Growing up in the 60s, we had the best music ever. No rascism in music, such a shame it isn't like that now x
Amen...
60s and 70s but the 60s were better into early 70s
My favorite Motown group!😍
February 2024, some things just do not age but get better with time, beautiful, thank you.🥇
THANKS GOD FOR LETTING US ENJOY THEM BEFORE CALLING THEM HOME.🙏
God only takes the best x
I saw the Temps and the Tops in Chicago Illinois a lifetime ago. They had a talent for pulling your heart out of you and kissing you with their music. Damn. We were indeed Blessed as a generation, to have these musicians in our lives.
Big up yourself masogotam! Levi Stubbs! What a voice! He makes all the difference! I can listen to him (four tops) for hours non-stop!!

Mister Mosogotam. I read somewhere here on your You tube Channel that you passed away on April 5th, 2020 due to Covid. Your remixes are wonderful, of great value. I hope this channel will survive. Thank you for all your efforts and RIP. Ivan.

Man, I play this all the time. It's so hard to imagine this will live forever! Wish they were still around so I could compliment them. Always loved the 4 tops. Oh, oh...Gotta play this again!
Nice job. This version of this song by the Tops should play on forever........
John Rabbitt I’m sure it will. Perfect arrangement.
Brilliant song, wish I had the range of the stunning backing singers. Amazing times! Uk fans
The Four Tops version of this song was 10 times better than Bobby Darren's version. I first heard this song on my Four Tops album while on my way to Viet Nam. I still have the album.
Thanks for your service!!
I like Robert Plants version but the 4 Tops nailed it. I am a carpenter so I know
Each to their pwn. For me, Bobby Darin is the definition of this song. The Four Tops is the next but second to the master talent that Darin was.
You’re all wrong the best version of if I were a carpenter is Tim Hardin the guy who wrote it.He sings it with such passion and feeling and his guitar playing is sublime and the overall performance is magical.
Beautiful
I love this tune
1st heard this middle of April 1968 on Philadelphias famous 56 wfil at 11 yers old in the 5th grade!
MLK was assasinated and my uncle was kia in South Vietnam mid March 1968 , tail end of TET! 10 days b 4 my 11th bday.
1968 was a radical year! The year after the Monterey Pop Festival mid june 1967, and the year before Woodstock mid-8/1969. 1969 was another turbulent year.Vietnam War was raging on!
WoW! this is an all day hummer. Somebody give me some more quarters to put in this jukebox. This song is off the charts!

I 've heard many versions of this song, but no one does better than Bobby Darin or the Four Tops in which I love both versions. And what you've done with this, just knocks off my feet. You just keep blowing my mind the way you mixed and rearranged is....Masterful !!! As you can see, it seems that only I appreciate your work. KEEP IT UP..... I'M LISTENING !!!!

If I Were a Carpenter" is a song written by Tim Hardin. Hardin's own recording of the piece appeared on his 1967 album Tim Hardin 2
People who record other people's hit songs normally fall flat on their face with me. The original is "ALWAYS" better right? There are are a few exceptions however, and this is one of the very few. I bought an album that had this song back in 1967, and was disappointed that it never made the top 10. (not even sure it was ever released as a single) All od these great songs were too short due to radio back in the day that wouldn't play songs over 3 minutes. I think we lost a lot of good music due to that. Later however, much longer songs would be played on the air.
Agreed. Joe Cocker pulled off a wonderful version of Beatles With a little help from my friends. Almost as if it was written for him.
Gee this is gorgeous.
2017 and sounding as good today as it ever did.Of course Johns added touch makes this one extra little bit of a beauty beyond words.Just listen to those Detroit Symphony Strings.John do you know if The Detroit Symphony Orchestra have ever done an album of Motown tunes.
Thanks a whole lot, John! Well one thing I think the Detroit Strings are on is "The San Remo Strings' "Hungry for Love"....and that was the Detroit Strings.
2019 STILL GREAT THANKS.
Not the original version of this classic, but I think its the best ever recorded
Motown, CKLW no other combo in history can top THIS

These guys had a "lucky escape" almost perished In December 1988. Fortunately, devine Intervention prevented It!!...BBC NEWS..."The last surviving original member of The Four Tops has revealed the Motown group almost boarded the plane that was blown up over Lockerbie.
Pan Am Flight 103 was on its way from London to New York in 1988 when a bomb went off on board while it was above the Scottish town.
Duke Fakir said: "The producer on Top of The Pops was the reason we didn't get on that plane."
Great sound (is it meant to be Northern sound ?)
