This was without a doubt the best reaction video that I have ever watched. The chemistry between the two of you and the depth of your critiques of both the music and the manner in which it affects you is so very interesting and intriguing. It’s like having a conversation with the best couple at the party with an awesome soundtrack playing.
The n you shared sleep rhythm charts made me smile because I can put my headphones on, put on BLS and be sound asleep before the second song has finished!

Helene here. I had never before heard Lovebites nor Black Label Society. But immediately, I think I get what Kel means, because I am that way myself. I could deeply respect the talent, creativity, top skills, energy of Lovebites, I appreciate what they have accomplished…..intellectually. But they didn’t reach my soul. For me, there was not enough gritty low end….the bass was too pulled back, the tone of the guitar was too bright and sharp, the timbre of the singer’s voice lacked depth and power. It sounded “thin” to me. Compare her voice with that of Floor Jansen, for instance. All in all….the sound of Lovebites, fir me, was too much treble and not enough bass, which meant it didn’t reach down to my insides or give me chills. Plus, the constantly high bpm wears thin after a bit for me.
Compare to just the first few minutes of BLS; gritty, growling bass prominent in the mix….lower, more distorted tone on the guitar…less bright and sharp. Slower, grinding beat, which gives the music time to breathe…and a voice with more substance and power, but who is not screaming all the time. My kind of rock and metal. Thanks, Rich! I think you’ve nailed what Kel is looking for right now. And very selfishly, I think it’s great because I love it too! I do hope however, that your channel will not now become solely a metal channel….but will keep some classic hard rock and blues going…Check out Black Country Communion….listen to the Alvin Lee song I’ve been pleading for……

I absolutely LOVE zakks guitar tone on these songs so freaking much. Even when he was in ozzy.

Oh and I’ve seen BLS like 4-5 times in my lifetime (I’m only 30, born in 1992) and they are AWESOME live and one of my favs to see.

In my humble opinion, the next step in this Zakk Wyld/Black Label Society journey, should be BLS's "Funeral Bell." Just a deep, grinding, chunky rif, in typical Zakk style.
Outside of that, the Ozzy album "No More Tears." There's not a bad song on the album.

I can only imagine. For when I started listening was when they released 1919 Eternal. I was into Ozzy and Sabbath before that. So Black Label kinda just naturally was there for me. Happy for your lady. Amazing to experience these songs for the first time. Last one you did in this video is one of my favorites. Stillborn, man..... Such a fine song. I like their ballads quite much as well. My favorite ballad from Zakk is "Damage Is Done".
Or…..Whitesnake-Slow and Easy….more Bluesy,hard Melodic sound with Jon Sykes on Guitar! Or Sykes other Band,Blue Murder…Valley of the Kings.

I like this... It has a Black Sabbath vibe. Its heavy without being overbearing, trying to rip my head off or something. Its like a slow burn! Wow, then theres that riff in Stillborn.

Watch "In this River" live, he was Dime bags best friend and he wrote that song for him after he was murdered. They play it every set. He is such an incredible guitarist, they are incredible live, he does a half hour solo walking through the crowd it's really amazing. Check out the studio versions of Rust and Blackened Waters and Funeral Bell just for starters. Enjoy...
I was born in the 70s and have obviously experienced the 80s scene as a teenager...I loved what Ozzy and Zakk did back in the day with their music and videos ...BUT now Zakk is all about a lead up to his same ole sounding sped up solo that is seriously at the point boring and repetitious....But every once awhile to his credit you get some real gems that will test the time
Rest of their songs sucked too. Entire audience was completely bored. Just being there to be cool. That was my take
I got to hang out with Zakk for a bit. He's the funniest mfer ever, second only to Steve Whiteman of KIX.

Saw them in concert the 9 inch nails, didn't sound anywhere near as good. Studio manufactured band based on thier one hit. "Head like a hole" yeah a couple of great lines. Not too imaginative tho

Probably the reason you haven’t heard them was because he was ozzy Osborne guitarist for all those years and put more time into ozzy Zakk also had another band called pride and glory he is the singer and guitarist in his bands

Steve Vai ....play her "Bad Horsie" but also go back to his dual in the movie "Crossroads" to listen to the guitar dual........then for as pure of a blues guy as you will ever hear there is a 24 year old kid named Christone "Kingfish" Ingram.....you will be blown away!!

Rich reminds me of myself...I was a dude who grew up in the 70's and 80's that listened to everything...those are still the best all around musicians ever...still on my playlists....at first it seems sad that you were denied access to that music....BUT wow what an awakening to hear it now!! Silent Lucidity reaction and Moody Blues reaction....I know what it feels like to be enthralled like that....just mine was at a young age....keep it up....many many many great songs to go!!

The only thing better than listening to zakks music is playing it on guitar. The drop c tuning, the d tuning, riff slaying chugged naut monster zakk wylde....king of metal. And is now playing with Phil Anselmo doing Pantera reunion if u guys didn't already know!!!

So the response was on point to what I would have expected for Stillborn. It is tough not to get pulled in to that groove. My exposure to BLS was from Guitar Hero of all things.

May I suggest also listening to Texas Hippie Coalition. Songs like Pissed Off And Mad About It & Rock Ain't Dead (It's In Rehab) define what they call red dirt metal. Both songs have that sound Kel loves. Keep up the good work ! So good to see you again. Hello to Prog Dog Winston!
