  • Today we take a look at John Lewis & Partners Distribution Centre - Magna Park 1, Fen St, Old Farm Park, Milton Keynes MK17 8EW.
    We follow a footpath to a security barrier where we speak to a truck driver and see great things from security who are checking vehicles on the way out.
    We return to the public footpath for the drone video and then security come outside and let us know what they are going to allow us to do.
    We try and explain that flying the drone over the building is nothing to worry about but they decide to phone the police.
    Enjoy!

      There is already an offence regarding wasting police time. The relevant element of the legislation in this case is that the person making the complaint must know that no offence is actually being committed when they make the report. It should never be the case that any member of the public should be afraid they'll be fined for reporting, what they believe, is an offence being committed.

    • @ChizzAir
      @ChizzAir Год назад

      @@stevethomas2559 That's, ideally, exactly how it should play out. Given that the police are usually filming when out in public, they should have a reasonable grasp of the relevant legislation. I don't believe every officer should, or could, have an understanding of every obscure bit of legislation however, that would be an impossible task.
      If officers are being asked to attend an incident where they've got a knowledge gap, they should have a point of contact within the police force (most police forces have drone operators) to educate them before they start questioning members of the public.
      The real problem here isn't that these John Lewis employees were going to call the police, it's that they approached DJ, told him what to do, didn't listen to what he had to say in response and only after DJ wouldn't comply with their orders they went to call the police.
      It's reasonable to assume that someone who's flying a drone and is doing so openly is going to know what they can and can't legally do. If you still have concerns and decide to question them directly, listening to what they say is essential. Most operators are not going to be obstructive and would be happy to alleviate any concerns.

      No company or person wants some random guy dressed in inconspicuous clothes inorder to hide themselves asking nonsense questions and has no actual idea about anything that they are filming to start filming their businesses or facilities or employees. Then adding a drone. John Lewis isn’t going to care nor should they because these auditors are only there to get a reaction and cause trouble under the guise of it beinging a lawful activity. This guy and all the auditors that do this stuff are just a public nuisance. The fans of auditors like yourself cheer them on like “wow I can’t believe x company employs these people”. But every other normal person thinks these guys are douche bags which they are. Theirs a million hobbies don’t pick the one that effects blue collar workers.

      @@Hangnailer47 - whether “these people” are douche bags or not is moot. No-one going about their lawful business should expect or endure interference from anyone, employees of some company or otherwise. There are many examples of officious people demanding behaviour of others where they have no right or need to do so and unless there are some that demonstrate the rights we have then those rights may disappear. You may not like the law but until it is changed it is the law.
      I do find some of the interactions somewhat cringey, on both sides, but there’s nothing wrong with what “auditors” are doing when they are polite, unconfrontational and within the law. Private security giving orders to members of the public, however, is not on.
      There have been examples, if you follow this and other channels, where the organisations have (at least given the appearance of) welcoming the attention and using it as positive PR.

      @@portlyoldman dude it’s a pretty clear cut formula. Go to a business that has security, film in front of the property within eyeshot of the security, get a response from them. Obviously they don’t want you or anyone just hanging out infront of their business with a camera filming because it’s weird and nobody does that besides auditors. 99% of the time the guys just say they don’t want to be on camera which who does by a stranger, they don’t want you filming the property because again it’s really odd more than half the time it’s warehouses with nothing going on besides daily work tasks and employees may actually feel uncomfortable or that you’re casing the joint or looking for a specific employee. Some of these confrontations with security seems like boarder line harassment. They aren’t interested in the business at all.
      This guy shows up to places on a bike so his car can’t be tracked completely covered up and starts filming and gets confronted and answers questions pretty much very vaguely because the questions don’t really matter. He doesn’t care about company or business or brand it just to get a reaction but if you film him he puts a mask on to conceal his identity. It would be really sketchy to anyone. He demands them to have respect for the public but at the same time completely disrespects their requests. The private security of these businesses aren’t going out to the public and demanding thing from of them. When have you heard of a security guard from x company go out to the side walk and demand things. It’s only when you have a camera filming them and the business they say hey can you not do that please. Again these are just to get a reaction and say I can do this and there’s nothing you can do about it haha. It’s just being a nuisance and again everyone besides the people that support these auditors see that. Yes you are lawfully allowed to do this but should you? Is going around to company’s and warehouses where these blue collar workers are working hard hours and probably not getting paid enough and getting them riled up for the kicks of being like I’m allowed to do this there’s nothing you can do about it really something to be proud or happy about? I get filming police and catching them doing shady stuff and violating laws and rights but blue collar workers I think is scummy.
