I am 30 years old sir and I still cry when I listen to it. It’s absolutely beautiful and will have you seeing heavens rays leaving the sky embracing us.
I heard this first time back in 1992 wen I was released after a 6 yr sting as a juvenile offender… 19 yrs old and the world as my oyster… never served time again.. except for a 20 yr sting in the US Navy.. I’d like to give this jam some credit for letting me realize how this young man that was raised by an unforgiving mother named Texas was able to learn her lessons of violence and loneliness could find solace in song

Not just the voices with the music but the intruments- all making a nice blend!!! My ears will always welcome such beauty as long as am alive! Thanks for sharing!

These four guys brought so much joy to my life. Levi, the perfect gentleman, Obie always with a joke in his back pocket, Lawrence…my sweet Lawrence, with the smile that lit up the sky and Duke, the businessman who put everything in it’s proper perspective. My brothers will forever be with me. My Obie who constantly reminded me he was taking care of Levi. You have no idea the love, honor and respect they had for each other and the love the three had for Levi. I got a tearful hug from Duke a couple of months ago. Missing you guys today!🙏🏾💔❤️🥲🥲🥲

So many memories from this version of Still Waters. Four Tops did their thang with this one. 1970. 3 years old listening to this everyday around the house. Beautiful song.

Miss Four Tops so badly and nowadays very few people interact that life feels so cold . I just can't understand why leaders have not listened to the greats of the past especially the seventies era. I thought leaders would listen and learn and implement their knowledge with everyone but they seem to not care about anyone and have not listened to our artists and authors and the world seems destined to be careless and now artificial intelligence seems to be the only thing they are concerned with. Marvin Gay(e) as well as millions of other creative people told them in a prophetic way but they have not listened and it seems to me that this is going to begin a world that doesn't care any more. I hope I am wrong but this is the conclusion I have arrived at 63 years old. Peace and Love Always.
I never understood why Smokey and Frank never got any awards or the recognition for this BEAUTIFUL song! It has always been among Smokey's greatest masterpieces.
Smokey Robinson was the greatest songwriter of all time... Many artists have done his songs and he wrote for many of the Motown greats. This is a beautiful collaboration with Frank Wilson.. I tried to copy Smokey's falsetto because I loved it so much.. Beautiful and precious song for all to hear. I am thankful to have been exposed to all of this music growing up.

Unfortunately so many have gone on to glory, and still missing them and can not and will not forget! Especially my mom, but here by the grace of God, to try to make the best of a very sad situation😭😭😭
The proverb of "Still Waters Run Deep" on how a quiet or placid manner may conceal a more passionate nature gives me chills.. I love this song, the message and poetry it spills...
I srill say being a babyboomer was the Greatest years to grow up in🤍It was the Best years of my Life. The music was so Good and Pure. Im still listening. Rock on all ya hippies out here with Me 🖤✌️

Every time I hear this song I go straight back to where I was. Sitting in music class listening to Mr Pittman giving us lessons on the scales and things. Wish I'd paid more attention.
...this is for Bill, my husband of 42 years...still waters brought us to this point - peace and love resides within our home.....and yet it's so...still waters run deep!
@Brenda wow that's a blessing. I don't believe marriage is in my future, nor a meaningful relationship as for those who find thier lifelong companion i wish them everlasting happiness.
This has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded....and certainly by Four Tops who, for my money, were the greatest male group that ever existed.
For almost one half a century, I have listen to this incredible song...I love it as much today as 46 years ago. How lucky we were to have had Levi, Smokey and Frank. I wish the beauty of this song could make all people put down their fears and hate. If we all took the hand of our neighbor and felt the love that we should have for one another....P is for the privilege of loving and the privilege of being loved....Walk with me....take my hand!!
54 years on & I still remember all the words. It's a very evocative track & one of THE best Mowtown tracks ever. I feel privileged to have lived through the Motown era. This track was always the sign-off track played by the DJ when I was dating my 1st real girlfriend back in 1970 ❤❤❤❤❤
I listen to this periodically, I grew up in a chaotic house, but was lucky that my eldest bro, introduced me to soul music, always playing in his bedroom. Even as a little girl of 5 and upwards, I knew there was something special about these words and the sentiment behind them. Very grateful to have such beauty for the ears, mind and soul. ✌
I am a 69year old female and this song does move me to tears . You are right people cared then . This class act can never be duplicated! TIMELESS!! The music today will never stand the test of time like the music then.
I love how Levi would not ever let someone get away with calling the group Levi and the Four Tops and even had an announcer return to the microphone and reintroduce the group as THE FOUR TOPS... Simply THE FOUR TOPS!!!!!
This very simple song and simple lyrics saids so much. It tells of standing alone in a society of tormoil. However, you look at the decaying and know that you are still living and surviving as best as you can.YES, "Still Waters Run Deep". No one writes songs like this anymore that touch the Heart, Soul and Mind of a HUMAN-BEING. I am so blessed to have been alive when this song was created. I thank the Four Tops for such a heart felt song today. ☮️.
This song echoed throughout the streets of my community, when I was a kid, always playing in stores, out second floor Windows, flowing in the wind, hearing it in background but I never knew the words until recently. Now, it takes on a new meaning and new depth of precious, profound nostalgia, meaning and memory
These song are truly masterpieces looking at it from todays frame of reference. The lyrics, music, musicians, singers, arrangements, sound engineering, orchestration…..everything was just in synch. 👏👏👏

Levi Stubbs - THE most underrated soul singer. DIVINE ONE - an extra-nice post
i agree johnnie Levi was the king.he could sing anything and every word was meant.
Ditto....My favorite
IMHO Levi Stubbs is the greatest singer to grace this earth, with Frankie Miller a close 2nd. Peace And Love
HES NOT UNDERRATED IN MOTOWN THATS FOR SURE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've always loved Levi! But he was even greater than I believed. What a bonus to here him and the tops again!
The proverb of "Still Waters Run Deep" on how a quiet or placid manner may conceal a more passionate nature gives me chills.. I love this song, the message and poetry it spills...
I love this as much or more than when I 1st heard it, Levi was and is the man with a golden voice, RIP
Love this one Richard Banks
Pedro Marin Now that was Poetry in itself.... great definition of the meaning of itself

Every time I hear this song I go straight back to where I was. Sitting in music class listening to Mr Pittman giving us lessons on the scales and things. Wish I'd paid more attention.
Beautiful song

I am the same. Old school all the way. Sorry kids. This is what music is all about. A message of love from the heart thru song.
I'm 68 still listen to this song thanks again guys for good times back in the days 🤣💗
This has to be one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded....and certainly by Four Tops who, for my money, were the greatest male group that ever existed.
👍👍👍👍 🎤🎤🎤🎤
For almost one half a century, I have listen to this incredible song...I love it as much today as 46 years ago. How lucky we were to have had Levi, Smokey and Frank. I wish the beauty of this song could make all people put down their fears and hate. If we all took the hand of our neighbor and felt the love that we should have for one another....P is for the privilege of loving and the privilege of being loved....Walk with me....take my hand!!

When I'm having a bad day this song lifts me up, and when I'm having a good day this song makes it even better.
54 years on & I still remember all the words.
It's a very evocative track & one of THE best Mowtown tracks ever.
I feel privileged to have lived through the Motown era.
This track was always the sign-off track played by the DJ when I was dating my 1st real girlfriend back in 1970
❤❤❤❤❤
Beautiful and timeless
Absolutely beautiful!! Praise God for such a time!
Spine tingling. This is one of the best tunes ever.

Absolute chills & tears. 😑🎵🙌🏽✴✌🏼
Yes Indeed and NoDoubt!!!
Listen to the instrumental backing wrapped around those beautiful words.
So so beautiful !
Simply devine 👍
63 years of age and brings all them memories back🇬🇧
I never would take lightly calling a song the greatest ever; but if anyone picked this song I could understand why they did!
What a brilliant group of vocalists..Levi...Wow...always be best vocalist to me ♥️
I love how Levi would not ever let someone get away with calling the group Levi and the Four Tops and even had an announcer return to the microphone and reintroduce the group as THE FOUR TOPS... Simply THE FOUR TOPS!!!!!
Helped us get through Nam!

Georgeous and timeless classic.
Indeed
Well said.
never knew the meaning but always loved the song thanks!
Ya damn raht daddi ! You are so darn right! The Four Tops are the "CATS MEOW"
This song echoed throughout the streets of my community, when I was a kid, always playing in stores, out second floor Windows, flowing in the wind, hearing it in background but I never knew the words until recently. Now, it takes on a new meaning and new depth of precious, profound nostalgia, meaning and memory
This is simply TOP SHELF material. Second to none. It touches the soul. Levi owns it. R.I.P.
So true
These song are truly masterpieces looking at it from todays frame of reference. The lyrics, music, musicians, singers, arrangements, sound engineering, orchestration…..everything was just in synch. 👏👏👏
I'm 61 and love this song, and thanks for sharing ❤
God I miss the 60's and 70's. I miss my late wife, who would snuggle up to me listening to motown, what a gem 💎
I think about Frank Wilson and will always remember what a wonderful person and soul he was , when I hear this song........RIP !
Sitting in a lost place call Vietnam and did this song help Thanks Top's.

The 4 Tops & Jerry Butler helped me make it thru 9 months of hell in the rice paddies of South Vietnam
duke harris I was in the mess hall listening to this, Germany was good duty, divine providence I had been praying. The tops, the best!!!!
How about "does anyone know I'm Here" by the Dells? Or a soldiers prayer by Archie bell and the drells?
Thanks for your sacrifice 👍❤️👏
