    A complete original who inspired several generations of musicians, with a voice brimming with tone and attitude, all while controlled and authentic. That's Mr. Stills. An undeniable icon.

    No thumb picks, and no nails as far as I can see. His electronics give him a great sound, but he gets such a crisp snap to his playing, and his syncopation is world. Lass. He does just enough to sound like a master but not too much to seem like he’s showing off. Been playing since I was a late teenager in the late 90s, and he flew under my radar for a long time. What a player. Thanks for posting this.

    CSN Lakeland Civic Center , Sat Oct 16, 1982, Daylight Again tour , same year as this video clip , the most amazing Stephen Still performance I have ever seen, I still remember saying "Wow" walking to my car. I've seen CSN-Y many times, Stills was on another musical planet that night . Stephen Stills is simply a musical genius ,

    'I usually work alone....' Just love it. All gratitude to the guys who were 5 yrs or older to my cohort. We got spared compared to them. This song is a slice of what it was like for some vets. I love he has part of his heart in our vets in song.

    A great tune, I got to catch him live solo in Portland ME. Played this one, the one I prayed he would. This was 15 or so years ago. Thanks for the vid, brought back some memories. Not many people realize how prolific and amazing Stills is. If "For What it's Worth" by Buffalo Springfield was the only thing he ever did he would still be famous. This guy was in two of the most influential bands of all time, and had solo stuff as well as his other band Manassas, which is a good one too.

    • @School.Of.Athens
      @School.Of.Athens 9 месяцев назад +2

      Great, eye!! I love my baby Martin
      A smaller guitar fits better for me
      He predominantly used martins
      This song came out on a 1991 album believe it or not
      Solo
      And is out of print as far as you might not even find it on Spotify probably because of copyright issues or something like that
      The album got mixed reviews which is crazy, mostly because he uses that synth sound, and the critics said it’s not authentic
      Boo-hoo, right ? Lol sounds awesome to me.

      ? If you mean he is driven by them... most great men are to a large extent. The gift that poets and musicians give us is that they turn them into song for us to express. Not an easy or joyful task.

    Ironic a song from a guy who wrote protest songs for that war.

    • @melissa9375
      @melissa9375 2 месяца назад

      Not really. Do a little background or message me and ask. I teach popular 20th century music and can clarify. FWIW wasn't about Vietnam or protests - it was adopted by causes for their purposes and it fits, but that was not his intent. He didn't write Ohio; great production on it, but it was DC's idea and NY's song.

    I love a bunch of hippie accusing veterans of illegal activities. They can suk a whole bog of them.

    • @Mister_Pedantic
      @Mister_Pedantic 4 месяца назад +2

      It's a tribute to them.

    • @melissa9375
      @melissa9375 2 месяца назад

      Wow... a little off base??? First of all, SS was no hippie, never claimed to be. The only person at Woodstock wearing a white button down shirt and a watch. Secondly, he went to military school and has always retained a lot of respect for and admiration of the military. Third, Treetop Flyer is both a tribute to the pilots' skill AND our disservice to the veterans by not providing them with good, paying jobs when they returned. You might want to rethink a bit.
