I already have several and just bought a bass, as well. These guitars in fifteen years are going to be like the Burny or Tokai. People are going to be saying "man, I wish I'd bought a bunch back then..."

Hang onto them. When they are in shops in the US the price will go up. My tagima 635 model was 169 bucks when I bought it over a year ago, and they were not readily available, now they are selling for $350 dollars or more...and they do not have a $252 dollar floyd rose 1000, or grover tuners on them. These will go up considerably in price if they make it to the US, be safe.

I have both the this SC-Custom FR and a (non-FR) Lemon Flame SC-Custom and they are both good but both very different beasts, not only the Floyd etc but the neck is different too and generally a very different feel and some difference in tone mainly due to Floyd. So not a bad thing at all to have both as they are different guitars. Only thing not great about either is they both have the Roswell LAF pickups which are adequate but you are never going to have an "amazing !" moment with them: Iron Gear are waving to me as we speak.

Ordering one end of the month, I cannot wait, only real issue with these guitars I've heard is that the strap locks at crap and wear out and come off by themselves, not a deal breaker for me as I always buy Jim Dunlop strap locks for all my guitars, nice review

The title can be used with a large % of the Harley Benton's. Those Benton's that are not on the lowest tier have proven themselves with me, as i have 4 of them currently. Volume and direct sales can do great things for the consumer, if these savings are passed on to the consumer as Thomann does.

I’m pretty much definitely getting one right after quarantine finishes. One small thing about them that is a welcome surprise I think is that they come with grovers, and I hate tuning like most ppl so I like they did that. It’s basically my ideal guitar however it would be nice if hb made a model with a darker fretboard on the non FR models tho. Anyways can’t wait to get one.

The SC-Custom w/Floyd is near the top of the Harley Benton line. The thickness of the body is my only long term issue. When i see it hanging next to my other guitars it looks too thin. Still weighs a lot though and sounds great. The neck and fretjob on all my Harley Benton's have been top notch. Nice hot bridge PUP and no split coil on my older model. It also has Wilkenson PUP's, so it is not what is available today. I got mine to the door for just under $194 in 2018 or 2017.

I bought the same guitar 3 weeks ago - and I love it. i love the sound, and the look - the only thing - the action was a little bit too hight. - but no problem - easy to low it down. I planned to remove the pickups - but - no - the standard pickups sound perfekt on that guitar. . I love it!

I bought the same in march 2019 and it was perfect - and still is -maybe they had a bad batch inbetween - but (at least in europe) you can send them back without any problem and get refunded or if you wish another one. Meanwhile i have 9 Harley Bentons and the only one that was not ok was taken back and exchanged with no charge. They all play well and if you want to change the pickups to your liking they are still a very good deal.

I have the old version with a tunamatic, I have had a guitar with a Floyd when they first came out and I hated it this was in the early eighties with no internet, I had heard about the Floyd from friends but had never seen one, I then came across a used Ibanez in a music store, I dont know which model as the headstock had been repaired and painted over, and this guitar had the Floyd. I bought it and set it up which was a pain in the butt but not as painfull as changing the strings, I ended up changing the bridge for a hardtail

I bought a Harley Benton XT 22 that was shipped from Germany to Georgia USA and I had to tune the top E string. I bought a Harley Benton HB 35 Plus form a man in Atlanta who bought it in December of 2019 and lowered the bridge, adjusted the pickups, and tuned. I was looking at PSR guitars to get the sound as my 1973 Les Paul Deluxe Gold Top is too heavy. I played at least a dozen American and SE PRS guitars and the XT plays better and sounds better than all the post 1970's Gibsons and PRS guitars. I took a chance on the Harley Benton XT 22 because the worst case I was out $205 plus shipping and customs fees. I would not buy any guitar but a Harley Benton without playing it first. My 3rd American Stratocaster was stolen in May so I will be ordering a Harley Benton Stratocaster and a CDL 41 SE acoustic to complete the guitars I want. I play Beatles and Steve Howe of Yes so I needed a semi hollow body, I do solo shows so I need an acoustic and the XT 22 will work on all Les Paul, SG, and PSR tones as the split coil, and everyone who does cover should have a Stratocaster.

Neck is Mahogany and Fretboard is Jatoba a Rosewood Substitute. Actually harder an more durable than Rosewood. The Floyd Rose 1000 is Floyd's cheaper Korean made Trem about $100 retail. The Top of the Line Floyd's are the $260 German made by Schaller. The Best Floyd style Trem on the market right now is the Gotoh 1996T High Stability Tremolo Unit an improved Floyd. These are Super High Quality Japanese made from Hardened Japanese Steel. They come with a Brass Block, redesigned Tremolo Arm, Patented Gotoh Locking Studs and will retrofit all Floyd's and Floyd licensed. They have zero play making them super responsive because of the Locking Studs and redesigned Arm. Best of All They're $100 at Philadelphia Luthier Tools with free shipping and they're better than the German Schaller made Floyd's. The Patented Gotoh Locking Studs are sold separately for $20 - $30 and will take most if not all of play out of any Floyd. I would recommend these Studs with any Floyd. They Lock down tight and have zero movement so your Trem will have zero play.
    God Bless.

Nice info and thanks for watching but this tremolo costs more than 100 retail (i think you are thinking of the Floyd Rose Special) but you are correct that it was made in Korea. The special uses cheaper materials on some parts but the 1000 series is the same as the German FR but made in Korea to keep it about 100 bucks cheaper than the Original Floyd Rose. Much of your info i was not aware of and am glad you shared.

    • @jamesreaves5534
      @jamesreaves5534 4 года назад +1

@@RickyTickyTVI stand corrected. You're 110% right. The cheapest price I found on the Floyd 1000 Series is $232. The 1000 is the low Profile version of the Original Floyd. It's made in Korea but it's made of the exact same materials as the German Floyd and are the same Quality. I mistakenly thought the Special and the 1000 were the same. I know a Guitar factory pays far less than $232 retail price, but for the price of the HB Fusion Guitars you'd think they'd give you a dirt cheap POS (Piece Of Shit) Floyd licensed like you see on eBay for $20. I don't know How Thomann can sell these Guitars for this price and make a profit.
      God Bless,

The Floyd Rose 1000 and Special are NOT the same thing. The 1000 is an all steel, high quality OEM tremolo that is built to the same specifications as the German unit. The Special uses cast saddles and block to lower the cost. This will effect the sound. I had already added this guitar to my Thomann shopping cart last year when I realised that the Floyd Rose wasn't a FR-1000. When I chatted with Thomann, the dude told me that some guitars came with the 1000 model and some came with the Special. When I asked whether Thomann could make sure that they send me one with a FR-1000, he said 'NO'. So I deleted the order. In most western countries, including Germany, this is called false advertising. It is fraud when you advertise something but you get something different or of less value. The logic that the guitar only cost X dollars doesn't fly as German law forbids conduct such as Thomann's. Thomann have had six months time to update their website to say that you might get this tremolo but you might get that one. I'm sure the guitar's great but I don't buy off 'Schlitzohren'. And by the way, when I worked in Germany for an international music supplier, we'd pay US $20 FOB for a Strat copy all the way to $45 for an amazing Korean made guitar with Floyd Rose or Wilkinson tremolo. Thomann are making a lot of money with these guitars because they pay the poor Chinese, Vietnamese and Indonesians very little. So, if Thomann were to advertise a genuine Porsche 911 for US $9.99, I expect a genuine Porsche and not a blow-up doll or 'Lustgrotte'

I think your picking nits here. If your "budget" doesn't have enough money to buy a guitar of this price, then you're not really a guitar buyer, you're a non-buyer. It'd be like saying "Oh, I'm a Ferrari shopper on a budget" & then your budget is $5? You're not a Ferrari buyer, your just playing a game or fooling yourself at that point. For what are considered "budget" guitars, Chibson, Firefly, low-end Epiphones, low-end LTDs, Agile, this Harley Benton is phenomenal. Could you buy a cheaper guitar? Maybe, but at a certain point it's just not worth it. You're buying not buying a guitar, you're buying firewood. The fretboard is good. The P/Us are good. The machine head tuners are great. The nut is good. The bridge is good. The fit & finish are awesome. It plays well. This is a spectacular value. You can't go into a guitar store & buy a new guitar as good as this at this price. I've tried & failed. Certainly Epiphones near this price range aren't even close. The Epiphone frets will cut your fingers. The setup will be bad. The fretboard will wave like the ocean. It'll look bad, sound bad, play bad, & it'll hurt while doing it. I don't work for Thomann, but I bought one of these. I own many guitars. I tried to buy myself a cheap Christmas gift, went into the store INTENT on walking out with a new guitar and didn't. I played the guitars near this price range (everything was a little higher) and they were awful. The biggest downside I see to playing this is your friends will say "Oh, what is that? Harley Benton? Never heard of them." They see a Gibson or an Epiphone and they know those names. As an experienced guitarist, I'd rather play this and have to explain the name than an Epiphone & not have to explain because Epiphone won't' be as good. I've played the new Epiphones & used ones. I'd rather play this, & I don't even really like Thomann & I don't work for them.

It's just unbelievable that a Floyd Rose 1000 was installed on a guitar at this price point. If someone doesn't believe me, go on Sweetwater, find any guitar that has a floating trem and cost between 600-1000 bucks and you have a 70% chance that it is equipped with the Floyd Rose Special which is NOT on par with a 1000 series.

I am considering getting a Floyd Rose guitar soon. I am debating between this one, the Kramer Assault 220, or the Jackson JS32. The Kramer and Jackson both come with licensed Floyd Roses, while this should come with a Floyd Rose 1000. From what I've read, the Floyd Rose 1000 should be better than most licensed Floyd Roses, but the original Floyd Rose will still be better than the 1000? Is this Floyd Rose 1000 still pretty durable, though? Also, according to Floyd Rose's site, most of their models are swappable with each other - does that mean at least one advantage of the Floyd Rose 1000 is that, if/when it eventually wears out, I could then have it replaced with a sturdier original Floyd Rose pretty easily? Thanks!

Vielen Danke! Just subscribed. I received this guitar the day you posted the video 1/6/20. My reactions: I'm equally in awe. I am new to Floyds so learning to tune down is humorous - to unlock the nut or to not unlock the nut?!
I'm curious if you liked the action out of box; I'm unsure if it's low enough as I'm also new to LP style and scale (is this LP scale length still with all these frets?).
I was surprised how much I could turn the fine tuners without changing the note at all, but they are fine tuners of course, and I wouldn't know.
I'm hoping I can tune to drop D without loosening the nut or at least not adjusting the trem screws in the back each time; if I cannot I may opt to keep it in E flat if this means the fine tuners can reach D okay without these adjustments since I like E flat a lot and can keep other guitars in standard, but I need to learn to get quick with these things anyway.
The G string is not set in place on the bridge but tightly caught on the metal edge up and off to the side and this leaves a wider gap between G and B strings than intended, easy mistake to make and overlook, so I'll have to unlock the nut and the string may be damaged if I want to fix that before the first restring but due to the FR it does not sound different and I don't care since I'll restring before long. On the whole a big unforeseen kiss on the forehead from Germany and Vietnam.
How odd it is we both apparently come from southern families with accents and you're actually in Germany, just received the same unusual and unique guitar from the same German company, while I'm studying the German language full time right now. How bizarrely small the world has become!
I really appreciate your videos on Harley Benton. I had the same doubts and the same totally changed mind, and am very curious now about their T styles and Strats and which is best to try. I wish there were more colors, but the new Fusion series ST and T styles with the roasted maple necks have me most intrigued at the moment. The T style Pro series Fusions with roasted maple necks are so new there's few reviews of them. I cannot decide if their more traditional ST and T styles are more for me or not - undecided about the nontraditional bridges and pickup configurations in the Fusions, and whether or not I can get a real strat and tele sound out of them as well as the humbucking shred machine stuff the models are geared towards, and can't seem to find an ideal color in any T style Benton models yet so the natural wood finishes appeal most. Auf Wiedersehen

Once your floyd is set up to a tuning, like standard or a drop d tuning, you have to leave it. If you want to change a tuning, you'd have to readjust everything, like the bridge. Same with changing tuning on just 1 string. Floyds are floating trems, so they set from spring tension. The bridge has to be flush with the body. You set up your rose, adjust string height at the bridge posts, set intonation, bridge flush with the body, tune it, lock it, use the fine tuners to get it perfect, and leave it. The tension when it's set up has to stay the same. If you change gauges, you have to readjust everything. Same with if you change a tuning. This is because any changes throws the tension off. If the tension changes even in the slightest, it affects intonation, and most importantly tuning stability, which is the main purpose of floyd roses, locking nuts, and fine tuners. When it's set up proper, it should/will stay in tune for weeks and weeks, or until string change. If it does not stay in tune, it needs to be set up properly until it will. When you change strings, you have change one string at a time, to keep the tension together. The tension for a floating bridge is important, and is what makes it a floyd. Trust me, it took me weeks and weeks to figure it out and get it right when I replaced the old defective floyd bridge on my 97 Korean Pro Tone. Had to do a complete setup from step 1. The setup can be challenging, and ghanging strings can be a pain, but it's worth it if you want a killer trem that keeps in tune forever, even with whammy bar abuse.

But for the prices these Harleys are great beginner and intermediate guitars possibly matching and surpassing the other Indo/China brands for value.
