Hans Zimmer wrote this soundtrack without knowing what the film was about, he was only ordered that in a few days he would deliver a work that would express through music the relationship between a father and a son. And that was what he gave, shortly after he found out that it was actually Father-daughter, because he didn't even know the story of the movie prior to that. When he delivered, the film's producer told Hans Zimmer that the film was in fact a science fiction film. And he asked him to go darker... And so he found a cathedral with an organ, and the reason is that he said that the organ represents the human species' attempt to portray the mystical and the metaphysical, that which is beyond us. He mentioned that he could feel the human presence every time the organ breathed in and out the notes. A powerful instrument that will represent the presence of humanity before the vast and powerful universe.

My first trip to Europe was in 1985. I was in Salisbury while a organ festival was going on. I could not get tickets for the organ concert; so, I sat outside the cathedral in the dark listening to the organ music. The cathedral was spotlit at night. What a great experience. As I wandered around the grounds, I was visited by the spirits of the ancient monks toiling around the cathedral. One of my favorite nights of the trip. After all these years, the memories remain vivid. It is as if I was there yesterday. Thanks for bringing them back.
I'm sure there are real organists playing in some of the churches. Mass is the pinnacle of God's love, and music is our response to how much we want to celebrate it

The thing about an organ of this magnitude, is that it's not IN the room. It IS the room. Sound comes at you from everywhere, all at once, with a physical presence. I'm not religious by any stretch of the imagination, but I can understand why this music might lead one to believe, on emotion alone. Very impressive.
Organists...and those who understands the organ -music lives in the 4th dimension...it is a different and beautiful world!!! Thank you for playing for me and us!!! I love it so much!!!🙏🙏❤
I really wish you could do this as a public organ recital. I’d happily pay a handsome fee to see, hear and feel this on an epic organ. Blows my socks off.

I wish I could've been in the cathedral while this was played. To sit among the Purbeck marble columns as music rained down on me from above, dripping with history.
This is my favorite movie of all time. I’m an Aerospace Engineer by degree. I could watch Interstellar almost every day. When I found this incredible composition of Hans Zimmer I could not believe my ears. Thank you so much for the Interstellar recreation! All the best, John S. Norman, OK.
I visited the Salisbury Cathedral last year and I got the opportunity to hear this organ being played and to be honest I don’t have words do explain how majestic this instrument sounds.
There was a competition some years back where the prize was a Cathedral style Organ. A father and daughter from our town went overseas and competed against people from around the world. They won. In Grafton New South Wales the organ within our Cathedral was won. I was fortunate to hear this duet play and the sounds are amazing. It’s like a sixth dimension is hitting you from the inside out.
Simply amazing sound. Four keyboards, foot pedals, hands, arms and feet all coordinating at once. Your neurons must be on fire playing this! My respect to the people who designed and built this beautiful piece of musical architecture.
Time to watch the movie again. Hans Zimmer is a musical genius by far. And Chris Nolan probably created one of the best and emotional movies ever. Soul touching.

The editing really made me try to imagine what it’s like to be the person sitting on the bench with their hands and feet on the keys. It must be an absolutely overwhelming experience to melt into an instrument the size of a large room and make the whole cathedral sing. Beautifully done. I’m going to go watch interstellar now.
There's something about the way the song was written is just so calming, he is amazing at playing the organ and the way the sound bounced of the walls. It leaves me speechless every time.😲🙂
This organ (master) can abosultely belt it out. The sound engineers deserve respect... I can blast this at home without distortion when many other things make my speakers buzz and have to turn them down. Family are considering a sound bar and told them this song will be the test of whether it's good.
That sounded epic, I just imagine being there in person to hear it. Cathedral organs like this, you don't just hear it, you feel it vibrate you! It's a wonderfully epic feeling. The only thing more epic is your playing! Bravo!!!
Zimmer in general, and especially Interstellar OST, is incredibly difficult to play right. I've seen so many career musicians fail utterly in following the very sensitive balance of rhythm and intensity. This was as perfect as a human is ever going to give you. Edit: No time for caution was walking a little bit :D
You asked about the motif... To me it is a mixture of sadness and hope. Interstellar can be one of the saddest movies you ever watch, or one of the most hopeful, and Hans somehow captured that in his music. Just my 2 cents worth, your mileage may differ :-) And thank you for a wonderful performance, and especially the peek into the setup of the crescendo. Awesome.
Excellent! An iconic soundtrack beautifully arranged and played by Richard on the lovely Salisbury Cathedral organ. Thank you to Richard and everyone involved for making this happen. Bravo! 👏👏👏👏
If you ever have the opportunity to attend an organ recital in a cathedral, do so. There is usually only a handful of people in attendance, so you have the whole cathedral...and the music...largely to yourself. A nighttime recital at St. Paul's in London is an awesome experience. You, a dozen or two other people, and the music.
Listening to this is absolutely amazing, my two 18 inch subwoofers were tearing up my house especially with the last low notes around 11:00! One of my dreams to hear this played live
I'd love to hear this played live whilst sat in the cathedral itself. One of my favourite recent films and for some reason i can't watch it without crying! Don't know why. Perhaps it's the subject matter underscored with the fabulous soundtrack? This reminds me of sitting in the church in the centre of Edinburgh a few years ago with my late sister listening to the wonderful organ playing "modern" tunes. Sublime.....oh I'm tearing up again! Just purchased the CD and can't wait to hear this on my stereo!
@Richard McVeigh | BEAUTY IN SOUND received the CD today and had a listen through my headphones. Sounds fantastic. Just one problem.....not long enough! I can stick it on repeat I suppose. Thank you.
Organs are just one of the most complex, but ornate instruments ever conceived. It's a piano, yes....but it needs MASSIVE pipes to allow its power to echo through the chambers. Simply no instrument in its caliber. Quite literally: angelic. Be safe everyone. Well performed, without question.
Since I discovered Interstellar movie, there hasn't been a single day when I haven't listened to its sound track. This is the best cover of score so far! I hope to listen to it live one day
Wow, quelle performance. Superbe vidéo 👏👏👏

i go to bishop wordsworth's grammar school (i know, the poshest name you've ever heard) and it's right next to the cathedral (you could see it it the drone shots) so we come to the cathedral for services and when the choir sings it is angelic - especially during something like the carol service.
I would pay to go and watch this in a cathedral
»The book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.
Abraham begat Isaac; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat Judas and his brethren;
And Judas begat Phares and Zara of Thamar; and Phares begat Esrom; and Esrom begat Aram;
And Aram begat Aminadab; and Aminadab begat Naasson; and Naasson begat Salmon;
And Salmon begat Booz of Rachab; and Booz begat Obed of Ruth; and Obed begat Jesse;
And Jesse begat David the king; and David the king begat Solomon of her that had been the wife of Urias;
And Solomon begat Roboam; and Roboam begat Abia; and Abia begat Asa;
And Asa begat Josaphat; and Josaphat begat Joram; and Joram begat Ozias;
And Ozias begat Joatham; and Joatham begat Achaz; and Achaz begat Ezekias;
And Ezekias begat Manasses; and Manasses begat Amon; and Amon begat Josias;
And Josias begat Jechonias and his brethren, about the time they were carried away to Babylon:
And after they were brought to Babylon, Jechonias begat Salathiel; and Salathiel begat Zorobabel;
And Zorobabel begat Abiud; and Abiud begat Eliakim; and Eliakim begat Azor;
And Azor begat Sadoc; and Sadoc begat Achim; and Achim begat Eliud;
And Eliud begat Eleazar; and Eleazar begat Matthan; and Matthan begat Jacob;
And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of The Holy Ghost.
Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of The Holy Ghost.
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS.«
(The Gospel of Jesus Christ - Matthew - Chapter 1)
It was amazing ❤
That opening to cornfield chase just immediately brought tears to my eyes. A brilliant performance of one of the greatest film scores ever written.
The film wasn't that half bad either
The cornfield scene and score is sometimes very hard to hear, and yet I go back to it over and over again.
Cornfield Chase might just be the most beautiful piece of music ever written
My first trip to Europe was in 1985. I was in Salisbury while a organ festival was going on. I could not get tickets for the organ concert; so, I sat outside the cathedral in the dark listening to the organ music. The cathedral was spotlit at night. What a great experience. As I wandered around the grounds, I was visited by the spirits of the ancient monks toiling around the cathedral. One of my favorite nights of the trip. After all these years, the memories remain vivid. It is as if I was there yesterday. Thanks for bringing them back.
if they play zimmer music, I’ll go everyday to church
I'm sure there are real organists playing in some of the churches. Mass is the pinnacle of God's love, and music is our response to how much we want to celebrate it
HOLY SHIT. I have never felt so many goosebumps. Just chilling and listening to this and my whole body feels like it left it’s self!!
Same. The greatest feeling in the world.
And eyes getting wet...
That's the Holy Spirit (it's a joke)
Literally said Holy Shit myself. Unreal. To see that live would have made my life never mind day.

Probably my favorite Hans Zimmer score, I think because it sounds so sweet and simple in some places, but still so deep and moving in others.
Bravo to the engineers that captured this audio. A fantastic job of capturing the essence of the space and instrument. Well done! I was moved because of your audio excellence. Again I say, well done.
Thank you. The only engineer was me 😉
And another to those that built the organ...
@@beautyinsound Take a bow sir!
@@michaelpettersson4919 Fair enough be imagine being responsible as the one to take those analog sounds and actually make them sound pretty decent digitally
I love it so much!!!🙏🙏❤
Amen.
Beyond 'music'.
This is one of those videos that you simply cannot turn off. Your brain wants to hear and see it.
I really wish you could do this as a public organ recital. I’d happily pay a handsome fee to see, hear and feel this on an epic organ. Blows my socks off.
imagine being able to play this in a massive hall to hundreds of people enjoying this masterpiece
imagine being able to play this in a massive hall to hundreds of people
imagine being able to play this in a massive hall
imagine being able to play this
Hans Zimmer has made me shed tears more times than any other human
This deserves millions of views
Wouldn’t that be nice! 😊
He's gonna get it
@Aryan Akhare he's gonna get it
Fun fact, this has 1 million views!!
1,6 now! \o/
Honestly, there aren't really any covers that sound this close to the original soundtrack... Great job!!
Thank you, appreciate that.
Norman, OK.
"no time for caution" is one of my absolute favorite tracks on the score for interstellar. i am in awe of hearing it on a live organ.
It’s like a sixth dimension is hitting you from the inside out.
which church?
i think that's the best thing that I ever heard in my entire life
Simply amazing sound. Four keyboards, foot pedals, hands, arms and feet all coordinating at once. Your neurons must be on fire playing this! My respect to the people who designed and built this beautiful piece of musical architecture.
I'm so glad current composers such as Zimmer are appreciated for this kind of art. Cinema composition has produced pieces that will last centuries.
Time to watch the movie again. Hans Zimmer is a musical genius by far. And Chris Nolan probably created one of the best and emotional movies ever. Soul touching.
This movie unlocked so much emotion in me. It needs to be re released in theaters

You guys did a great job making this video! It sounds wonderful!🤩🤩
Yeah well done
What an instrument, and what use of it! My word. How did Hanz Zimmer not receive an Oscar for this OST?
Because Hollywood is in the hands of "the world"...
Things divine go beyond it ... at least most of the time!
No Time for Caution is spectacular, no matter how many times I hear or see it.
When you only read the comments at the end you know it’s been special. Thank you so much.
You’re welcome, glad you enjoyed it!
Imagine being in that chapel when this is played... Heaven on Earth ❤
There's something about the way the song was written is just so calming, he is amazing at playing the organ and the way the sound bounced of the walls. It leaves me speechless every time.😲🙂
Cornfield Chase is absolutely amazing ❤
This organ (master) can abosultely belt it out. The sound engineers deserve respect... I can blast this at home without distortion when many other things make my speakers buzz and have to turn them down.
Family are considering a sound bar and told them this song will be the test of whether it's good.
Dude’s playing a whole building instead of an instrument.
This is insane. Cheers, absolutely stunning xx
The positivity here is so refreshing. Thank you, everyone!
Came here for the music (which is amazing), but, wow, this cathedral really looks amazing, truly an architectural marvel.
This is breath taking. I've never heard all the songs put together like this. Imagine the music we could make if we had four arms instead of two.
I don't know what it is but this is one of the most emotional movie scores I've heard. It's just fantastic.
The sound of the cathedral matches perfectly to the mood. goosebumbs!
I will pay money to sit there and listen to this. Its lovely thank you for sharing.
Awesome.
Thanks 🙏
If this doesn't give you goosebumps, then I wouldn't want to be you.
You know what the central part of a cathedral is called in portuguese? "Nave". Guess what a spaceship is called in the same language.
The organ is the most OP musical instrument that you pull out of your arsenal
Anyone within 10 miles of this performance felt the CHILLS ! Absolutely amazing
And the video footage of the interior of the cathedral was magical
working through the stops @ 2:00" and 4:30" to just open the taps is pure organ essence.
Stay is definitely my favorite here because it had so much build up and gets so heart wrenching at the end
One of the greatest movie soundtracks in the last decade. Very well done.
Listening to this is absolutely amazing, my two 18 inch subwoofers were tearing up my house especially with the last low notes around 11:00! One of my dreams to hear this played live
Sasiedzi cie zabija ;)
Must be overwhelming listening that piece in a hifi setup 😮
@@xevi2889 Its very good but imagine being right there!
Glad you enjoyed it Andrew, and thank you for your purchase. It should even better on your hifi! 😃
Thank you very much!
i knew we already had something special here but that first crescendo nearly brought a tear to my eye. Absolutely phenomenal cover.
Thank you!
Merci du fond du cœur de nous faire partager ces notes magiques et magnifiques auxquelles votre talent se joint aux orgues . Mes sincères compliments Richard
You’re very welcome! 😊
Thank you very mutch 😊
After flying radio controlled helicopters carrying cameras for work starting back in 1996, then transitioning to drones a number of years ago, I can truely appreciate the aerial footage you have captured Richard. And then there is the music… Hard to find the adjectives to describe how superlative that performance was!! I’m transported to another place and getting a sense of the the vast limitless scale of the universe. Spellbinding!
This music is too good to have been added to a film.
The film distracts you from the brilliance of the score!
I remember the day in my childhood walking into Salisbury Cathedral when the organist was playing, Amazing sound that has stayed with me since. Beautiful 👍
This is one of the most beautiful and impressive things I’ve ever seen! I love Interstellar, one of my all time favourite movies. That cornfield chase part of the score hits my soul!
Loved the entire "No Time For Caution" section : massive timbre and power....and those bass pedals ....🥰💗👌
This soundtrack is simply amazing, it takes you straight to the endless universe.
I feel like i can fly out of my body with the interestellar music, reach like a higher level of consciousness. Such a master piece. Thank you for doing this.
No time for caution has to be the most intense scene ever. Bravo on this absolute masterpiece sir.
The most precious creative asset of humanity
incredible, the sound , the atmosphere, i wish i was there live .
also to imagine these organs are the largest musical instruments i the world.
Hes playing one note thats siiting on the other side of the room, as the whole room is a soudchamber.
I actually get the shivers hairs on my skin go up...with the film original score...and hes pulled this off....same physical reaction....❤
Man, I must say....... love the sound track of this movie. This is the best remake I've ever seen. Excellent, Perfecto
That's just fantastic. What an instrument! Wish I was sitting in the stands listening to this!
The Cathedral’s organist was sat underneath the pipes and I’m assured it was very loud 😉
this is for real! The beast film score by Hans Zimmer that portrays the inmensity and solitude of space-time
I've no words to explain what I'm feeling right now.
Oh do try!
This is the music that makes the movie even better, thrilling and impressive... very well played...
Das hätte ich gerne live gehört..
Das klingt unglaublich schön..
Wahnsinn 👍
Великолепно!! Орган любимый музыкальный инструмент! Какое звучание, исполнение! Восторг и огромное спасибо !
Listening to this with eyes closed comes close to an outer body experience. Just stunning and beautifully played.
Потрясающая до глубины души музыка , звучание органа!!!
All I can think of when I hear this music by Hans Zimmer is how amazed famous historical classical composers would have been, like imagine Mozart's reaction to hearing this. He would have loved it!
Teria achado bom, apenas. Kkkk
Ein brachiales Instrument. Der Sound ist einmalig. Perfekt gespielt. Danke 👍🏻💪🏻
Just...WOW. I live in Salisbury and would LOVE to hear this live and be able to feel the music reverberating through my chest. Incredible job, I wish my late Dad could have heard this.
You probably could’ve heard it if you’d opened your window. It was loud!
@@beautyinsound awesome!!!
@@beautyinsoundI'm now wondering if that's what I heard. Was this done in November or December? I distinctly remember hearing the music (I live 5 minutes away from the cathedral) but I had assumed it was some kind of music club practice as there is a choir/band group close by
