    Early 70's was the high water mark for being young and being in love. We could go to a concert almost every week. We would get a new song from these great groups like magic every week as well. Magical. 😅

      @mgebi1 Месяц назад

      @MXP90DL That whole decade it was incredible to think in the beginning we still had he beatles! And too much talent to list. Incredible. Music will never see again! We actually earned money bought tickets, bought records. No download. If you wanted to have the #1 song people had to get to a stroe and ringbup sales. None of this beyonce crap drop an album on line overnight. Then complain you didn't get enough grammys for some crap recording with autotune. I went to general admission concerts. With fascinating musicians, who played,wrote, sang,performed. Did it all. Great times!!

  • @BobKovacs
    @BobKovacs 10 месяцев назад +38

    This was really great to see. Not only is this the original lineup of the Eagles (Randy Meisner, Glenn Frey, Don Henley, Bernie Leadon), but that's Don Felder, guitarist extraordinaire in the back. Then Leadon does the lead guitar part -- pretty well, too -- instead of Felder. (Leadon played lead on the original song by the Eagles.) Add to all that Linda Ronstadt and Jackson Browne, and it was really great to see. What a show!

    I wish everyone could have lived through this period ("it's a girl, my lord, in a flatbed Ford, slowing down to take a look at me"). Things were so different then, 1967-1972, relaxed, great music, and haven't been like that since. If you didn't live it, I'm so sorry for you.

    It was Glenn Frey & J.D. Souther who lived in the apartment above Jackson Brown when they were playing music as a duo called “Longbranch Pennywhistle” Don Henley & Glen Frey weren’t roommates until after that. When Jackson Browne was writing this song, he got stuck with writers block half way through it, so he asked Glenn Frey to help him finish it. So it was Jackson Browne AND Glenn Frey who wrote “Take it easy.”

    I saw the Eagles on their first big tour; the opening act for Jethro Tull. No one knew who they were, and they come out with these impeccable, flawless live tight harmonies that the genre hadn't heard since CSNY.
    Many people love their music, but I'm not sure how many people truly appreciate the talent, and skill, and hard work behind the perfection of their live performances.
    And how great for Linda, and Jackson who were both an important part of the foundation on which the band formed, and flourished.

    I teach high school geometry and was subbing for the history teacher. The lesson for the day was the history and significance of 80’s rock and the influence of MTV. I graduated high school in 1981 and saw some the greatest rock bands ever live. I never saw the Eagles, Jackson Browne or Linda Rondstat. This was epic and was surprised that in a class of about 20 students 1/2 of them appreciated the bands that were featured in the documentary. I asked how they became familiar with 70-80’s rock and they said from their parents vintage vinyl. Long live rock and roll 🎸

    Glad we have this old stuff recorded.

      Ronstadt was the Centerpiece of this world. She recruited struggling musicians Frye and Henley. When they backed her on tour they eventually said they would like to form their own band. Encouraging them she suggested they recruit Bernie Leadon who then rejoined her band. Linda and her manager then suggested Randy Meisner. They all played around with her, worked out their chops and backed her on her self titled album. They helped them score a record deal with Geffen. Jackson was there and part of the scene but it was Ronstadt that brought them together as a band.

He is always a joy to watch and listen to. I can truly say he's my favorite artist of all time because his pure love of the music always shines through.

    The first time I drove cross-country, I noticed on my map that the Intersate I was traveling (I-40?) would pass close by Winslow, Arizona. This was probably in 1978. Had to pull off the highway and check out the town for a few minutes. I stood on a corner in Winslow, Arizona ... but no girl in a flatbed Ford slowed down to take a look at me! 😃
    (I don't know if the town already had its statue built recognized the song, but if it was there, I didn't see or know about it. No Internet in those days ...)

      Agreed. Not flashy/showy- always a bit shy on stage. Schmidt could sing high with power but not with the sweetness - or astounding range - of Meisner. And their bass parts took a huge step backwards. Randy’s bass playing was fleshed out, dynamic and extremely advanced - yet a perfect fit for the Eagles’ fairly uncomplicated chord structures. TBB came in to the Eagles as fundamentally a root-five player who improved by having to play Randy’s parts.
