In my opinion, Interstellar is one of the greatest soundtracks of all time. It is one of those soundtracks that gives you an open space to think about the big questions, about humanity, the meaning of our existence, the relationship between the transcendency and the human being, his curiosity, his doubt, his questioning and his faith. Zimmer's minimalistic approach is so effective, the simplicity of the melodies on the one hand and the intensity and musical depth on the other. Many thanks, Ashton, for your hard work. The suite is very close to the original and I highly appreciate it.

I play this every Sunday with my mom when we drive to go get brunch. Shes dying from cancer. It sucks. Shes slowly losing the battle. But we can still drive from her home to where we go to eat. Its a very nice drive through the farm fields. Through a really nice area of beautiful farm homes too. Then down along the river. I play this and we just talk. She asks about my business and how Im doing. She doesnt seem too concerned with herself so much as she is concerned for myself, my brother and my sisters. I know she is the best mum ever. When she is gone I dont know if Ill ever be able to listen to this again. But for now, some of my best times and memories are of those simple drives with her listening to this. I put on Pink Floyd, Sade and some other cool tunes. I still havent gotten her to listen to Tool. They're my top all time favourite group. Maybe when she is gone, when Im listening to Tool she'll be there beside me, finally listening too. If not there will always be this. Peace yall.

The movie Interstellar just so happens to be my favorite movie of all time. However the soundtrack is way beyond just a movie soundtrack. This is a masterpiece of music that belongs up there with some of the most beautiful pieces ever written. The feeling of emotion I get that floods through my soul when I listen to this is second to none. It literally makes me cry. It makes me so grateful to be alive to hear such beautiful sounds. What a gift this is.

    • @sidpheasant7585
      @sidpheasant7585 Год назад +6

I agree of course, but whether it is the music or the movie, we have to be a little humble and recognise that something of this wondrous beauty and truth and meaning is NOT possible without God and without the real-world activity of His inspiring Holy Spirit. I think we know this by instinct, and I think I know (discern) it because of my love for the Holy Spirit following His immense kindness and mercy shown to me. Hans Zimmer is an immense genius, as is Christopher Nolan. But the beauty they capture comes from somewhere beyond them and all of us, even as the Holy Spirit is willing and ready to dwell within us when we ask for that. I did.
The whole point of the movie is the use of love to defy physics, which is a core activity of the Holy Spirit.
This music makes no sense if the universe is empty and meaningless.
In the original iteration of the story of Interstellar, the world was just lost - destroyed by human stupidity.
It was only by repeat tweaking of the timeline at both ends that 2 solutions to save the Earth were arrived at, through daughter and father respectively.
But be under no illusion that both Cooper Station and the new planet were INFERIOR to the original solution God provided us with the bounteous Earth.
Our activity in the movie's scenario (and in real life) is what made the Earth cease to be bounteous - it had had enough of us, as Cooper said in the film.
This is the sign from us, through the Holy Spirit, in the movie, but also radiating out of it for the real world.
I take heed, I see, and I try to pass the idea on.
It is the least I can do for my Saviour.

The film tells us that LOVE matters in the universe - so much indeed that it can trump the laws of physics. The film makes me cry for three reasons (because the Earth is dying and is fed up with human beings; but also because that state of affairs is so intolerable - to God - that He finds a way (bridged by love) for future human beings to influence the past, probably several times; and also because I am a father with a daughter and the strength of that love is known, even as we can only speculate at the ecstasy-agony of the daughter waiting her whole life for the father to keep his promise). The solutions (one found by the father and one by the daughter) are both nevertheless LESS perfect than the original one of us living on the amazing Earth. But then, when we were thrown out of the Garden of Eden, we had less perfection, less protection, but more freedom to act - to choose to be good and to do our best or not.
The music is about all of those things, but a religious person (and more so a Born-Again like me) is going to see the Holy Spirit in the music, which means it is sad-happy-healing-inspiring-true-cleansing-advocating-supporting-sustaining-forgiving-enlightening all at the same time. No surprise that we cannot fully put our finger on what we are feeling, even as we know that - for the Holy Spirit as the inspirer of transcendent human genius - all of those emotions are ONE - just variations on the theme of endless love and truth, which the Paraclete is.
BTW, as we see now from Putin and his hideous lackeys, evil is not just less good and more bad than good, it is also more random, chaotic, devoid of meaning and sense and value. In contrast, good and beauty and truth in the universe have meaning and order, and we see that in the film, just as we hear it in the stunningly beautiful music.
      NOTHING IS BY CHANCE...

I was lucky enough to hear the Royal Albert Hall organ perform the entire soundtrack over the film live, along with zimmer and his orchestra, some years ago, along with talks from Kip Thorne, Caine, Hawking, Zimmer, Cox and Nolan. I think about it every few days and sometimes wonder if it was a dream. This really was our generation’s 2001 - but honed and refined. I still think the switch to the romantic theme as Cooper locks eyes with Brand and detaches is one of the single greatest moments of film and music coming together too.

I'd say interstellar is literally one of the best movies ever made. It's not just about space or saving the world; it's really about the bond between a father and daughter, and how that love can stretch across time and space.

For me this is a generational soundtrack, like 2001 a Space Odyssey. Just a tour de force for music lovers. Soundtrack music is the current classical music format most heard by the current generation. Hopefully this exposure will make more want to hear some of the great pieces from the past as well.

this master record is what we send out to the Aliens to make them understand what man is about. Fears, hopes, anger, love, dreaming, expectation and hope, disappointment, desperation, desire.
Hans has tipped the edge of excellence with this soundtrack, it carries the weight of the story and picture, which in combination make this film being the most complete piece of art ever produced. Next great thing is "first man". These are great times to be alive and a gift for everyone appreciating human excellence. I wished i could spend a day with Hans.

i used this (and other film scores) at my wedding reception for the after-ceremony drinks before people sat down to eat. The amount of people that said they enjoyed it more than the normal wedding stuff made it worthwhile alone! What a fuckin wedding!!!

I have been a huge Hans Zimmer fan for decades. Everything he writes has this ever-so- delicate burst of emotion underlying the top notes of a score. If you pierce the outer layer of his music you get swallowed into an ethereal abyss of sound that is all at once glorious, haunting, painful, loving, so so sad, and hopeful. Every time I hear his music I have to remind myself to breathe. His work is that intense and it is beautiful.

Its remarkable that an instrument that was invented hundreds of years ago to create music to honor God , can still move us so much. I had a friend years ago who worked for a company that traveled around the USA fixing/refurbishing pipe organs. He loved it. I was just glad they weren't being allowed to disappear.
