    First things first. I love the beard! Not in any way weird, just think it suits you! Second, this build keeps getting better as you get deeper into it. By the time you're finished, it should look gorgeous, and be very practical. Thanks Rich, for giving someone who no longer can, the joy of modifying and building something, without having to get out and get under, as I can't anymore! Thanks from UK.

    After all that work you could have just left the trailer that bit wider.

    Are you going to video racing back to the scrap yard and getting the hydraulic reservoir?
    Also, NEVER narrow up a 102" wide flatbed when you mess with heavy stuff.
    This project is still cool as can be!!

    I drove a tandem axle roll off with the twin cylinder reeving system. It is the American style system it works, uses more cable than the single cylinder set up which is a patent design here in B.C. The rails on yours are designed for low clearance. Roll off trucks are handy as hell. I prefer conventional rail over hook lift on big trucks. The hinge system on your rails are for stability the problem with that system it turns into an anchor when you sink in the landfill. I doubt the Fargo will see a landfill or soft ground 😂

    Just use some cheap light pine or fir boards for the flatbed deck and soak them in used oil every once in awhile, they’ll never rot and it’ll give them a nice dark old look 👍

    With the amount of restoration and sand blasting you're doing, you should seek a sponsorship with one of those Chinese high-power laser rust vaporisers; no mess, no sand clean, shiny metal.

    There's nothing wrong with going overboard on a build that you're enjoying, your that much more likely to use it and get the time and money you spend in it than if you go halfway on it, full send is the only way to get it there sometimes

    I bought a land plane at an auction for $50 it was set up to be pulled with a 3-point, I wanted to pull it with my pickup so I used a log splitter and plumbed it in to a hyd cyl then I had a elect hyd valve that I hooked up a wireless winch controller in and set up a trailer 7 blade plug so I could get 12v from my trailer tail light feed. Worked great just had to be carefully not tofully extend or retract the hyd cyl as it would kill the log splitter engine

  • @firemaniac

    What if for the hitch plate braces, instead of bolting them to the side rails you build link mount's similar to one used for suspension, and used pins for a quicker connect/disconnect?
    Don't put any of the required lighting on that plate, if a trailer isn't being used for a trip, leave the plate secured in the up out of the way position so you don't have to mess with it when you get to the destination and unload.

    Ok hitch idea: forget bolting the braces, use three point pins and maybe even some lift links for your braces. Easy peasy pin it on and off.

  • @todayletsbuild2153
    @todayletsbuild2153 12 дней назад

    Standard hitch plate on frame would be fine. Plenty of equipment trailers already would reach the distance under the roll off. You would loose too much tow rating with that much hitch setback. DOT in the states would never leave you alone.
