Just begin with the original Spawn run. Unlike Marvel and DC characters, Spawn wasn't scattered around multiple different titles for most of the time he's been around.

It's convenient to read so definitely get it. Eventually at a certain point just search for Spawn reading order so you'll get the idea of when to read the other Spawn titles that started publishing later.
You do realize that the super soldier formula for every character that it has been used for is not the same right ? In a Wolverine and Deadpool are examples of them trying to replicate the super soldier program and serum and got vastly different results...also look at Weapon H

Honestly? The only thing holding them up are the outside media like shows and movies. And it had been that way for twenty years or more. Their comics are far less accessible than even One Piece because American comics are a scam where stories are spread to seven or more lines instead of coherent self-contained stories with a little crossover overlap. At least with that series, it’s one story. That and the animated and movie versions sometimes differ greatly since the comics are targeted to older generations only while the kid oriented versions are watered down to what they believe kids can handle. Due to the culture, I just shrugged and save for a few American superhero comics, never looked back. I prefer the indie or the various Asian or European comics when I get the chance to. Their clinging to nostalgia and changing nothing is going to be their death.
