Big thumbs up to the two police officers. Very professional.
Must be difficult for them to figure out what you are doing without infringing your rights.
These guys did the right thing by simply asking and listening to your answers.
Problems seem to arise when they overstep their authority or become needlessly aggressive.
It’s always best if they have skills in de-escalating points of contact with members of the public.

Most of the time security asked to look in the back of my trailer as I was leaving site and I used to get pissed off so I'd just sit behind the wheel and tell them to help themselves. I don't take orders so it meant they had to make and effort and open the back doors and have a look which used to drive them mad. I was once told I'd be barred from entering their premises - next time I tried to deliver - if I didn't comply on exit. Basically it's fat blokes sitting around in the gatehouse eating pies. Surely it wouldn’t be too much to expect that they are fully clued up regarding applicable legislation currently in force for the very small area that they appear to think they are entitled to “police”. When told that they are breaking the law etc etc, most people will take that as gospel and comply. How Britain has changed over the last 20 years or so. section 164 RTA 1 (a)
a person driving a motor vehicle (other than an invalid carriage) on a road
so they have your "keepers details" already....but as it is "within" 15 yards or more of a road (not on a road)
    RTA section 34 (3)
It is not an offence under this section to drive a mechanically propelled vehicle on any land within fifteen yards of a road, being a road on which a motor vehicle may lawfully be driven, for the purpose only of parking the vehicle on that land (permission granted)
there is a case where person was on private pub car park , where the police tried to use it as admissible as "public place" as the opening hours were stated on the pub board 11.30 am to 11.30 pm,,
BUT the car was parked @ 10:00 am on the private land (not publicly accessible ) before opening hours so section 164 could not be used , they did not see person driving ,, they then tried ASB ,,,only to fail as no other persons in the location
