    Hmm, I needed this yesterday morning. I replaced the chain in my np231, leaving the case in the truck (truck on the ground too), what a god awful mess. I got it back together by the skin of my teeth. My whole body aches. Of course I didn't replace the fork pads which was a mistake.

      I completely agree! For shooting on a phone (I'm a video production guy), this is by FAR one of the best simply-shot instructional vids I've seen. However, as a wrencher in my day, we always farmed out trans and t-case stuff to trans shops. This is an area of weak knowledge for me, and I appreciate the direct shooting of exactly what is mentioned, in close detail. I would also like to see a more slow, detailed video on t-case rebuilding from this guy! Obviously knows his stuff, which is where I connect! thx for the great vid! r-

    Rich. First off, great video, I like how you already had it apart and were efficient with your explanations. I have a question. My 04 ram has 230k on the transfer case. I was under it the other day because I can hear a clanging noise when I come to a stop sounding like pennies moving around in a tin can then stops when I stop. I crawled under and everything seemed tight but when I grabbed the front axle of the transfer case it allowed me to spin it by hand about 3/8 to 1/2 of an inch and made the same clanging noise. From your experience is that common? I looked at the diagram and your video to get an idea of what kind of repair we are looking at and it seems what I am hearing is movement in the gears and chain that may have slack. In your video it seemed really tight to pull off. Any suggestions?

    i have a 1984 F250 with an NP435 with a NP208 TC, i am getting a loud grinding noise in 4th at 55 mph and while down shifting. If i clutch and take out of gear it stops. I get it going into reverse also. If i baby it, i get no grinding. it shifts fine. Not sure if this is a TC or transmission problem.

      No. Buying anything used puts you in the same spot the day before yours broke. It could let go anytime. Open it up to take a look at what is going on and fix it or buy a rebuilt one with some sort of warranty. I only put used stuff in if the truck is almost worthless and the customer just wants to get by for another year or so

    • @SuperGonggong
      @SuperGonggong 8 лет назад

      Damn, I feel exactly the same way, and I like how you estimate the amount of time that used part could last. Like yeah some owners only look at there junkers to have it around for another year or so. Even though they save some money initially they end up keeping it for years and end up paying way more over the long period of time constantly fixing the same damn thing lol. Do you have any differential servicing videos up? I'm doing it next to my truck.
