Can You Finish Dying Light Before Starting The Story? (0% Main Game Save & 0% The Following)

So this idea came to me after seeing several comments on my previous video joking that my next one one would be called How To Beat Dying Light Before Starting The Game! This made me laugh but also made me think of a strange Easter egg in The Following DLC where you can trigger an alternate ending by finding some items hidden around the map. Of course this isn't really beating Dying Light. But it did make me wonder if it was possible to make it happen not just on 0% story in The Following, but also using a new 0% Dying Light story campaign save too! And this would effectively be finishing the whole game before starting the story. Well I'd never tried this before and it sounded like a fun challenge so I had to give it a go!

Small detail about this ending: the reason Kyle turns around and looks at the entrance of the trailer is that the devs reused the animation from the ending where Kyle agrees to trigger the bomb with The Mother, and turns around to look at her, as she thanks him right before it goes off.
@Argonaut _V well with 0% story he waited a year in the tower being a deadbeat while ignoring calls from his job and decided to say f it I’m leaving because he remembered they were going to nuke the city. Finds the nuke and armed it because he hates seeing things being half assed.
Interesting.... I just assumed he heard a zombie nearby stumbling into the trailer and looked on knowing he had the last laugh

Imagine this from the perspective of the tower
Some guy drops in and you recruit him as a runner.
He goes on his first mission and doesn't die.
Then some other guy stumbles into the sewers talking about a cure or something, and you send the new runner to go investigate.
A few days later you see a mushroom cloud over the horizon.
"JADE i found the cure all you have to do is turn really and i mean REALLY american for a bit" (sees the cloud)

the only sad thing about the alternate ending is that you look back and saw that no one is with you in your last moments.
Its because they reused the animation with the nuke ending where he looks at the mother

I remember setting this off by accident when the DLC came out. Just randomly found the codes and cards. Came across the trailer and thought it was a little side quest option and set it off. I left it alone after that. 😂
Funny to think how in the original story crane tried to stop the bombings only to have the option to bomb the whole place himself in the following
"No dude, if someone has to blow this up, it's me."
Some Dude: *Drops into the countryside, travels to the nearest village and doesn't speak much, then proceeds to gather nuclear activation codes to destroy harran*
Villagers: "Wait you can't do that."
I know that this is an older video, but I felt that a comment that you made in the footage makes this a good place to say this.
The slide you can do when you're running can actually allow you to run indefinitely without ever getting tired. The nearest I can figure, is that the slide does not count as running, and as such allows you to recover a bit of "stamina" with every slide. So, periodically sliding while running basically gives you infinite stamina to run as long as you like.

A while ago i found a bug to beat the game ACTUALLY without doing anything but the prologue, but you need the grappling hook. i used it to unlock the hard/nightmare skins without doing anything, worked 100% might be patched now though.

I have something like 500 hours in Dying Light and never knew there was an alternate ending...
I haven't even finished the video but I wonder how the ai feel knowing some random guy who just got to haran only went to say they were going to help to drop a nuke in 5 minutes

When I first got the game I started playing the following THE MOMENT I finished the first mission that takes place at night and honestly I prefer having my low level experience in the country side and my high level experience in Harran. Having the grappling hook and guns at the very beginning of the campaign is like hella stupid though XD
Tip for only dying light 1’s mechanic: swimming. Holding the swim down button is faster than regular swimming.

One thing you could've done would be to do the stuffed turtle quest for survivor rank and then start up the following without progressing the story if you really wanted the higher levels
I covered that in another video, this one was just to see how early in the game it could be done 👍🏻
I think the alternate way kills more zombies but you can set off both nukes to make sure

wish crane didnt die in the 2 endings three if you consider both nuclear warheads a diff ending but i would be cool to see or hear easter eggs about crane in dl2 i heard a theory where in one of the 2 endings crane become the night hunter zombie the one the player plays as in dying light be the zombie
I gotta ask, and I'll admit it's a little unbelievable, but has any one completed dying light on nightmare mode BEFORE you get to level 12 in survivor rank. I did, using my main weapon of Your First, (basically op version of that pipe you kill the first zombie with) In doing so, I ended up with getting survivor rank 12 and the grappling hook at least HALFWAY through the Following DLC. I challenge someone to do this, so I'm not alone in my MADNESS!!!

I did it by doing coop with my brother, i beat the game 10 times on each way on ps4 then got it on desktop with my brother so we can beat again
