This was so fun to watch for me I don't know were to begin ! Never seen your channel before but RUclips recommended this Buckethead one. It's obvious to me that Kel totally gets it on her very first listen! So did I just last year when RUclips place Buckethead Soothsayer into my recommended list. If you read all you can find about Buckethead you'll probably, like me, wonder what's really going on with him. My conclusion is that he is one of the most gifted musicians of our time ! I'm very thankful that he is supported by his crew and able to share his talent with us. If you are looking into and through some of his magical & melodic musical creations.. it's like seeing the reflection of God. I don't know how else to put it. The unimaginable genius within that we just see the shadow of. I can barely wait to go to 2 live events I have tic's for in my home state of Ohio. I've very blessed to see live so many amazing shows since 1976 including Zeppelin , Queeen , Luciano Pavarotti , Andrea Boccelli , Roy Orbison, Shania ,Eddie , Satriani , Rush like 30 times ! and many ,many more.
But buckethead is the end of my journey. My Bucketlist will be complete soon !! 57 years is all it took.

Wow this is such a nice suprise to wake up to!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! I'm a big fan of instrumental guitar and Buckethead stands out among the legends. Kel you were right about the albums. But the number is 306 to be exact. Not all of it is as amazing as this and mostly experimental but even still the guy is such a fountain of creativity.
"The anonymous, mostly mute guitarist Buckethead is one of the more over-the-top, mysterious figures in rock. Sporting a Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket on his head and a white mask over his face, the artist has claimed in his rare interviews (and online biography) that he was raised in a chicken coop by . . . chickens. The birds scratched him so severely that he must forever cover his face. And the KFC bucket, you see, is a kind of homage to all the chickens fried for food, whose souls Buckethead channels whenever he picks up his axe."
If you were to do another Buckethead song I would reccomend any of these
    Siege Engine
    Welcome to Bucketheadland
    Hold me forever
    Crumple
    Lebrontron

Thank you for this. Big B is so great in concert. My bro and his wife checked him out on 3/9 and Dallas and it was such a great concert all three of us are flying up to Michigan the end of April to see him again.
Yes Buckethead has a record breaking catalog of material. He has over 300 hundred albums of his own and has appeared on another 150 other albums. He self publishes his albums so he doesn't have to do what publishers want him to do and of course he has never gotten main stream popularity because of it.
Also he is misunderstood because alot people see the bucket and are turned off, but he hasn't shown his face in public in over 25 years because he has no interest in fame and being popular...with bucket it is all about the music...I have alot of respect for him.
So one of his most popular songs would be the song he wrote for his mother which is Pike 65 Hold me Forever but that is 30 minutes long and to long for you to react here.
For your channel, I would suggest doing either Jordan, Whitewash, or Nottingham Lace for your next one. Keep rocking love you guys, you have hit on alot of my favs like Iron Maiden, Queensryche already....you might want to consider the legend himself....Dio Holy Diver or Last in Line at some point. Sweet.

Pike 65 is indeed very special. My wife listens to a lot of metal too but she is very eclectic with "shredders". She discovered Pike 65 and still plays it (the whole thing) very regularly after 3-4 years. It just drips emotion and you know it's very sincere playing and expression. Suzie, who passed away in 2007. and soothsayer is from 2006. so there's another song called sail on soothsayer from 2007, everything indicates that his aunt was already sick in 2006. this explains why two songs were dedicated to her.

    From his Wikipedia:
"I tried out that Buckethead guy. I met with him and asked him to work with me, but only if he got rid of the [profanity] bucket. So I came back a bit later, and he's wearing this green [profanity] Martian's-hat thing! I said, 'Look, just be yourself.' He told me his name was Brian, so I said that's what I'd call him. He says, 'No one calls me Brian except my mother.' So I said, 'Pretend I'm your mum, then!' I haven't even got out of the room and I'm already playing [profanity] mind games with the guy. What happens if one day he's gone and there's a note saying, 'I've been beamed up'? Don't get me wrong, he's a great player. He plays like a mother[profanity]."[33]

Buckethead is a sole musician. There isn't a band, while he may hire a support drummer or someone for his live performances, most of the time the supporting rhythms/percussion is just a pre-recorded track, and Buckethead plays the lead.
He has so much freedom with his work, he doesn't have to cooperate with other band members, he just plays and records and does what he loves. He has tried to play in a band in his early years but it just isn't his thing. His work is complex, but simple. There is usually no vocal track, just him playing and doing his thing. That's how he can do so much work in so little time.
What makes him even more impressive is he is only 49. He only really started playing professionally in 1988. 1988 through 2009 he made a few albums, collaborated on other artists work, and played with several bands. In 2010, he departed all bands and projects and started his solo career and his Pikes. From 2010-2013 he released 31 albums. Starting in 2014, he started seriously ramping up his solo album production.
    2014: 60 Pikes
    2015: 118 Pikes
    2016: 24 Pikes
    2017: 30 Pikes
He calls them Pikes because they are short albums, typically around ~30 minutes. It will be hard to pick a "song" from any of these albums, most songs are 1-3 minutes long and aren't really meant to be listened to individually. If you were to do any of the pikes, it's probably best to listen to the entire pike. But Buckethead does have a good amount of full length song material to listen to as well. Even I haven't had the chance to listen to each one of those pikes.
And you're right, 200 albums is an inaccurate number, he has released over 300 like others have already mentioned! And most of those are only 5 years old. Buckethead is truly talented fellow, and not because of quantity... but pick anyone and you'll go on a 30 minute adventure.

Buckethead is an undisputed master of shred. But let's just talk about his melodies for a moment. They're just genius. They keep you engaged and transport your mind to places not on this Earth. The combination of both shred and melodic offerings, plus that tone (OMG his tone!), is what gives BH his unique sound. It's just amazing.

He has a lot, he's on my Spotify, and I haven't counted them all, but I spent an hour and a half adding each album when I found a the one's he's put on there. I lost count at around 60 - 70 albums. Some only have like one track or 4 while some have 10 or more. But none are under 30 min hardly (tracks).
    Skadoosh indeed!

thing about bucket head, is he is very much like classical composers in that he will take a simple melodic phrase and repeat it throughout the composition with embellishments and variations. his technique is flawless , and his feel for melody and harmony's beyond compare. I've taught guitar for 35 years and im a shredder from the 80, s so the bar is pretty high for me , and B H never fails to impress me. p . s your very lucky to have a girl that likes the same music as you do, my girl hates my music lol best regards

My friends all say my guitar playing sounds like Buckethead crossed with Dave Gilmour from Pink Floyd. Which is weird because I grew up playing Megadeth and stuff. Maybe they were influenced by those guys as well. But that's in terms of note choice and phrasing. I don't use wah-wah, or whammy pedal, or a killswitch button. Those are the weird sounds you guys are hearing. I'm more plug and play.
Thanks for this. I know others will suggest another song called Jordan, and if they do I wholly endorse that request.

This is one of the guitar greats.. and awesome showman. He prefers to be solo.. doing his own thing for the sheer joy of music. He has turned down deals that could net him lots of $$… he simply loves to play. From what I have read, he is an orphaned robot , raised by chickens, which were murdered and fried at KFC, I guess wearing the bucket as a protest...
