One thing not pointed out in differences at the end of the video, is the 2 buttons on the Ultra. You can engage the pedal as a clean pre amp and hit the distortion several as needed. When the other ones have distortion off you bypass the whole pedal.
Cab sim for the win! Without it, I'd try and run these into a SansAmp for that tube amp/cab sim. Nice comparison! The Omicron held up nicely against the big brothers.
I could never get the ultra to sound just right, it was always either one or the other with the eq or distortion. Now I went to a guitar store and tried the alpha and omega and it sounded a lot better so now I’m debating between the omicron or alpha and omega leaning more towards the alpha omega. Darkglass keeps leaving my board but I keep coming back and trying their products.
I use a Alpha Omicron into a Vintage Ultra and B7K Ultra. It makes a noticeable difference . Next I'm thinking do I get a Alpha Omega or the Ultra. Darkglass is amazing but addictive. Omicron is awesome.
Just the video I needed to decide between these pedals. Seems weird I haven't been able to find one yet. IMO Get the omicron if you don't record and play in a band that performs at crappy venues with no way of going direct to front of house, or if you just prefer other cab sims and worry about eq after the fact. Get the alpha omega original for the same reason if you just really want to spend an extra $100 for 3 eq knobs. Get the ultra if you have a way to plug in to front of house at your gigs, like getting your tone from the source when you record with minimal eq'ing afterward, or just play bass and that's all and you want to practice silent without a terrible low wattage bass amp.
There seems to be a parallel output missing from the Ultra. That would actually make me choose the regular alpha omega as I often send a copy of the clean signal to a DI box live.
Thank you for the demo. It helps a lot. Now I’ll know I’ll be saving money when buying the Ultra. 😁🎸 Or at least I know won’t be wasting it for whichever I do buy.
I use both a Sansamp PBDI and Alpha Omega Ultra. Using the AOU as my main tone pedal with the Sansamp as a DI with 3 presets that I only use when necessary (eg for slap). The AOU is my favourite by far, as the range of tone you can create, using it's eq, is amazing, from mellow jazz all the way to raw distorted metal (I've even managed to recreate the fuzz of Muse's Hysteria using the AOU). The cab sim is also a big bonus and fun to play with! If you've got the money, buy the AOU - you won't be disappointed.
this seems like an honest review, finally a video where you can actually check how they really sound without all that post processing stuff. Some kind of preamp plus one overdrive pedal would do as good if not better than these pedals in my opinion. Thanks guys.
I like the microtubes series way better than the alpha omegas I feel the alpha omegas don’t retain tone and sound of the bass with the distortions compared to the X7 and b7k

Good catch, this a definitely an advantage from others for my needs
Great video! I'd love to see a similar video comparing the features and your thoughts on the B7K, Alpha Omega, and X7 Distortion.
Warning: using darkglass with Warwick Dolphin will instantly produce seismic waves in the world.
Only if you connect that to a SVT CL and 2x8x10.
Rockers wanna be use amp sim.
I like the amount of control the ultra preamp has with the distortion rather than the alpha and omega's distortion. it's too messt

You run preamps into preamps?

Excellent review video. Just what I was looking for. Thanks.
Great breakdown of the gear. I now feel fully informed and ready to drop some cash. Thank you
Which pedal did you end up going with?
Any update on the pedal you went with?

Ultra ftw. Unless you have a AO900 this pedal is pretty much everything you need..... Except a compressor lol
Ok I need you to answer super important. Could any of this Darkglass kill a white walker????
That....is...called dragon glass.....
you need the alpha-omega 900 for this
What’s better getting the pedals and running them into whatever amp or getting the dark glass amp that has it built in?
hey trey
how about micro x/x7/x ultra or micro vintage/vintage deluxe/vintage ultra or micro b3k/b7k/b7k ultra comparison ?
I was thinking about comparing the X series next, not sure if I’ll have the time but I’d like to

That's what I call a great review video! Thanks! My Alpha Omega Ultra is on its way home :)

thank you for sharing the video, feeling grateful.
Can you make video comparing the Alpha Omega Ultra versus X7?? Thank you!
Your video was a great help, thank you.
Alpha Omicron sounds killer for a budget pedal effect! Im gona buy it! Jesus!
Teodor Tsonev - budget? it’s still pretty expensive
Hardly consider it a budget pedal. Still very much a premium unit just as AS premium as the Omega and Ultra models.
Alpha Omega Ultra for me.
The difference in the click of a button... and Dingwall and Darkglass go together as good as peanut butter and jelly
I decided since I'll directly using a bass amp the Alpha Omicron will suit my needs it's a Vintage Tube Amp so it has no distortion
The ultra makes a great preamp also! I have the X ultra and love it!! I don’t run without it🤘

Omicron should work in the effects loop of my bass rig.
Black friday is close and I cant decide between one of these or the SamsAmp RBI. Any thoughts?

Uhhh no.... Thanks
Thank you for this video ot helps
Do you think it's worth getting one of these or sticking with plugins? I'm a guitarist by the way...
The plugins are for the B7k ultra and the Vintage Deluxe so different tones there. Depends on what sound you're going for.
Vintage Ultra*
GREAT VID
So whats the diff between alpa omega and the omicron
Alpha omega has the 3 band EQ bass, mid, treble, and a DI output
AOm + 6 band eq = the sh*t
How would you set the pedal? Been debating on getting a 6 or 10 band for both bass and guitar.
@@AaronMorgan666 the 10 band us even better, more adjustability but be aware that needs 18v
So omicron wouldnt be good for runnin to a cac
