I TOTALLY agree. I own about ten bass OD/Distortion pedals because they're FUN to collect, and because I'm still searching for the one all / be all. Now that I found Darkglass, it's now which ones of those to collect. I'm currently using the B3K and looking at the AOUltra next.
I have the same squier jazz bass classic vibe that you show at beginn, i apreciate so much your videos, they are very helpfull to choose the efect pedals and just for fun to wacht it.
The intro jam sounds like a bit like -Human. Watching this video just makes me want to get this pedal even more. That Schecter sounds mighty and nice touch with the QR code :)
I actually shelved my EBS microbass 2 for this, that is an awesome bit of kit, I prefer this, I can't say why, the EBS is first class, but I prefer the sound this puts out, and it's simpler to use.
That switch for disabling / enabling the distortion circuit is the alpha and omega of this pedal. Seriously, why don't more brands do this? I have a Sansamp Bass Driver DI and the distortion you can get from it is pretty decent, but to enable it you have to turn the drive knob up and the level knob down, making it useless in a live setting. GAH, I want this pedal now...
Maybe I'm using it wrong, but my RBI rack distortion has "distortion", but it's very tube in nature and is more for tone shaping versus using it as an overdrive effect.
Programmable Sans Amp. Although I almost always just use the distortion on full on that thing. I yet have to get a good time with Darkglass... But perhaps this new cab thing is the answer... Although... I wish this had parallel out.
I'm using korg tuner, Carl Martian chorus, MXR flange, and a Eventide time factor pedal for my Bass pedals, in that order, where in the chain would I place this pedal, after the tuner?
This or Tech 21 Dug Pinnick? This has options, however it is voiced towards the extreme side. Tech 21 has a dream clean tone out of the box with distortion added to taste but misses graphic eq and implulses....what a headache!
If you dig the vintage voiced type of bass overdrive like me then the dp3x is the way to go. The voice of the Darkglass distortion is a modern type of flavor which is also great in its own way.
Hi, at the very beginning of the video none of the two switches is engaged, what happens in that mode? Do you only get the clean signal of the instrument not affected by neither the distortion nor the eq? Also, is the direct output "just" a balanced copy of the output signal or is it a DI which bypasses the pedal's circuit?
Hello, great vidéo thx ! Can you test(if you have) the new B7k ultra V2, please, because i hesitate between the two. Thx for your channel, big up from france
Am I right to assume that the Alpha is more B3K while the Omega is VMT? It sounds like you're getting the 2 drive circuits in 1 pedal, plus switchable distortion.
Joel Mondonedo There are two different drive circuits, however these two are built from the ground up. I’d say they both are more mid-present than the B3K, just different frequencies and gain structures.
I see, thanks for clarifying. I've been tearing my hair out trying to figure out which one I should get between B7KU or the Vintage Ultra. I thought the Alpha Omega Ultra was both.
I'd consider using DK stuff if it wasn't all so aggressively notched. Even with the EQ it only sounds like different shades of smooth. I want more in-your-faceness...
The 5-string is a SUB Ray5 with a Seymour Duncan Ceramic (tuned a whole step down), the green 4-string is a Music Man Stingray with an Aguilar pickup, and the sunburst is a stock Sterling Ray34.
Exactly. Wait a few years when people have moved on to the next thing. I'm all for supporting darkglass, but this is getting ridiculous. We're musicians, we don't have money!
You’re right man. The other guys don’t know what they’re hearing. In the beginning the character of the bass that we’re supposed to be listening for is completely overlapped by the mids and highs of the drums.
Such overrated pedals IMO - suck out all the lows and make it thin and clanky - every DG pedal same - great at what they DO, if thats the narrow tone window you want - always dig the videos guy - i like this format better than the newer ones as well. (feels more personal and less talking with more 'gear reviews').
I have one of these and this pedal is a beast!
Darkglass are just in a league of their own. There's overdrive and distortion pedals, then there's Darkglass!
Douglas Flores uhhhh sansamp
@@dknights6414 everything by sansamp sounds exactly the same
@@jacobmcconkey5674 same with darkglass, minus the duality and vintage
@@louie8604 so not the same then

one of the best pedal presentations I have seen...great video
Enjoyed the stingray content, that sub ray5 with the Duncan pickup was surprisingly killer!

Thank you! - Human is such a cool jam!
Sounded good even before you turned it on
That red Ltd f-104 I have the same one except it’s a newer model and it’s black

Now that's a proper review. Thanks guys!
Absolutely love my AOU.
I like the sound of the SUB more than the other stingrays wow.
I absolutely love my SUB Stingray5! ...It's got such a punchy monster tone, and the maple neck plays like butter. 👍

If Darkglass would integrate an onboard tuner in this thing and a headphones out, it would be beyond epic :)
tammanaq it has a headphone out
GK Plex will do that for you
@Incontinentia Buttocks I mean for the money🤔...
@@matejgrim a Darkglass combo would literally print money for them
Damn bro you predicted the future
Watched all the videos and still can’t decide. For you what’s the best: Alpha Omega vs Alpha Omega Ultra vs B7K vs Microtubes X. ?
Can you do one on the MXR M87 Bass Compressor
Always perfect tone comparisonm. Lov lovv
I'm using korg tuner, Carl Martian chorus, MXR flange, and a Eventide time factor pedal for my Bass pedals, in that order, where in the chain would I place this pedal, after the tuner?
"And omega just sounds brutal and raw" ....yeah NASTY

Now I can't unsee Will's tongue while playing at 1:34.
Its just there!
does the cab sim only work using the direct output?
I am impressed by this pedal, but I'm not sure if it would also serve as an overdrive
Hi, at the very beginning of the video none of the two switches is engaged, what happens in that mode? Do you only get the clean signal of the instrument not affected by neither the distortion nor the eq?

Absolute beast
So does the EQ affect the dry signal when it's blended in?
The blend knob is only related to the ratio of drive signal and your dry signal. The eq effect overall signal no matter it’s blended in or not.
I am confused, is this an EQ also?
Johnny Sal It can be used as an EQ if you don’t have the distortion circuit engaged.
Ahh thank you.
Hello, great vidéo thx !

Anyone know how to turn off MOD led in the pedal ? Or it only can be done in software?
Yeah, buddy!

Will both xlr and output connect to head , will it run parallel
This or the Vintage Microtubes Ultra?? Help!!
It really depends on the sound you need, but this gets our vote.
Bassic Gear Review Okay. Thanks for the reply! Love your videos! Peace
Can you do the Ampeg SVT-4 pro amp?
I'd consider using DK stuff if it wasn't all so aggressively notched. Even with the EQ it only sounds like different shades of smooth. I want more in-your-faceness...
I did not get what's the meaning of the led under the alpha/omega control (top left)
Looks like it's always on....what does it stand for ?
When you have the set up to switch between alpha or omega, it switched from red to blue.
Can you individually control the distortion from the EQ? Say I want just the distortion and no EQ can I do that? Every video I've seen has both on.
You can have EQ without distortion but you can’t have distortion without EQ.
@@TheBassChannel thanks for clearing that up! I'm alil bummed that I can't control both individually but I'm still going to get it
Setting all the EQ flat is pretty much like not having it on.
In what ways are the ultras better then the heads?
No power amp.
what was that bass? sterling or musicman?
The 5-string is a SUB Ray5 with a Seymour Duncan Ceramic (tuned a whole step down), the green 4-string is a Music Man Stingray with an Aguilar pickup, and the sunburst is a stock Sterling Ray34.
i was looking for green one nice thanks :D
PIGTRONIX RINGMASTER PLEASE!!!
All sounds come from mic?
The Omicron with a 10 band eq sounds much better
It's insane what that pedal sells for. Your'e better off putting that money towards a new amp head.
Exactly. Wait a few years when people have moved on to the next thing. I'm all for supporting darkglass, but this is getting ridiculous. We're musicians, we don't have money!
Is just me? The bass is lost in the mix. Drums are a tad too loud :(
Walter Ferrer I don’t hear that at all. You’re not listening on your phone speakers are you?
No it's not just you, most mosfet and diode clipping bass distortion pedals sound terrible. Real tube distortion pedals seem much sweeter for bass.
louderthangod Nope not on the phone. This is only from 0-35 secs. But could be just my device if you’re hearing it clear. 😅
Hearing it just fine :)
