I wish people would stop criticizing this song. The purpose of it is admitting to living in your "own little world", and asking God to bring you out of it, and showing you the bigger picture in life, and your full potential. To start considering things beside yourself. It's honestly opened my eyes to so many things.

Several days ago I had this song/video on repeat for a good half hour to an hour. Then, the following morning the song came on the radio. As always, I gasped in excitement and praised God that the song came on because I wanted to listen to it. Later that day I stopped at a red light and looked to my left, seeing a woman with a cardboard sign. My mind was blown.

THOS not only applies to Christians. I'm an atheist, but I love this song. We all need to step out of our comfort zones and do something for another. Our individual lives don't matter. We really matter when we all stick together and coexist. It's not even just about tolerating one another either. There are many starving, many who are abused, teens who come home with red eyes and the smell of smoke on their clothes, children who are afraid of their parents because they hit them, people in Africa who can't even drink clan water, one of the most plentiful things in the world. How sad is that, that some can't even get a grasps on the most plentiful thing? There are people who have no future and a bad past. People sitting on the street dangling their tin cups about, asking for just change, and so many pass them by, they don't even care. And that's sad, that this is what we call society. We all are too busy tightening our ties and putting on watches, driving around and having fun to care about anyone else. What do those beggars on the street have to go home to? They don't have homes. They have nothing but you and the clothes on their back, and they're only counting on you. They've given up any hope of living a life. They're lives and futures aren't in their hands anymore. They depend only on you now. So many of us just ignore the bad things in the hopes that they will just go away with time. They won't. It only takes a few dimes, a comment like "I love you" or "you are special and you are cared about". That's all we need, just to set aside differences and come together as a whole. Only then will out world be a good place.

I'm deeply atheistic, and I say that here just to lend emphasis to the fact that I think that this song's message is very powerful and positive and that it's the sort of thing that could make a small but real and beneficial difference to the world, and that (less importantly but still importantly) Matthew West is a very talented musician. I don't even slightly share West's faith, but I can agree from a secular standpoint that this song has a very good message and also that it's good musically.

So, by God's grace (that is, enabling power), we are made capable of turning from all WILLFUL (on purpose) sin,. I really like this song, because when people complain about something, they really don't realize how much other people are hurting. Matthew West really delivers the message of helping other people. He is so inspiring, He lets people know how there is wayyy more stuff that you can do than what you are doing. Our whole generation should listen to this song. whenever i see this video i honestly think that the widow was portrayed as an angel here on Earth to help others, like that guy, learn to reach out to others, seeing how he came to the same corner stop at the end and she wasnt there yet her sign was in his passenger seat....which gets me thinking...wat if some of the people we see everyday are actually angels in disguise reaching out for us to get us to "help" so we can be lead to those with greater need?...and we pass them right by without a thought....

my mom told me about this song and told me to really listen to the lyrics so i did and after listening to it about 2 times a switch went off in my heart and God helps me and i can be a servant for him and show his glory to others who are going through really hard times and need to know that he is there to help them! this song is one of my favorite!

It says there has to be a moderation between your own little world and religion's "greater purpose". You can only affect the world so much, so you have to look after your own life and enjoy the simple pleasures that come from helping others.
When you study God's word and really give God your all, that changes. He makes you feel loved and he changes the way you are. In the Bible God asks us to let go of what other people think of us; to stop trying to please others and to set our goals on pleasing Him. A church is just a building and though people can judge you, the one that matters is God. He is a perfect judge and He always forgives us our sins. We have to repent and ask for forgiveness but God always forgives us and loves us.

I was in my own little world when I was about 9. I had my whole life ahead of me. Then i met Quinn. She had a skin disease that caused blisters to form on her skin. (Which is extremely painful). Now i am 13 and i want to make a difference. That is how god changes you. I still have my life to go and i want to do something my own little world has 100 little children with EB and other people too. That is life changing. If not for Quinn would still be in my own little world.

I was listening to this song on the radio drive to my private university, a place where it is very easy to live in "My Own Little World" and while I'm driving I see a guy going through the trash searching for some food. I did not have a red light but I pulled over anyways gave him $20 so I went through that light and when I am about 20 yards from the next light which is green, somebody runs a red going the adjacent direction and could have possible T-boned me had I not pulled over. God is good.
I recently started an organization called The Cause, and it's all about helping people. Yesterday I was saying that my life isn't about me, and lo and behold there's a line in this song that says "my own little world is not about me". That makes me smile =)
sadly many christians are caught in their own little world, not thinking about the people around them. We see the hurt in the world, but only tend to our own hurt when we could be giving to those who have much less than we do. So, the next time you are tempted to complain, stop and think, "what about those who are hurting more than I am."

We do live in our own little world quite often, but my world has started to grow during this past year. I started to sit with people who were sitting alone at my school during lunch and now my life has changed. I have found my greater purpose. I went outside of my own little world and found a way to make a difference and i was able to see what really matters. God opened my eyes to show what breaks His heart and it broke mine. Now, with other people's hearts, we may just start a chain reaction!

The best birthday I ever had, I had someone fall into my lap who was living out of her car with her dog, and I took her out for lunch and I just listened to her talk and get stuff off her chest. I am a fixer. And I am a perfectionist. That means I want to fix my imperfections, my families, my friends, and others. I judge people when its not my place. I've been a christian most of my life but have learned to let God be the judge and surrender.
Love isn't about physical intamacy, it's about caring for everyone like they are a human chosen by God. because we forget that that's what everyone is. Every single human being on this earth was carefully molded by God. Everyone has a purpose. Even the people we dislike. Convicts, the mentally handycapped, janitors, that creepy old man across the street who glares at people through his windows, they are all created by God and loved by him. So don't lose a single opportunity to show God's love :)

I'm deeply atheistic, and I say that here just to lend emphasis to the fact that I think that this song's message is very powerful and positive and that it's the sort of thing that could make a small but real and beneficial difference to the world, and that (less importantly but still importantly) Matthew West is a very talented musician. I don't even slightly share West's faith, but I can agree from a secular standpoint that this song has a very good message and also that it's good musically.

I used to hate Christian songs, but now I don't mind them at all. As long as it sounds good to me, I'm fine with it. If it even conveys a message that I am in agreement with, even better.

He is so inspiring, He lets people know how there is wayyy more stuff that you can do than what you are doing. Our whole generation should listen to this song. whenever i see this video i honestly think that the widow was portrayed as an angel here on Earth to help others, like that guy, learn to reach out to others, seeing how he came to the same corner stop at the end and she wasnt there yet her sign was in his passenger seat....which gets me thinking...wat if some of the people we see everyday are actually angels in disguise reaching out for us to get us to "help" so we can be lead to those with greater need?...and we pass them right by without a thought....

my mom told me about this song and told me to really listen to the lyrics so i did and after listening to it about 2 times a switch went off in my heart and God helps me and i can be a servant for him and show his glory to others who are going through really hard times and need to know that he is there to help them! this song is one of my favorite!

Yes, I love Christ but right now I'm in a place where I feel restricted to just study in school. I have no room to move or do the things that I want to do. When you study God's word and really give God your all, that changes. He makes you feel loved and he changes the way you are. In the Bible God asks us to let go of what other people think of us; to stop trying to please others and to set our goals on pleasing Him. A church is just a building and though people can judge you, the one that matters is God. He is a perfect judge and He always forgives us our sins. We have to repent and ask for forgiveness but God always forgives us and loves us.

I was in my own little world when I was about 9. I had my whole life ahead of me. Then i met Quinn. She had a skin disease that caused blisters to form on her skin. (Which is extremely painful). Now i am 13 and i want to make a difference. That is how god changes you. I still have my life to go and i want to do something my own little world has 100 little children with EB and other people too. That is life changing. If not for Quinn would still be in my own little world.
I've recently expanded my own little world, it's been slowly growing and growing. I have to say my day to day level of joy has grown as well. It's happier outside of your own little world.

I can not imagine what it's like for one who's never went hungry, always had shoes, and felt safe. I ask myself "How can they know what it was like for The Messiah, when he easily could have made the entire world fall at His feet in worship, but instead chose to suffer as the least of these do and some?" If I only walked by sight I'd write such a person off, but thanks be to God I'm assured that even the kings heart is in the Hand of the Lord.

I'm not perfect and have much to learn and do but age is no excuse, as harsh as children can be they are one of the greatest examples of how humanity and society cant be that bad. When a 5 year old offers a toy to someone who doesn't have one or comforts the crying baby they didn't do much but they made a world of difference. Hey Carlos I know how you feel man I understand you and I will not judge you my brother. I been at my lowest and weakest point and I cursed Gods name for it, but in reality it was him who kept on picking me up and giving me that extra push to continue living. I was listening to this song on the radio drive to my private university, a place where it is very easy to live in "My Own Little World" and while I'm driving I see a guy going through the trash searching for some food. I did not have a red light but I pulled over anyways gave him $20 so I went through that light and when I am about 20 yards from the next light which is green, somebody runs a red going the adjacent direction and could have possible T-boned me had I not pulled over. God is good.

sadly many christians are caught in their own little world, not thinking about the people around them. We see the hurt in the world, but only tend to our own hurt when we could be giving to those who have much less than we do. So, the next time you are tempted to complain, stop and think, "what about those who are hurting more than I am."

We are not called to help "only if they come to a Christian shelter" or "Only when we can know that they wont take that and use it to sin." You can't always know someone's heart and motivations, so you should always be a light during a dark time. If you have the opportunity share the gospel, most definitely do! But sometimes just showing love is enough to make a difference for someone, and enough to make them think, "What's different about you? I want it." And there's your opportunity to share

We do live in our own little world quite often, but my world has started to grow during this past year. I started to sit with people who were sitting alone at my school during lunch and now my life has changed. I have found my greater purpose. I went outside of my own little world and found a way to make a difference and i was able to see what really matters. God opened my eyes to show what breaks His heart and it broke mine. Now, with other people's hearts, we may just start a chain reaction!
