Before we arrive, we stop off at the street where Chad was arrested to meet his partner Ashleigh who we contacted through Facebook.
We hand over the compensation to Ashleigh and hear of the great things she wants to do with it.
We then fly the drone over both parts of the site including the Ripley Police Station section.

There are hundreds of plod still serving who gained a criminal record while a serving copper. Do a freedom of information request & find out how many "Wrongs uns" your local force employ. Sadly, what they pay out will be recuperated within a nano second through traffic stops or some bogus trumped up charge before the days out. They're revenue collectors at the end of the day. Also, the day they're told to shoot people for some new crime like leaving an area that's under quarantine for a newly generated "V" requirement...they'll do that in a nano second too...They're not civil police anymore, they're a paramilitary outfit far exceeding their remit.

Police used to have bobbies on the beat to find and stop crime. Then they had to use cars, then they had to use helicopters, now they're using drones. I doubt you'd want them using cheap Poundland drones flying over people's houses, parks and grounds, so they have to get professional ones with so much tech.

It's amazing, the number of cops that have time to stand and chat, at a time when, there is so much crime being ignored by the police.

I don't think DJ reads (subtle) body language that well. They were polite(ish) because they know what you do and how damaging public relations could be, I think they've been told to tread carefully now.
Would have liked DJ to have said to them politely "I'm looking forward to the day when compensation comes out of your pockets".

Imagine if you worked for an organisation that had a money pot to pay out for any claims for wrong doing by employees and those employees have no liability for their unlawful activities. This must be the only organisation with such a unique process.

It's just a shame this money doesn't come out of the pockets of the criminal police who stole your liberty. It might make them think twice about their behaviour if they knew there would be a financial impact on them personally when they act outside the law.

Those drone operators, from Derbyshire Police were a credit to the force, having a polite conversation, not being condescending to DJ, and even educating DJ on Sect 22 of the Road Traffics Act. 😂. Well done mate on gifting your compensation to the widow. Respect.

Not negagating what DJ has done, lovely gesture, but AB, has done similar in the past. Just in a different way. It shows cameramen are genuine in what they do, regardless of public opinion on the matter. Lots say its baiting, looking for reaction, yes and no. However, it's not all about making money, at the end of the day DJ could of went on holiday or something. He chose to give it away to a person who suffered at the hands of the police, albeit indirectly, but is living it today. DJ took the hit, and here we are.

Thats a fine line with a sign saying no filming without prior consent, then being able to take a drone up and film from the sky because its not restricted airspace what a get a round! I know Ash, Chad , and his brothers, Step dad, and mother before she passed away, great thing you did passing the compensation on to Ash. Really cool thing to do.

As far as the police are concerned: They knew what you were doing was legal and no offence had been committed, ... but they still had to give you advice and query your competence as a drone flyer. They always have to exert their authority and make out that the public can't possibly know all the rules and abide by them. Why do they need to do this? Have they nothing better to do?
I think next time he should say, "Oh, did I ask for your advice? If I wanted advice I'd ask somebody who knows MORE than me about drones not LESS".
They look so terribly frustrated, they would love nothing more than arresting you, but the sad thing is, they need reasonnable grounds for your arrest, and they can't find any.

Exactly. That child deserved better than having a drug dealer for a father. Sounds like it was his own stupid selfish decisions and a serious mistake of his own doing that cost him his life. Eagerly awaiting results from the inquest into his death and toxicology results.

The worrying thing here is not only how embarrassing the situation has been for this police HQ - even the 'drone' PC had to make out he was 'helping you' by not reading out your address (26:10) and had to have the last say 🙄. He later fished about insurance (34:38). The point is these people somehow cannot help themselves but seem to be unaware of the unlawful arrest of DJ and the unfortunate death of a man in their custody. Realistically they have probably learnt nothing from the situation.
They just can't help themselves, always trying to issue orders and have the upper hand, failing to realise that this is why people watch Audits to see them acting like little Hitlers, cretins

On average for every £1. 00 they pay out in compensation they pay £10 in legal fees to try a wriggle out of it, and it's all public money, it should be personal fines against the individuals responsible for the Breach.
I've said that for a long time. I'm now want to ask my MP this question. But they do not have any constituent meetings anymore. But public liability for every constable is a very good idea,so taxpayers don't have to pay for these uneducated coppers
