel Hoffer their skin is 2 senitmers thick and so is their skin so accully it accully does hurt
Angel Hoffer.......a horses skin is very sensitive. They can feel a fly land on them. A lot of people think their hides are like cows. Wrong
Their skin is 7 inches thinner, so no I assume they didn't actually hit the horse, probably a tap or what the whip SHOULD BE USED FOR, sound. Sound scares them into doing things, they are like dogs, sorta liking to work for us. But of course only if your kind.
As explained above and alot of horse trainers will say the same thing the whip is an extension of the arm and rather then getting close to the animal and putting themselves and others in harm's way they use the whip as the extra encouragement and as stated above the horses are not trailer trained so they couldn't have led them into the trailer
Aww.
poor things
Even a trained horse needs to be lead onto a trailer. WTH?
What's he carrying, the beet or a potato?
He's not carrying anything that's his tong. Might be cancer. As you can see it's more than just starvation.
So why not explain that?
Why do you not answer about the horses tongue? I find that extremely odd. Was going to donate because of a more recent video but now you are in doubt. So many questions were asked about the tongue and no answers.
runningfromtheherd maybe they dont know
there is a comment above about the one with the swollen tongue the vet took care of it and he is in his forever home
any information on the ones tongue
skyanne jones I think it might be a type of cancer from what I can see.
Someone posted above that the vet was able to fix the tongue and that particular mule now belonged to the poster.
Hi
Did no one knowtis they hitting them with wips
you smack the horse no like this the sie
Not hitting them. It makes a sound. If they were hitting them, then the horses would go crazy due to pain and all they did was run into the trailer.
Use flags instead on sticks
