Using the 6mm bolts to get that damper off helped A LOT here on the _NP231J SYE upgrade...while in there did the 3-->6 gear planetary swap, Teraflex 2WD low + the 1"-->1-1/4" wide chain upgrade_ . This was a good video to watch before the NP231J here was worked on. Thank you *ASAP Automotive Channel* for this video!
An easy method for pulling blind hole needle bearings is to put grease in the bottom of the hole. Take a shaft (I use a wooden dowel) of the same diameter. You could also use an old transmission shaft. Drive the shaft in with a hammer with a few sharp blows. The hydraulic pressure will push the bearing right out. Works every time. I use that method for removing pilot bushings in a clutch plate.
I would have appreciated a listing of all special tools needed. I caught the OTC Seal driver kit number but, did not get any useful info on the correct pliers needed or the other puller you used on the bearing. Maybe you can add that for future viewers?
Thanks learned a a lot... unfortunately our patient had the chain let go and come through the case.....so a junk yard special is going back in(I recommended a rebuild but they are selling it..) Merry Christmas BE SAFE!

There is an oil hole that lubricates the bearing. The grease would shoot out that hole.
Best resource on the net! Thanks for this. My kid’s XJ tcase is 100% after one winter of abuse.
Great tip on raising the blind puller up a bit. I was about to give up using my puller. Your trick worked great!
Great video. I have a knocking sound coming from my T Case when driving, I was hoping to get a clue what it is from this vid.
Damned good vid
For cleaning parts I use mineral spirits in a spray bottle. Great for plastic parts. It's great for degreasing before painting also.

Hi from Alberta, I have a 2009 Escalade ext awd, I have to sun gears seems like only 1 will fit at a time is there a trick to get the suns on.? Tia.
If mine has the harmonic balancer on, do I need to put it back on or can I leave it off?
If you are doing the slip yoke eliminator kit then it does away with it.
