That purple is pretty bad ass.. just say fuck it and release them all.. and make a signature 7 string i think its time for it to happen.. with a tele body.. ill even buy it if it's that god awful shell pink lol..
The biggest problem until the 2020 Epiphone range and now these Harley Bentons was they didn’t come with the maple cap. I bought Gibson and Gibson Custom Shop because I wanted the traditional Les Paul build specs. Now I have the 1 Gibson Studio and 2 2021 Epiphone Studio models. I just put the pickups in I want and it’s great.
Amps and speakers to me are more important to me. Even tho I build my own guitars for myself, I do have one old Epiphone that I modded that I love and was made to sound like a monster.
I was going to pick one of these up around Christmas, but it was rather predictably sold out. Ended up getting a Tube 15, which is still brilliant. Also, the subtle sneak in of the Halo theme at 3:15...very nice!
Totally scared the $#*t out of me with "Let's take a closer look" and BOOM! demo track. Caught me off guard but got my attention, awesome track, Hunter! \m/
@Agufish 8:44 it's a long tenon you have there.... Short tenon stops before the fretboard, tradition tenon is like 1cm after the fret board, a long tenon extends to around 2/3 under the neck pickup cavity 8:51, and it's a nice large one not reduced or anything and the gap between the tenon and body isn't crazy wide
I'm glad I'm not the only confused one. I will however add that although I'd too call this a long tenon, technically it probably isn't. The 'tenon' here seems to be full width of the neck, similar to how PRS fit their necks, making this more of a dovetail by definition and what think that's how PRS refer to it. But it's hard to see by that shot.
Yeah, shipping costs are still definitely more expensive than in the "precendented times", but you kind of have to keep checking since rates fluctuate almost on the daily lol
Suprised you didn't get the purple... Red looks nice, Id like to try out the light blue. How would these compare to a LTD EC, as in which model would be closest?
EDIT: I forgot the 400 series exists. Probably that with stainless steel frets. Original comment: The EC1000 in terms of the jumbo stainless steel frets and build quality, seeing as they're made in the same factory (the Indonesian ones, at least). In years past, it would have been EC-256. LTD is known for being crazy good when it comes to consistency, though, whereas on these non-specialty models, HB sometimes has things slip through the cracks!
@@agufish I know new budget guitars have some specs equal to guitars 2 or 3 times the cost, but let's see these guitars in 10 years, compared to lets say ltd or shecter. My point is - you get specs in a guitar that won't stand the test of time as the already established manufacturers do. Just my opinion.
after owning vs6 (sg version) for 5 or 6 years great guitar for money but the bridge after some time can have problems with keeping all frets in tune so i'm gonna replace it. next neck is fat but comfortable fretwork and frets are good. tuners are quality and i don't think i need to replace them and pickups sounds fine if you like PAFs sound :D
Out of HBs current single cut lineup to me the best one is the SC Gotoh. Especially in Palham blue. I've been seriously thinking about getting one and swapping in either Bareknuclle Rags or Dimarzio Dreamcatcher/rain maker.
SC Custom has a thinner body with a belly cut, so not full LP thickness, in approximation of a eclipse single cut, and the same control layout as a esp/ltd (two volume one tone). Custom plus is the one with emgs innit? So it has emgs retroactive instead of the Teslas of the SC 550 II.
New signature color preference? I think white (it looks like white--may be pink?!?) is my first choice, followed by the the red. A lot of (IMHO) brand name snobs in the industry always throw Harley Benton models a lot of shade (Boomers like me read that as a lot of horseshit) but Thomann keeps selling out models and people are happy with them. Sure I own a Gibson Les Paul and a couple of Epiphone Les Pauls. But I own 7 Harley Bentons, each a different model, all bought new and they all are great guitars. All of them needed a setup and fret leveling (the only guitar I have EVER seen that didn't need to have frets leveled is the Gibson--because they PLEK all their guitars to stop customer complaints (not my words--Gibson stated this as fact some time ago). But YOU still have to polish the frets. You can always spend $200 and have your Harley Benton PLEK'd to the same level as a Gibson. My SC-550 had the 1st generation Roswell pups and they were good but not great. Iron Gear Rolling Mill pups fixed that. Thanks, Hunter. Cheers.
Absolutely, it is a cool budget guitar. I'm an old thrasher and I'm still a Jackson man but heck yes, that's cool guitar. I just bought a Jackson Dinky for $187.00 ordered at guitar center and I can't believe it's manufactured in China but the quality is phenomenal. Cool video though.
That's good to hear, after this one the next will be a cheap Randy Rhoads Jackson. I always wanted one but I thought they only made the ones for 2 grand and more. I had no idea Jackson made cheap guitars. Obviously gonna stick proper PUs in both. After I found out about the cheap RRs I was delighted to read many people considered them very well made and good guitars.
Personally, in this price range, 300-400€, I would get the Ltd Ec-256. The main reason behind this choice is that I own one for almost 3 years now, and she didn't disappoint me in this journey. I changed the pickups in December, with a pair of Emg 81-85, and she became a f*cking metal machine.
I would love to like these HB singlecuts, but the shape is just too ugly for me. Thankfully I can get a Tokai or Grass Roots for not that much more and get pretty much a Gibson clone. The HB double cut jr.s look really nice though.
i have it and this is now 3rd year and it's one of my favorite guitars and i have 9 others guitars, Ibanez, Fender Strat and Tele, PRS, Solar. But this is my top 3
It's a great guitar for the money. However, my favourite SC from the current HB lineup is the new DLX Gotoh-series. Just gut myself a Pelham Blue one and it is absolutely killer.
Ok, so I'm just gonna go ahead and say it.. I LIKE the Harley Benton headstock shape. IMO it's the best looking 3x3 going right now next to the one that gets you sued if your name doesn't begin with a G, end with N, and have I B S and O in between.
I have this exact same guitar and really like it. I found it necessary to change out the tuners though, as the ones it comes with seemed to "jump" and were not easy to accurately tune. Otherwise, great guitar!
Great demo as always, fish!!!I'd love to know more about how we sell recreates fret nibs by making paste and adding it to the guitar like he did on your Gibson black beauty he redid.🤘
I'd love to have a Sc-custom Vintage Black with SS frets. I do have the older one with nickel frets, swapped in some Emgs and it's really a budget EC-1000 IMO just needs some locking tuners but the grovers are great too. UUUH and the colors of your new signature: Red and purple for me please. I would not go with the pastels...just MO
Personally i would like a modern look sc550. Somewhat in the direction of the Epiphone prophecies. red flame with black outline fade. Maybe mat black hardwear ? Just something really different. Maybe even some weird ass colours like we know from chapman.
I like the look of the finish, but the body shape looks squished on top. I think Harley Benton needs to do more with their Jazzmaster esque shape, wby?
I absolutely love Harley Benton. I own a paisley t style and the Amarock Baritone. If nothing else it's a hell of an excuse to buy 3 guitars at once for the sake of saving on shipping and import fees lol
Do you think shipping prices will come down once we are out of this pandemic? It's hard to purchase an instrument when the shipping costs almost a third of the price of the guitar.
They will definitely come down. A big reason they're so high right now is because there are fewer commercial flights from EU to the US and vice versa. Storage on commercial flights actually makes for a fairly large percentage of international freight capacity. Fewer flights means lower capacity... and shipping companies are raising prices to ridiculous levels to keep the current strain on supply chain manageable.
I like the purple - and if you're going for a signature then that's fine. Otherwise - the blue on the left is nice - there are enough red guitars out there. With the pastels - the darker blue is better and I feel that the pink is not pink enough. If you're going to go there - go there, if you understand what I mean.
Man india needs some Harley Benton, fire fly and sire guitar for budget, the closest thing we have to good budget is either gio or cort, but variety are quite dire
I was gonna buy the SC dlx in shell pink but if theres an agufish model on the way, well I'll wait. The colours of the headstocks look real nice blue and pink are my favorites. Maybe a sprakle finished or an aged goldtop like the ltd's...
Excellent and accurate presentation! It is interesting that you analyze to the point that you ve mentioned the short tenon of the neck! I would like to ask you if it is the same short tenon on the Harley Benton SC-Custom Plus EMG FR VBK, or is it longer. In case you know. Thank you anyway
Man I was looking at this SC guitars and I discovered your signature one. I'm going to buy one when it's available. Any idea of when it would be? Cheers!
Hi Hunter , i'm happy to see tesla pickups on hb guitars ! Tesla pickups are more quality than roswell , better sound ,better quality fabrication less noisy and muddy ! it's a total upgrade for me ! stainless frets is a very good update too ! for me the best update are the pickups ! thanks for the video .
Hello my friend, excellent video, well, a question, I want to buy my second Harley Benton and well, I want to know which is better and more versatile, the cst-24t or this guitar, the sc 550 II. I await your comment, thank you
This or the new Epiphone Les Paul classic? I know the Epiphone is $500 but curious what I'm getting extra on the epi and what I'm missing out on the HB and whether the Epiphone is worth the extra 150 dollars
Was surprised by the Slayer in the sound samples. I know you like thrash but I've never seen you play much Slayer. Also I would prefer if a proper sound sample section came back. I like hearing the pickups raw.
Dude, my birthday is coming up on the 3rd next month, if you somehow could sneak your purple sig my way, I'd be the happiest lad ever 😁For real though, are they gonna be limited? And is the quality consistent enough to not worry about a dud arriving?
either LTD needs to implement stainless steel frets, pau ferro and coil split to their purple budget LP or Harley Benton needs to make a SC Custom or 550 version in purple.
actually, LTD has in their Ec-256, coil split and Pau Ferro fretboards. Unfortunately, there are no SS frets, but I can assure you that a 256 is one of the best choices in the 300-400€ price range
Serious question, though: how about those new signature colors at the end... which is your favorite?? :D
That purple!!!
Honestly, not enough purple guitars on the market
Love all the sand blasted and mayb3 the pink one if it were less whity
First 3 look nice, "true" purple one is instant buy for me if you keep neck shape and scale length from original. Last 3 look ugly to me.
That purple is pretty bad ass.. just say fuck it and release them all.. and make a signature 7 string i think its time for it to happen.. with a tele body.. ill even buy it if it's that god awful shell pink lol..

Yeah, shipping costs are still definitely more expensive than in the "precendented times", but you kind of have to keep checking since rates fluctuate almost on the daily lol
I paid $375 shipped to AZ with gigbag
Thank god I am German. 🫡✌️😂
Hunter out here dropping teasers on Agusig 2.0 and acting like nobody just got EXCITED.

I vote for Agufish signature 7 string tele !!!
A little confused about the neck tennon, the tongue makes it look like a long neck tennon to me.
I always think I’m in on the videos first…To find out 142 views later 😂 awesome content brother!

Very nice! I know some will love it and enjoy the differences 🤘🔥🔥🤘
Very nice guitar...for that unbelieveable price and quality!!!!!!!!!
THOMANN/HARLEY BENTON rules. 😎
What are the main differences between this model and the SC Custom Plus? I’m still torn between the two

Violet, blu or denim the others are too close to the other color
Pretty cool guitar for the costs. The one thing that turns me off is the weight relief. My personal taste. But this a good deal for sure.

'Budget' has definitely changed meaning over the last ten years.
either LTD needs to implement stainless steel frets, pau ferro and coil split to their purple budget LP or Harley Benton needs to make a SC Custom or 550 version in purple.
actually, LTD has in their Ec-256, coil split and Pau Ferro fretboards. Unfortunately, there are no SS frets, but I can assure you that a 256 is one of the best choices in the 300-400€ price range
@@victor4425 at thomann the data sheet says jatoba fretboard. but with coil split you are right.
@@omgnerv oh, yeah, you're right, Pau Ferro is on the 400 series.
It's listed with a Meranti body now.
I still maintain that my pink grassroots lpc is the best budget single cut
Income tax season needs to speed up bcuz i need one 😅😅😅🎸🎸🎸
Hunter: Goes on and on about how the SS frets don't suit the guitar.
Also Hunter: But I am not complaining. lol
Looks like it's time to sell my old SC550 amber to buy this thing
Playing wise, does it feel close to an LTD or an Epiphone? I have been seriously looking at getting one of these.
Hey agufish how about your signature model? Is it going to be available again?
World Music makes the PRS SE I believe
I think that Harley Benton is giving Hunter Slayer vibes cuz he keeps playing South of Heaven
Any way to get these in the states without having to deal with US customs??
That shell pink !!! Shell pink!!! Pleasseee shell pink
Hey Hunter, are those frets bigger than the ones on the Fusion? Thanks in advance!
