Patrick, you have one of the highest quality channels on RUclips. It's because of you that my Jazz Bass will be here soon. Watching your channel helped me really appreciate the Jazz and see it for the beastly rock bass it can be. So thanks for that. I can't wait to hear what you do next, buddy.
this is the best demo i have seen yet....most play different riff with each different setting...which makes it hard to hear what each setting does. you do this fantastic by playing the same riff over and over with each setting. cant wait to watch some of your other demos. great job
I love this pedal! Sounds great with my Warwick corvette. The mod and blend knobs make it the most versatile distortion pedal IMO. And it has so many features that i ended up using this, a compressor and a tuner
Another great video Patrick! Excellent demonstration of the capabilities of this awesome pedal, - thank you. And you're that good you even make me want to play with a pick!
Hey Mister P, great demo again! I just finished up recording our new album using the M900 and the Omnicron. Blended the Omega-side with the B3K. Cheers!
Great demo, gassing for one of these but am going to have to hold out a bit... I'm hoping the bring out a Microtubes amp with this modelling tech in it...
Nice demo. I was looking for detailed info on what the two footswitches do, most notably the distortion engage switch - I'm aware it has a dual function - was hoping you'd cover that.
I've recently joined up with a country / southern rock project and am looking for something to add a lil bit of growl and grit to my tone for dynamics / filler for when the guitarist drops out for a solo. My Big Muff is the wrong grit for that even with an LS-2 to blend it to barely there. As a long time alt rock player I love the Darkglass stuff and I'm thinking this might be the right pedal. Any other pedals you'd recommend taking a peek at for someone looking to add just a smidge of anger to their tone?
NICE! And it seems easy to use. I thought it might me a little to much in a pedal, but it looks great. Now i need to figure out if i need to replace my Alphe Omega!
Awesome demo, patrick. \m/ that's pretty cool that you demoed the pedal with different basses. sounds awesome with the fender jazz and the Ibanez sr505. I can imagine how killer it would sound with a schecter stiletto.
Cab sim makes such a huuuuuuge difference. I have tried B7K and to me all their products sound awful when going D.I., but this thing is killer, finally some did it (i mean cab sim in the pedal).
Patrick, your gonna have to do a comparison review of the BK7U Vs the AOU, especially for those of us who like to use the box as an always on preamp with the option of stomping in some face melting distortion. What would you say are the tonal differences between the BK7 and AlphaOmega circuits clean, without distortion and then with distortion? Or better yet, send me one of each and I'll let you know what i think. Shotalot
Do I need to use the direct output with cabinet simulation on, through an audio interface in addition to the micro USB to use the Darglass Suite impulses? Or do I only need the micro USB to use them?
You can simply plug in the micro usb and listen to the different cab sims via the headphone jack on the pedal! But to record, you'll need an audio interface
Sorry, one more question. In order to hear it do you need your headphones to be plugged straight into the pedal, or can I use a USB headphone plugged into my computer?
Hi i got mine laat week i love the sound ,tobe of it but i dont know how or when to used the CaB botton its is okie to use both the output and XLR... Its okie direct it to mixer the XLR then mono to amp?
Question, I have a basic Sans Amp pedal, but im looking the practicity of preamp and distortion in the same pedal, this could be the option??? is easy to use in live sessions?
Hey man, i just got mine today, and i am having difficulty finding the sweet spot while trying to dial it in. This is exactly the tone i am looking for. is the settings you have on the demo pic in the video the same settings for the video?
I don't want to break my brand new pedal, so anyone could tell me what DC adapter I should use? I'm in France (Europe). Thanks a lot, great demo video!
I'm using a korg tuner, Carl Martian chorus, MXR flange, and a Eventide time factor pedal in that order, where's the best placing for this pedal? After the tuner?
Please can someone explain me the point of having a pre amp pédale when one is playing on an amp with its own pre amp system? Other question : If I put a reverb after this pedal, will it sound good? I heard some people complaining about this pedal not having a FX loop but don't understand why because according to me, a OD or distortion pedal doesn't have to go in the FX loop. Thank you guys
Could you use the direct output with cab sim to go through a PA live if your amp head died? My amp is very unreliable and could be a useful backup plan
Hey Patrick, if I’m looking for that Eddie Jackson tone on Empire, Geezer Butler’s tone on Black Sabbath’s 13, or Rex Brown’s tone, or Alice In Chains, would this pedal be able to attain a close proximity?
Why not just buy one of the software systems that let you create your own or any sound and run it from your cell phone or PC. Plus for the price you get tons of effects and cab and head sounds to use that no stompbox like this can touch.
I'm not a darkglass hater, great company built from the ground up and Doug is a standup guy but I'll tell ya, people just buy these things because they're expensive. I could put in a cheap Boss ODB-3 circuit into a Darkglass casing and sell it for $400 and Darkglass fans would think it's the most amazing sounding distortion pedal of all time.
I see what ur saying but play this on good speakers the distortion has such a flavor to it compare it to other demos plus this one holds the low end really well to me and so many features
I can't tell what's bigger - the sound of that pedal or your beard.
bahahaha thanks dude!
It's really close.
Fear the beard!!!
You continue to have the best demos on the internet.
I want one.
Thank you so much, Ben! Truly appreciate hearing things like that!
I hate Darkglass, cause i don't have enough money to keep buying their awesome products!
Furious Viking check out SweetWater
Patrick, you have one of the highest quality channels on RUclips. It's because of you that my Jazz Bass will be here soon. Watching your channel helped me really appreciate the Jazz and see it for the beastly rock bass it can be. So thanks for that. I can't wait to hear what you do next, buddy.
Excellent review! Thanks for playing real bass lines, and showing all the settings.
this is the best demo i have seen yet....most play different riff with each different setting...which makes it hard to hear what each setting does. you do this fantastic by playing the same riff over and over with each setting. cant wait to watch some of your other demos. great job
I love that you also have an SR505
I think is may be the best one that you made a video on so far
Thank you dude!!!
I love this pedal! Sounds great with my Warwick corvette. The mod and blend knobs make it the most versatile distortion pedal IMO. And it has so many features that i ended up using this, a compressor and a tuner
I just loved this distortion. The sound is heavy and sounds greats on JB basses.
Dude, this thing looks and sounds amazing! Also we got a pedal demo, bass comparison and an IR comparison. Fantastic work dude!!
What I like the most about your demos, is that it's obvious that you love what u are doing.
The next level in Darkglass sound!!! Awesome!!!!!
Holy shit that demo was incredible
Finally, the demo is here!
good demo. some really useful setting suggestions. Thanks.
Another great video Patrick! Excellent demonstration of the capabilities of this awesome pedal, - thank you. And you're that good you even make me want to play with a pick!
I always look forward to your video as a concert. A great job! Great distortion!
Definitely my next birthday gift! Awesome review!
Hey Mister P, great demo again! I just finished up recording our new album using the M900 and the Omnicron. Blended the Omega-side with the B3K. Cheers!
Once again, great demo. Thanks so much.
Great demo, gassing for one of these but am going to have to hold out a bit... I'm hoping the bring out a Microtubes amp with this modelling tech in it...
If I were you I'd get this and a good power amp, and forget about waiting around.
Good shout, I think I'll need to look into that.
Awesome 🖤🤘
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It's confirmed, the longer the beard, the better the playing! You're the modern day Samson!! (Ok, maybe the pedal had something to do with it too lol)
Nice demo. I was looking for detailed info on what the two footswitches do, most notably the distortion engage switch - I'm aware it has a dual function - was hoping you'd cover that.
sick pedal, awesome video!
Un abrazo desde Uruguay . Siempre veo tus vídeos . Un grande
Fuck yeah - nice playing and thats a mean sounding pedal!
Hey! I noticed that while you're using a Jazz Bass, you have a P-bass neck. Did you buy a new P-Bass neck and put it on a standard Jazz Bass?
I've recently joined up with a country / southern rock project and am looking for something to add a lil bit of growl and grit to my tone for dynamics / filler for when the guitarist drops out for a solo. 1:08 *can u please make tabs for this? it sounds awesome and i wanna learn it!*
NICE! And it seems easy to use. I thought it might me a little to much in a pedal, but it looks great. Now i need to figure out if
i need to replace my Alphe Omega!
Dude you just sold me this pedal.
Amazing
Awesome demo, patrick. \m/ that's pretty cool that you demoed the pedal with different basses. sounds awesome with the fender jazz and the Ibanez sr505. I can imagine how killer it would sound with a schecter stiletto.
Awesome sauce!!
The best kind of sauce!
some pretty bad ass fuzz. i need a fuzz pedal
Cool intro riff!
Difference between this pedal and the Microtubes B7K ultra?
Gilbertx Different drive circuit and EQ section. The AO circuit is a more thick, full distortion, the B7K circuit is much more cutting and present
got that Chancellor look going on! nice
would this be a more aggressive departure from a sans amp?
Cab sim makes such a huuuuuuge difference. I have tried B7K and to me all their products sound awful when going D.I., but this thing is killer, finally some did it (i mean cab sim in the pedal).

Ahhh found it. Well done sir, well done.
B7k vs AO.
Okay, thanks for the help!
Sorry, one more question. In order to hear it do you need your headphones to be plugged straight into the pedal, or can I use a USB headphone plugged into my computer?
I didn't try USB headphones but I could use the headphone out on my Focusrite Scarlett and hear it direct through that, hope that helps some
Thanks for the help! I can't wait to get my paws on that pedal.
Cant decide between this or the one with the cab impulse
Hi i got mine laat week i love the sound ,tobe of it but i dont know how or when to used the CaB botton its is okie to use both the output and XLR... Its okie direct it to mixer the XLR then mono to amp?
This is tough. Alpha Omega Ultra or B7k ultra. Both have cab sim. Is the Alpha Omegas distortion tighter?
Question, I have a basic Sans Amp pedal, but im looking the practicity of preamp and distortion in the same pedal, this could be the option??? is easy to use in live sessions?
Bass, dark glass, interface, daw. Can I get these sounds just using these?
Hey man, i just got mine today, and i am having difficulty finding the sweet spot while trying to dial it in.
This is exactly the tone i am looking for. is the settings you have on the demo pic in the video the same settings for the video?
badass!
What model j bass is that? Or at least what is that color called
I don't want to break my brand new pedal, so anyone could tell me what DC adapter I should use? I'm in France (Europe).
Thanks a lot, great demo video!
Just standard 9v adapter with center negative(-), they are all the same.
@@clawbass888 thanks! I thought so but was not sure.
I've got pedals from every manufacturer you can think of. My only "must haves" are the Darkglass pedals. Nobody sounds like Darkglass.
Should I buy the normal one or the ultra version?
I'm using a korg tuner, Carl Martian chorus, MXR flange, and a Eventide time factor pedal in that order, where's the best placing for this pedal? After the tuner?
Tuner>darkglass>chorus>flange>time factor
How would it work as a preamp, no distortion?
How would you compare this to the Vintage Ultra? Also, how about some finger tones?
From 0:31 till 0:56 he uses fingers
Pseudo Future in the background. Sick.
Really thinking about getting one of these. But I can’t decide between this and a B7K V2 :(
Tyler Newman this.
Tyler Newman I have both and this one preserves the uniqueness of your tone.
There is too many reasons.
I would love to listen to some clean sounds and see what this is up to, but all the demo is distorted.
its a distortion pedal....
Could you use the direct output with cab sim to go through a PA live if your amp head died? My amp is very unreliable and could be a useful backup plan
Yes you can! The direct output with the cab simulation can go straight to the front of house and sound phenomenal.
Widdle Ewu awesome!! Cheers for your help
Sounds a little thin, on my iPhone. 😬
what guage strings? seem floppy
Are these riffs your own?
THAT POCKET THOUGH
Digital?
Hey Patrick, if I’m looking for that Eddie Jackson tone on Empire, Geezer Butler’s tone on Black Sabbath’s 13, or Rex Brown’s tone, or Alice In Chains, would this pedal be able to attain a close proximity?
Ok nice and modern but how much does this cost?
bronchitemorale $400
What camera do you use for videos?
kenneth conlon Canon 70D, friend
Patrick Hunter sweet thanks. And what part of Texas you live in?
DFW!
Patrick Hunter mind blown! Cheers buddy.
Watched this video probably close to 20 times over the past 3 weeks, and i just had to have one... so i got one for my 18th lol
It makes the coffee too ?! :D
Nope.. But I'll add a coffeemaker to my board soon!!
Great sounding demo, great sounding pedal but very expensive, I’ll sick with my orange amp.
Killstrike6660 there's a reason it's the price it is.
Do a future impact pedal review
So can I use this as an EQ?
The 18 people who gave this a Thumbs Down are the "better than you" type.
Fronz is that you?
OK so has anyone else seen some... Drool, snot? Something dripping from the area of his face at 26 seconds....
Please explain, I need answers!
sin dudas el mejor :)
My man!!! Thanks dude!
This demo would have been 10x better if you played anything other than dad basses. I would also cut the 200 down because it sounds muddy.
lol what exactly qualifies as a "dad bass" 😂
@@patrickhunter not black? Lol
I didn’t know Jack Pattillo played bass.
Seth Shumaker I thought the same thing! 😀
Seth Shumaker Once I started the video it's totally a different look, but that thumbnail...
Why not just buy one of the software systems that let you create your own or any sound and run it from your cell phone or PC. Plus for the price you get tons of effects and cab and head sounds to use that no stompbox like this can touch.
Do you bring your PC when you gig ?
are you serious?
Because sims on a computer or a phone will never stack up to actual gear
Hey Patrick can i get the B7k tone out of this pedal?
Great playing. In my opinion the sound in beginning has just far too much treble
#IWANTDATALPHAOMEGAULTRA ;)
Didn't know Seth Rogen is very good at bass.
Say "Alpha Omega Ultra" fast ten times and try not to laugh! Lol
I'm not a darkglass hater, great company built from the ground up and Doug is a standup guy but I'll tell ya, people just buy these things because they're expensive. Seth Rogen on da bass
#IWANTDATGLASS
maybe that will help me 😅
OK, it's just a joke. Thank you for all you're doing)
You look Amish in this vid. That’s not a bad thing.....just saying.
