Only a fellow pianist could understand how insanely good she is because she makes it look so easy. The first part of the song is not hard and virtually anyone who knows how to play piano could do it. So when I read a title that says “Most insane cover,” I’m expecting to be blown away. About halfway through the song, she DID blow me away and she just kept going. By the end, my jaw was almost on the floor.

@Hey Girl I Like Your Kitchen Romania jazz can be both easy and hard aswell. same with classical music. I'll say as well, she had obviously practiced the shit out of this song. She didn't just walk up to a piano and thought oh let me just whack out interstellar quickly. This might've taken her months and months of practice. Still absolute talent, but I think you weirded it wordly to act as if she hadn't prepared for this moment. I'm a pianist and if I stop and play a piano, people only see me playing the piece there and then, but they dont see the years of practice I've put behind it, but that doesn't make it easy for me, it means I've trained my ass off to be there.

    • @dennisk.7149

It is almost impossible to play perfectly with nails this long in terms of phrasing or dynamics in generell. In most piano pieces the pinky finger has to be the strongest cause the notes played by it have to be louder than the other ones. You can only develop full strength in your fingers if the fingers are upright and your fingertips touch the keys. The fingers shouldnt kink which is not the case as you can see on her left hand while she is playing. It was an amazing performance anyways!

I've played piano since 5 - I'm 55 now. And I'm speechless. Yet so many thoughts. I love when someone not only plays a piece, but feels it as they play it. And this piece is so moving, sums up the movie - which is at heart about time, love, loss, what a father would do, what kids sacrifice - all through the passage of time. "Because my dad promised me..." And yet, in the midst of this beauty, this emotion, which perfectly reflects the passage of time and the choices we make and the love we have, lose, yet always have - there are people just walking by their busy lives; can't even stop for 5 minutes 55 seconds, (wow - did I lead with I started playing at 5, and now I'm 55? Was not intentional. Universe talking loud and clear.), anyhow...everyone else just went about their day. Why? Couldn't pause on their way to Aunt Annie's pretzel? Needed to grab that shirt at The Gap? Wanted to beat traffic out of the lot? In any event, the video captures everything wrong with most of our lives. Sadly, when she stops playing, there are 4 people there to applaud. The video has received 24 million views in 2 years. The ability to put life on pause for less than 6 minutes to take in this genius expression of emotion was heard by 4. Sad for the rest of the world, but grateful that I'd be one of the four, and happy to see so many watching this here.
