      Jackon Browne has continued to play at a high level well into his 70s This is encouraging for people such as myself as I wish to continue what I do now in moderation for another 20 years as I will be close to 70 then.... The longer you live the better your odds of living a longer life. Exercise is the true key to push back aging.@@stargazer6753

Being good, decent citizens who get up every day, pack their lunch and work behind the scenes only to look forward to coming home to one's they love and stroll through the cool of the evening after a hectic day. Sounds like a dream, illusion or fantasy to so many people struggling so much now a days. Keep singing the song and the magic will never die.

    Hearing Jackson singing this song with the way it captures the heartbreak of the broken promise of one whose dreams have been allowed to be crushed, gives me the chills. It is an amazing insight into the illusion of American culture at times, and its affect on the human spirit. I don't believe anyone writes with the insight and depth about the human experience that Jackson does. What a gift. May he continue indefinitely.

      It's such a beautiful gift to be able to share such moments of beauty with our elders. I'm sixty five and my dad was a musician, ragtime piano but he died too soon and I took too long to awaken the Beatles and their peers took me away from these ideas I played piano but the guitar seduced me. Now whenever I hear someone like Bruce Hornsby I know dad would have loved his musicianship but he's gfone.

    This is THE song for anyone in the midst of broken dreams and shattered idealism - which probably speaks to most of us. No big drama here - just a grim collection of realities that can't be denied. For those of us who were of that age in the early 70's, hearing this song provided some comfort but no solutions - at least Jackson understood and laid out the sad, sorry condition so perfectly. So we put on our sunglasses and get through the night to fall in line for another day. Get over it - that's who you are. Bittersweet - but this version is the best I've heard - and that includes the original recording. ...Wow - what a writer.

      but it does not always have to be that way. Jackson himself said and sang You Love the Thunder" and "For a Rocker" Yeess, he is probably the best when you are down. But the Eagles spoke to the Desperado in all of us - you better let somebody love you, before its too late. even if it is yourself.

      Greenlight. This may be the best version or it could be the best version of another song, but I have found that almost all of Jackson's live versions are better than his recordings, with maybe the exception of his first album as in "Doctor My Eyes " and "Rock Me On The Water" and maybe the whole rest the album of because of his spectacular backup. In my opinion as he has gotten older he has returned to that solid earthy sort of raw baritone voice that he started out with, only refined a little bit, and that counts for a lot

      I mean no disrespect, and I like your wine-aging metaphor, but perhaps it's your listening abilities that have improved with age. I implore you to listen to These Days, a song Jackson wrote when he was only 16 that demonstrates how insightful he was to the human experience even at that young age. He seems to have needed no further aging.

      But all his best work is from the 70s... If he only improved with time where are all his phenomenal albums and songs from the 80s 90s, 00s and today? I cant think of one single music artist whos best work is from their later years, it just doesnt work like that and I have no idea why you are trying to suggest otherwise with Jackson Browne.

    • @peteralbert1485
      @peteralbert1485 3 года назад

      @@NowhereMan7 Jackson Browne wrote “Human Touch” only a couple of years ago. It’s one of his best songs. And Neil Young wrote “Harvest Moon” - also one of his best songs - in his later years. These are two older singer songwriters whose all-time best work is at least matched by some of their more recent songs.

      Angie none of your business: Yours is a very cool story. I am a hermit too and was recently thinking that one of the few things that might get me to break down and leave my protective shell would be to attend a Jackson Browne concert. Of course it would have to be after dark. So if you happen to see a tall, dark haired, quiet, gaunt guy dressed in muted colors who looks a bit out of style and maybe out of synch, with a ponytail and smelling reminicent of weed, give me some respect and keep your distance while I enjoy myself in one of my rare trips out in a long time.
