I would have lost my absolute sh** if I could have been there, that was awesome. As a kid who grew up memorizing Top Gun and pretending to be an F-14 pilot on the swingset, this gave me chills.

Simply Awesome!!! USAF 🇺🇸 Veteran. Was stationed at RAF Upper Heyford(F111's), England during Desert Storm, for 3yrs.
One of the best intro soundtracks in a movie. Just the begin of the movie with this song and F-14 Tomcats flying and landing on a Naval ship.
Its really cool to watch, but if you are on the ship when they are landing its not so cool...lol. Been there , done that!!

@@scubasmog What were you listening to? He's got emotion in there, a lot of Brit players don't physically jump around like an idiot. Think Clapton and Knopfler, very emotional but only in sound.

The ironic part it that, as good as Sgt Les Paul (I don't know his actual name) was, Cpl Stratocaster would possibly have been better suited to playing this one, since the original makes heavy use of a floating bridge, which the Les Paul doesn't have....

I was on the Road to Norfolk Naval Airstation when this Topgun came out. The base had a massive buzz on that movie.
I was a drum major for a Scottish marching band that performed with 4 of the massed bands of the Royal Marines in Canada several years ago. Got to know their drum majors over the four performances. Really great guys, and the musical talent in that organization is unbelievably good. A cherished memory.

because of top gun from 99 to 2004 i served on six carriers CVA 67, CVN 69, 71, 73, 75 and 76... and sometimes this song or mighty wings or danger zone will play to start flight operations.
