After Homelandet was killed I wondered where else the story could go with a whole other story arc left. Making Butcher the final act villain was genius.

@@trevturp6891Butcher's whole life was tainted by violence, from his abusive father to his war against supers, eventually scaling to the point where he turned against his own group and tried to commit an act of mass terrorism, Butcher was never a hero, but that notion may have been lost in a world as degenerate as the one he lives in, with many people seeing him as some sort of anti-hero or necessary evil, this final act was the drop of all pretenses to see Butcher as the sociopath he truly was, the one he was turned into.

For some reason I feel like they are going to go down this route but In a different way.
I think this ending can still work. It just has to be more subtle of a switch than in the comics. The comics seemed to have him turn on a dime.
I don’t mind the idea of butcher turning bad and Hughie having to stop him but it has to build up right
I wouldn't be surprised the butcher of the show do something like that.
It’s going to happen, sadly. Especially from the last few episodes with Butcher being kicked out of The Boys and the fact Billy’s only got a few months to live because of the Compound V. The virus to kill all Supes was introduced in Gen V, and Billy is going to want it before he dies.
That's why th3y brought Joe Kessler in season 4
Based off of the newest EP and that Sameer mentioned how the virus could become air born and kill all supes, It's definitely going to happen in the show but it'll play out a bit different. Butcher will still become unhinged and try to destroy all supes but this will build up due to the parasite messing with his brain. My theory is that this story arc will probably take place next season with this season ending with Victory Numan becoming president.
It wasn't really a switch, it was shown from the first issues that Butcher would stop at nothing in his crusade against Supes, when asked about the possibility of a few good Supes he just said "fuck them", this extending to anyone that was super powered or exposed to V in any way.

Everyones complaining but this is where Butcher was meant to end up. The show gave him becca back and ryan so he could have some humanity left. But Butcher is based on Punisher, both men that wage a war on crime, and Frank Castle doesnt get his family back or a happy ending. For the real butcher, this one, no other ending could have been better

They are going in a different direction, which is a shame, because Butcher becoming the final villain was the best twist of the story.

All this stuff, we’re seeing in the comics could be Joe Kessler’s version of butcher everyone’s trying to reason with the Butcher, but technically and mentally he’s not even the same person so just seems more like a dick like when Kessler told the wife to shut her mouth I was getting comic vibes

He will at first resist and side with Becca but eventually, he will side with Joe Kessler and cause a global pandemic that will wipe out all Supes because the current virus isn't strong enough to end Homelander's life

I don't watch the show anymore but I really hope it ends well, having Butcher as the final antagonist would be brilliant. He was a villain from the start, his brutal murders of Mesmer and Gunpowder should be telling signs of how hateful he really is.

I much prefer show Butcher, but I can see show Butcher going down this same route. With the Compound V slowly killing him and affecting his mental state, show Butcher will probably find himself at odds with his former team to get that virus to kill all Supes.

Pretty much, not exactly though. See, kripke took a more "art imitates life" approach, where alongside the main story there's also the mockery of American politics, that too, is a very accurate one. To be honest, so many people being mad at the latest season proves that the imitation is accurate.
