The Mini burner in 11.5 with S flex only loses 5yards on my driver…. However, after 2 months i have yet to miss a fairway and hcp dropped from 3.6 to 1.9. Amazing club.
I bought two of these mini’s, I play the 11.5 at 10.5 with a stiff shaft; I play the 13.5 at 14.5 with a regular shaft. I hit a fade with the 11.5; I hit a draw with the 13.5. No driver and 3 wood in my bag anymore. These are so easy to hit! I love hitting the 13.5 off the ground, so easy!
Is the 11.5 difficult to hit off the ground?
@@James-th8tu If you have the heavy weight in the back, it’s surprisingly easy to hit off the turf. The only time I use the 11.5 off the turf is if I have to hit a big fade; other wise, I use the 13.5 off the turf. I’ve played just about every mini-driver ever and this is by far the best. I just don’t like the big headed drivers-I also play hickory golf and just enjoy smaller heads.
🤥
Lew's opinion is always welcomed and valued. Happy to see he's willing to do these.
Thats a nice looking club. I love the way it sits. It should be an option for a lot of amateur golfers.
I have been playing a Mizuno STG from the factory at 44 inches and set to 11 degree which closed the clubface from standard enough to help fight my late square up fades. I have been hitting center of the face more often and getting a more penetrating flight. I have not noticed any loss of distance from my full length Rogue ST.
I bought a 300 mini 11.5 play it at 10.75 with a stiff diamana black shaft and it goes in the bag when the big boy goes off! I use a white castle tee and the flight and accuracy are exactly what I want off the tee when I am having a rocky time!
Hi Andy, a little tip from a broadcast sound mixer: pan both the mics to the centre when you’re editing / mixing, the left / right panning just sounds weird. Love the videos, top class. 👍🏼
Ok mate thanks for advice
Yes!
Great video, thank you. Just bought the 13.5 degree and think it's excellent. I was also surprised by how low the ball flight was. I expected it to be much higher.
I'm obsessed with my brnr. I got it on 9 degrees it rolls out forever and easy to hit. Still got my ltdx in the bag for holes I can swing out of my shoes and not worry about losing it
Bought one, partly thank to you. Have been eying this club for almost 2 years. Bought the 11.5 and am hitting it as pure as any club in my bag. Love it
I have the 13.5 model to replace my 3 wood and what a club easy to launch off the fairway and even better off the tee
i ended up getting the new 2024 copper version and i LOVE it went with the 13.5 degree and the MCC +4 midsize grip I am 59 years old and a 8 handicap off the fairway is awesome and off the tee glad i went with it to go inbetween my 9 degree driver and my 17 degree Hywood then my Qi10 Max 7 wood 22 degrees Knock on wood off the deck i have been blasting it it works great for me cheers from Canada
I'm still gaming my 12 degree SLDR Mini Driver. It's a fairway finder on those tight tee shots. I've had it 9 years now (looks it too) but the only way it's coming out of the bag is 'its stolen or something a lot better comes along. I'm really tempted to get fitted for the BNNR.
Teeing the ball low and swinging more like a FW wood is key with mini driver, in my experience. Feels so much more powerful and under control than trying to hit up on it like a driver. The CG is such that an upward AoA produces weak strikes.
Funny you say that, I was really struggling with this club when I got it (high handicapper). The balls had no speed or height, no control and felt awful coming out. I started leaning back a bit and hitting up on it like a driver (still teed pretty low) and got much much better results, about 10-20 yards less than my driver but better dispersion. I saw so many people online saying to hit it like a 3-wood so I just kept stubbornly hitting it like that, but when I commit to hitting up on it I get much better results. Haven't hit it off the deck yet though
Not for me. I tee it up fairly low and swing with about an 2-3 upward AoA. It's been working great.
Great video, thanks!
I bought a used Original One mini-driver in mint condition used recently and it's been terrific as an accurate off the tee option that goes around 250 for me, vs. my driver that averages in the 270's. The mini-driver is definitely easier for me to hit consistently.
I’ve just picked up a 11.5 from eBay and used it for 9 holes as a tee club. It’s incredible .
the adjustable weight screws are same as Stealth Driver side adjustment weight?
Never tire of watching the languid power and control of Lewis's swing.
languid? haha..trying to showoff your English. This isn't school
Well read folk appreciate the efficient use of words to convey a meaning. Languid was a perfect fit. 👏
Top golfer
Nope… Never tire of watching Lew. Do tire of all that background traffic noise at Holywell GC though!
@@markpaterson6024 well read folk? Did you think it through with those words.a well is a hole with water
Has anyone done detailed readings to see what it’s club head speed is against current sized drivers?
I’ve used a 16 degree SLDR mini for years. It’s good for fairways and some tees. This at 11 would take care of the driver, which gets less reliable as I age into my late seventies.
Looks a great club and Lewis swinging it well and obviously you too Andy 😉😉😂👏👏
He’s not too shabby 🤣
44" Aldila NV "R" flext shaft with a 14 degree Aerotech ASMD-01 driver head which is a 260cc head, and I lose about 10y off my 45" driver. The sole lets me also use it as a 3w. Off the tee I play it like a 3w, to let the loft get it up in the air instead of teeing it high. 15 rounds in a row without missing a fairway and I don't throw my back out every time I pull it out of the bag. Best $30 I have ever spent and I can carry it instead of a driver and 3W.
I remember Taylormade bringing out a mini driver around 1991ish same time as the bubble driver
Your making me want one. Could take the driver and 3 wood out of the bag and add this and a 7 wood. I think this is about to get expensive🤣
With the 2024 version dropping today, that’s exactly what I’m doing. I had just bought a new 3 wood this week, never even unwrapped it yet. Heard the news of the 2024 release 2 hours ago. Went straight to the store, returned the 3 wood and bought the new BRNR in 13.5. Chose that cause I can drop it to 11.5 if I want. Personally don’t feel the need to go any lower than that
ANDY! You should do the differing handicap test with the mini, the one that you did several years ago. I thought that was brilliant because it showed it was not for a low/scratch golfer, but for the mid+ handicappers it was an eye opener.
And to me it's about the dispersion, not the yardage, plus distance consistency. In my testing it was often going further than my normal driver, but consistent distance and dispersion.
I thought the swing weight was a big factor for me as I had a more controlled tempo, unlike the lighter driver.
I loved that format Brent but it was so difficult to pull it all together
@@TheAverageGolfer - you could hit up a driving range and ask random players, but that may get a little awkward. It was by far one of the more "scientific" methodologies as you had a baseline testing then added in the variable.
I've watched all of the other reviews and they are all better players, thus would have better numbers with their driver so doesn't really give a good 1:1 match. I know James R. has also been raving about this driver too and has been giving honest opinions.
Keep up the great work!
Fun challenge suggestion: Compare the mini-burner with a lady's 12.5 driver configured for a 5'4" lady. The shaft length and loft of the two clubs could be quite similar and produce similar results.
Great video
People comment that you should compare heads on the same shaft? OK... Guilty as charged. Nice video. I agree that if you really want the best performance from a club, you need to be fit for both the head and shaft at the same time, as they do work together. This is a really interesting option, and I'm tempted to give it a hit, but keep feeling that maybe I'd be better off spending that money on lessons to hit driver better.
Is ball position same as driver or 3 wood?
It's basically just a large headed 2 wood in the 13.5 model. Probably good for the person struggling with driver.
This is versatile but is the paradyme triples diamonds is versatile????????
Andy, love to see you with Lew actually changing the weight and loft around in a launch monitor fitting session for you.
Was this course next to the highway???
Love the fact Andy so comfortable hitting with a pro - Andy swing is good, Lewis . . . . .
Pro and friend which makes it easier 👍
Cannot find this in my area
Would have loved to see how it compared to his normal driver :)
What course is this?
Like to see Lew turn that Mini down to 12.5 and move the heavy weight to the front.
Wats the best color castle tee for this?
I play an older TM mini driver and i find the yellow castles are perfect for it.
Use the white set height tee so half a ball is above the crown
Considering this club, current M2 ~ I have issues finishing (leaving open) but no problems on other clubs including my 3 wood. Perhaps this might solve the problem, Had a smaller 430 head years ago that worked great but it was long retired, maybe my problem is psychological?
I'd like to see you loft it up to 14.5 or 15 👍👍👍
We should have tried that Pete
I love the video but its a shame you didn't compare this to his driver AND 3 wood. This 13.5 or 14.5 is supposed to replace a 3 wood no? I would love to see this guy hit the 11.5 version his swing looks so pure
Lads ...question for you....why do you think other manufacturers don't make something like this ?? I think Callaway did at some point but the rest of the big brands don't ....any thoughts cheers chaps
That’s a great question, no idea as to the answer, maybe it is too niche and not enough demand? I certainly think a lot of golfers would benefit from the club
If there was an inch and a half of difference between the two shafts you're talking about 9 swingweight points give or take...on a D4 club to begin with. Serious backweighting is needed to tame that beast with a "normal" driver shaft length.
I think that was the point, many think it is a simple ‘put this shaft in this and put that shaft in the other’
AG are you going to do a video on BRNR 11.5?
I don’t have it sorry Ray
I have an 8 degree driver a 16 degree 5w and have this bad boat at 12
This new mini-driver from TM raises so many questions, it's doing damage to my few remaining brain cells.
The first thing that occurs to me is that manufacturers have over the years been increasing the size of their driver heads and increasing the length of their driver shafts, in an attempt to give us more distance. Yet here we are "Returning to the Past" with a smaller head and a shorter shaft?????? Could it be that they have been shooting us a marketing gimmick all along??????
The best driver I ever had was a very early Big Bertha 3Wood whose head size and shaft length was almost identical to BRNR so I am tempted to give the new offering a try. But I also have to be aware that I'm now North of 70 and I know that I need all the distance I can muster and I probably haven't got the speed to optimise the new BRNR🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
So many questions…..it’s time we went back to smaller heads and shorter shaft IMO, maybe something in the middle 400cc head, 44.25 shaft…..some more to think about 🤣
@@TheAverageGolfer Sounds like a plan Andy, I know from my own testing/fittings that 45" is the absolute limit in shaft length in a driver anything longer and I can't find the middle of the clubface and just start hitting banana balls.
PS It was Great to see you two out on the course together👍👍
In mid late 90’s picked up a BB Strong 3. Carried that club into the 2000’s and was always a consistent performer. Reminds me alot of that club.
@@GallatinMan We are possibly talking about the same club, though I thought that mine was from the early 90s. Either way, it was a great club off the tee, long and you could move it either way or hit a straight ball.👍👍
Yea I can't hit a 3 wood off the deck...so trying to hit this mini driver off the deck would not happen for me. :)
Is it not just a fairway wood from the 80’s before low profile fairways hit the scene?
80-90s but sure looks like it.
Well done lads....it's bloody 429 of your English pounds 😱😱😱... Would you have that and driver or just that lads what you reckon....lou lovely draw swing 👍👍👍
Where are you looking mate? It's 379 in AG
@@peterborrowman2041 ah nice one must have seen the RRP for it
Price is stupid high
Should have had Lou hit it in the 11.5* for a comparison.
We don’t have the 11.5 👍
@@TheAverageGolfer it's the driver adjustable, couldn't you have adjusted it down 2 degrees?
Sounds like you were recording at a jet engine testing site...
Tried to watch this but couldn’t because of the constant traffic noise
Just get a twelve degree drive ffs!
Why? They are more expensive and the only option is a 460cc head and majority with 45.75 shaft
The best answer is, play what works for you
They are sold out
Not from what I can see? Hotgolf have them
Thank you guys. It’s a pleasure to listen and get your point. Pity it was so noisy in the back. I’m getting excited to buy this club. 🫣
