What do you mean they were forced to? Chevy still makes the C8, Ford still makes the mustang, Lamborghini and Ferrari still make v12, Lexus still makes V8s, almost every pickup has a V8 option. I'm not understanding why Dodge is "forced" but other brands still are able to do it?
They were paying hundreds of millions in fines for not meeting the CAFE standards. Not a sustainable business model. Since they haven’t successfully made other cars with good fuel economy, they had to attempt to keep their company alive
@@TheStraightPipes yet the supposed fines will be gone, yet you are expected to pay MORE for a worse product. That's not a sustainable business model either last I checked.

I also don't get why they literally added a speaker for noise. Just embrace the fact that it's an EV instead of trying to be something it's not. 🤷🏼♂️
Because at this point dodge is all about gimmicks than actual performance . Speakers , push to pass , massive infotainment screens , led lighting all gimmicks
Dodge should sell the new Hellcats without an engine, sell the engine separately and have a third party mechanic put it together for the buyer, that's how you get around regulation.
One of the few things that doesn't bother me about this car is the lack of the V8. It's all the dumb shit that is fake. The old challenger was real and this one is full of fake BS.
Honestly I think it looks fantastic. These would probably sell quite well in Europe where people might want the muscle car look but fuel is super expensive. I have a 2018 Mustang GT in the UK and we pay the equivalent of $8 a gallon, so a Mustang is definitely not the kind of car you can drive every day without costing a fortune to run.
This channel is pure horsepower.. Every video if it doesn’t do burnouts or launch at some surprising effect it doesn’t get the juices flowing in the two. Yet surprisingly the daily driving habits of probably 95% of us Cdn drivers is grid lock ,Some somewhat Gas economy unless total luxury wanted and comfort behind the wheel.
Correct. Fuel economy isn’t exciting. We still review everything but we’re not going to be excited if it’s not fun. Which is fine, because every car doesn’t need to be exciting
In all honesty, i think the car looks good, and it does what it says on the box (which in 2024 isn't a given...) But $60k base is a tough sell. Hoping they actually sell, and that the Six doesnt suck.
To be honest, they were forced to go all-electric, and all of their vehicles will go fully electric in a decade. Yeah, it sucks, but blame the government, as well as Dodge’s parent company, Stellantis.
Im not against EVs but honestly they should just adopt the 80s aesthetic like the Hyundai N Vision 74 and other Hyundai EVs… it really works with the character of electric motors. I would buy an N Vision 74 in a heartbeat and Im not into EVs.
I have watched so many car reviews. The fake exhaust is the dumbest thing ever put on a car by such an enormous margin it’s remarkable. Nobody is going to buy this
Ferrari are not mass produced, and cost half a million dollars to purchase so they can afford to pay the fines for emissions... You will also notice they are doing alot of hybrids lately
Blame Gaven Nusum, He is banning the sale of Gas cars in CA starting in a few years which inevitable will be copied by 7 other Democratic states. No manufacturer is going to invest in a new V8 or Gas at all if they can't sell them in CA.
Id definitely buy this, but i would buy the Hurricane powered one. Not that i hate electric, i just dont believe its feasible yet. Especially if you're not a homeowner. Hurricane has plenty of power for a normal person. 550hp is enough for me.
Well as someone from a country who doesn't get plenty of v8s. I think they have done a great job by adhering to the regulations and giving it a sound that sounds better than all that silent evs
60k for a base base model is crazyyyyyy, thats not including whatever delivery fees & markups, by then the base rt will be easily over70k maybe 80k with an optioned out rt, which probably oushes the scatpack close to if not over 6 figures. no one buyin this pos except tech bros & influencers💀 they completely killed their usual buyerbase

1:41 lol it even sounds like it has a soft limiter when revving at a stand still 😂
2:33 i’m literally sitting on the toilet as I watch (and type) this 😂
Hellcat ppl before 2025: “oh yeah I’ll pay $2500 a month for that even though I work at a call center😍”
The sound clip from the outside honestly killed my spirits. Jesus. I couldn’t imagine watching automotive RUclips channels like yours and others who review cars and this being the content I have to watch. The video was great of course. It’s just the car is sad and lackluster. Stellantis can suck it
Appreciate you watching
@@TheStraightPipesthis car was created because of Carlos Tavares. Carlos was relieved from command and Mopar Jesus is back. These cars will get V8s in the future.
@@TheStraightPipesand that’s stellantis fault for not having a well rounded vehicle portfolio. When you make 18 billion in net profit a year for the past 5 years you can’t say you don’t have the money to invest in product. This company was more interested in buying back stock and shareholder dividends than say engineering a new modern V8. So in the end stop blaming the gov as other companies had no problem investing in their futures
2:29 wild stuff I’m actually on the toilet right now 😂
💩
Me too!!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂
Same 😂
Same 😂
No cap😂
I want one of these speakers and 800-watt amplifier for my lawn tractor! The guy next door would probably be jealous!
Astetically: i like. Sound: kinda weird, kinda cool, also gimmicky. Good they have ICE options
Remember that more than half of us can't even afford these vehicles 🤷🏿♂️
Probably closer to 85% can't afford this car
I can tell you your payment would be well over 1,000 a month!!!
Credit score 🫣
Give it time. I bet this loses 60% value in 18 months
Nah, there are other brands that make a real v8 car. Like ford
Can’t wait to see when you get BCM codes for an exhaust speaker that failed
These two smiled way more when they were in the type r with half the power. Shows how EVs kill our souls with their lack of character and driver engagement
I was literally on the toilet watching
This is like using a taxidermied horse head as a hood ornament.
Don't pretend to be something you're not just to make people comfortable. It just puts this car in an uncanny valley that I really don't like.
Taking the revving feedback to the engineers before the video ended is wild
Right after we drove it they started taking our feedback and running it by the team. That’s great to hear on our end!
@@TheStraightPipes The only feedback they should follow is scrap the entire thing.
Great. Now you can go back to the and tell them to get rid of it entirely. You’re the only ones pretending it sounds good. No one else is kissing their ass. Other car review channels manage to review cars independently.
We all hated how the new m3 looks and we all hated how heavy the new m5 is ,but no one had doubt they would sell , but the 4cyl c63 AND THIS SHIT , we all know they will never sell 😂
Love how all the reviewers are holding back on there actual thoughts lmao for the promo
Nothing was held back if you watched the video until the end
@@TheStraightPipes"it's a strange proposition. And I don't know" " i like it good attempt couple things to work on" it's trash, your paying for the speaker* when you can just buy the real thing. It's evident amongst all the reviews posted.
I guess we just have a more realistic outlook on the current state of the car industry
@TheStraightPipes I guess will both see when/if it even sells 😬
@@TheStraightPipes Current state of the automotive industry is in shambles. Lets be real here.
The sound reminds me of back when I played the first Forza Motorsport. Looks like we’re home, gentleman
Thanks for another GREAT review!!
I have never been disappointed by a review more than I have been today. I love this channel but hate this car.
That interior in a hellcat would be mint
Looks good, but they ripped out its soul
As a Tesla owner who also loves Dodge ( had a Charger ), I absolutely love the design of this one! But I don't think they should have discontinued the v8 fully. At least give people options.
I also don't get why they literally added a speaker for noise. Just embrace the fact that it's an EV instead of trying to be something it's not. 🤷🏼♂️
Exactly. And that speaker, I don't care what 'glorified' name they're calling it, it's a speaker, just makes it worse.
Because at this point dodge is all about gimmicks than actual performance . Speakers , push to pass , massive infotainment screens , led lighting all gimmicks
This is total BS. We should not support those speakers. Future is Electeic, fine, be like one, be normal.
Just an electric car.
If someone pulled up next to me and started revving their electric charger I would immediately start laughing at them
Bro it’s actually crazy that dodge thought this would be cool, this feels soulless im trippin that dodge did this
Stellantis man
Front looks like a new version of a Mitsubishi Galant
Even the new logo in the back looks like a Mitsubishi logo
In fairness that’s not the worst thing.
Rear looks like a new Nissan Z😮
Imagine it slammed with some nice set of rims
Dodge should sell the new Hellcats without an engine, sell the engine separately and have a third party mechanic put it together for the buyer, that's how you get around regulation.
BRING BACK THE HEMI!!!
My Redeye Challenger Widebody went 10.50 stock on a Drag Radial. This thing is a disapointment on so many levels!
I used to stick an old baseball card between the spokes on the rear wheel of bicycle to make it sound "cool".. that sounds better than this Dodge does
The automotive equivalent of stuffing a gym sock in your pants to fake the size.
Sounds like my kids remote control cars😂
I got two notifications, one from throttle house and one from you guys and both were posted at the same time and on the charger 😂
As Mighty Car Mods would say... "IN THE BIN!"
I absolutely love the design of this car, but I am going to wait for the ICE model.
This is terrible, imagine spending that much on a car acting like a real thing. Like what kind of marketing is that. Please stop
In all honesty, i think the car looks good, and it does what it says on the box (which in 2024 isn't a given...) But $60k base is a tough sell. Hoping they actually sell, and that the Six doesnt suck.
They gave both the channels different press cars this time, glad to see Canadian content creators moving up 🫡
I like how my bone stock BMW m550i from 2018 with 450 horsepower ran 11.5. this is Dodge doing what they do best. Big horsepower numbers slow cars
ur stock 550i ran an 11.5 jfc
2018 BMW M550i will run 11.5s in the 1/4 mile only down hill or tuned.
Yeah but big horsepower numbers and slow cars is 100% fine if the car has soul. i.e. a big v8 engine. this doesnt even have that
@@jeffreydavidmarks it didn't hes making it up.
@@salninethousand2496 ran 11.58 have the slip in hand. No downhill no tune. AWD helps.
I love the focus on the future and performance.
1:36 This was the most pathetic display I’ve ever seen and Dodge should be cancelled over this.
To be honest, they were forced to go all-electric, and all of their vehicles will go fully electric in a decade.
Yeah, it sucks, but blame the government, as well as Dodge’s parent company, Stellantis.
It sounds like a poorly made toy.
@teenagecarlover1567 yeah that isn't going to happen within 20 years much less 10.
Gran Turismo called, it needs it's sound effects back.
Beamng drive sounding ass car 😂😂
0:08 wtf is that exhaust.wav sound😅
If this had a V8 it would actually sell
Still costs more than a hellcat, I doubt it
@@Ank3rman that’s fair.. the MSRP is insane!
All the fake sounds and lack of a hemi engine aside; at least they killed on the styling! Can’t wait to see the wide body version!
Nobody is going to buy this
They all say it’s because of regulations , how come Ferrari is still producing v12s
Gas > Electric
Why? Do you like paying out the nose for gasoline that's stupidly inefficient?
Hybrid > Gas > Electric
@@coastaku1954SPLOSIONS
@@728GT All I'm seeing is emissions, excess noise, worse performance, higher running costs, and more maintenance
@ yes. Excess noise 🤌🏽
Aside from the fake sound and the straps for the hood release and seats, I would definitely own this.
Id definitely buy this, but i would buy the Hurricane powered one. Not that i hate electric, i just dont believe its feasible yet. Especially if you're not a homeowner.
Hurricane has plenty of power for a normal person. 550hp is enough for me.
they should have given it a new name, start a new line up. Calling this a charger is so disrespectful and an insult to the legacy
Yea just like Ford using the Mustang name on a Crossover, and Chevrolet using the Silverado name on what should have been called the AValanche
I’ve seen the test mule driving around and my opinion is unchanged with this. I prefer the previous gen interior, exterior, and powertrains
You mean a 15 year old design that gulped gas?
@ the proportions of this vehicular appliance suck in person. Also, yes, I’d gladly take the v8 over an EV
@@coastaku1954 yup. I’d take it anyday.
Agreed but the interior is far better than the previous generation.
@ the interior build quality is better, but I hate screens
Holy shit this will sell horribly and depreciate hard
Well as someone from a country who doesn't get plenty of v8s. I think they have done a great job by adhering to the regulations and giving it a sound that sounds better than all that silent evs
60k for a base base model is crazyyyyyy, thats not including whatever delivery fees & markups, by then the base rt will be easily over70k maybe 80k with an optioned out rt, which probably oushes the scatpack close to if not over 6 figures. no one buyin this pos except tech bros & influencers💀 they completely killed their usual buyerbase
