    What a masterpiece! One of the best productions in the railroad genre. I love railroads. My great-great grandfather stole one from the Rebels in 1862. Big Shanty, Georgia. Our family moved on to better living. Grew up across the street from the Big 4 Junction in Berea, Ohio in the 60’s. 5 trains an hour, 24 hours/day! This is so clean. Sunny, cloudless, incredible track maintenance, beautifully maintained power, and steady, professional railroading. Your drone shots are epic, with no drone racing or flipping around. You use it as a platform for the camera. Very well done. Thank you for a 10/10! The best. Music, no narration.✅🟢🦚 I can’t believe the guys that recite the cab #’s and type. Who cares? I’m here for the visual. This is soothing, professional work.

    Well you’ve done again! This one sets the gold standard for Tehachapi videos. The loop never disappoints but I thought your coverage of the Caliente horseshoe curve was very special. Your efforts to shoot both winter/spring green, as well as summer brown, were highlighted by your choice of low sun angles and long shadows-sign of a real pro. Beautiful either way. You were blessed to have enough material to minimize the haze except for Mojave. Your complete coverage also included the agriculture fields and orchards east of BFL. They have great beauty of their own. Thanks for your outstanding efforts!

  • @rssii

    Another Home Run from Acme! You are definitely batting 1000 with these videos. More top notch drone work, but I have to say your ground-level runbys are taking my breath away! That dusk approach shot of BNSF 6939 passing the Martin-Marietta Cement Plant outlined by the windfarm on the hills in the distance at 47:30 was just stunning! I can smell the desert highlands and the diesel fumes even as I write this. And the going-away silohette immediately following was breath-taking. LOVE IT! And that UP passing shot at 50:30 - wow wow wow!! I hope someday you can make a video documentary of this quality of a current-day steam program - that would be something to see. (A 4014/844 excursion maybe? Or ATSF 2926 - it just did a captive test run on a siding in Albuquerque on 6 May; maybe it will be out on the main sometime soon. Hint, hint…🙂) Regardless, I cannot wait for the next video, whatever that might be. Keep up the great work - you definitely are the top of railroading videos on the internet!

    • @AcmeCinematography
      @AcmeCinematography  Год назад +2

      Thanks!!!!!! I’d love to do some big steam but main issue is courtesy and safety. We are very careful not to run drones where there are other railfans around. 1. Drones are very noisey and we don’t want to upset others who are making an effort to be trackside as well. 2. Too many railfans make shooting locations too “fake” looking. So we tend to skip steam entirely. We know we would get a gazillion more hits and views but the product would just not be something we would want. Maybe we can do a secret steam charter someday! ;)

    • @rssii
      @rssii Год назад

      @@AcmeCinematography Totally get that and I agree with you - I hadn't thought about the presence of railfans and agree it would detract from their experience and would greatly impact the drama of your videos. In fact, your respect for the railroad and the hard working crews of these trains (for example staying a respectful distance from the lead unit in a consist with your drones so the crew isn't spooked or stressed) shows in every one of your releases and is one of the reasons I love your stuff so much. Gonna still wish for a secret steam charter though!

    • @AcmeCinematography
      @AcmeCinematography  Год назад

      well you saw the Western Maryland so it is possible but they typically don't have that many people chasing.. the Big Boy can have a caravan of 20 or more cars chasing her around and the shots would be just rather unphotographable from our perspective.. we really like isolation and not being around other photographers mainly from a safety issue...and as noted courtesy. I'd just not be happy setting up for a great shot and as the engine approaches a drone flys overhead noisily... gotta respect every person so we just tend to stay where we won't be bothering others!

    Fantastic work - your videos are just sensational.
    Also reminds me why I love Tehachapi so much. Sadly, I haven't been since 2009. It was great to see some favourite spots from new angles.
    That whole sequence around Caliente - what a magnificent bit of railroad engineering that climb up to Bealville is. I know folk tend to rave about the loop, but for me the Caliente - Cliff part is the best part of the railroad, perhaps because he fact that its the most remote from CA58 helps.
    I can't quite get over how spoiled Tunnel 10 area is now though I understand it makes the railroad more efficient .

    one of your best efforts to date.
    I was under the impression that since the Southern Pacific built this line which UP acquired when it purchased the combined SP & Denver Rio Grande RR, that the line is UP’s, but BNSF has trackage rights over it as part of the merger agreement that the federal regulators imposed as a condition of allowing the SP & UP merger?

      The AT&SF and SP crafted an agreement over 100 years ago. Santa Fe obtained operating rights using their crews while SP retained all ownership.
      In the early 1980's there was a track on the east (SP north) side of the Mojave Depot referred to as the A and P (Atlantic and Pacific) main.
      The UP acquisition of the SP -D&RGW was without noticeable effect, save the disappearance of power painted red and gray.
      John Signor's book on Tehachapi is an exhaustive authority on the railroad.
