I lived in Kalamazoo, I owned two Heritage single cuts and I've toured the facility (pre-covid you could sign up for a tour on the floor on Wednesdays). I love the guitars and the people who make them. Such a great instrument!!!
I have a Heritage 140M that I bought new in 1989. It's black with ivory binding. I have had many guitars come and go since then, but this guitar will never be sold. I took a friend of mine who was a much better guitarist than me at the time when I was shopping for this guitar. He played it and told me...buy this now! He liked it so much he traded in his Les Paul the next day for an H-150.
Nice! I bet it looks killer now, too, now it's had time to age a bit. Never got the whole "Standard" vibe until this guitar. Holy crap, Heritage makes a good guitar!
Great guitar, great video. I have an H-150 artisan aged cherry burst and it is AWESOME. I've played both Eastmans (SB-59 + SB-57) and traditional Les Pauls before thinking that i wanted a single cut, but never felt right with those guitars. Picked up the H-150 and loved it. It's is a great instrument and definitely makes me understand the whole "I love singlecut" mindset. Also full support to everyone who still wants a Les Paul instead, play what feels right to you.
Exactly. They all have slightly different feels, and are all great in their own ways. The Eastman especially has a different soft V neck shape and an ebony fingerboard so that’s in a completely different category IMO.
I'll point out that if they used filler with the inlays, that tells you that they didn't do it with a CNC, they did them by hand. The only reason you can buy guitars with fancy inlays and binding is because they can knock a shitload of them out on CNCs. As for binding; they route the shape of the body into the blank and route the top ⅛" a little wider, then pour molten plastic into it, cut out the rest and it leaves the "binding." If they still had to run the binding by hand, there's no way you'd find it in $500 guitars.
I got one just like that this summer. Hope I never let that guitar go. One cool thing about them is you can usually find great deals on used models. I bought mine for 1500 in mint condition

Head over to „EytschPi42“. Henning did a full shootout between the H150 Standard, H150 Custom-Core, Eastman SB59, Maybach Lester 59 and the FGN Expert Flame.
Didn't they change ownership and cleared up a lot of employees like 5 years ago? I played a couple of these at Guitar Center (used) and they were ok, I thought they were right there at the Gibson USA level. Heritage sure uses the Parsons Street building angle, in reality while a handful of those guys may have been around in '59 the majority of the employees that started Heritage in the early 80's would have been building Norlin era guitars no? I think they are nice guitars but for me personally I don't see the attraction over a Gibson. A lot of people do not like the headstock but to me it is a thousand times better looking than a PRS headstock.
I think all styles of guitar playing are great...except for anything MGK plays! Also single cuts are my favorite. I made a black cherry burst single cut and it looks badass!
The Headstock has kept me away from them as well. They really should just use the custom core headstock and get rid of "The" Heritage - First day in woodshop comment was spot on.
I agree. They are priced right at the Gibson LP standard price point. Plus good luck finding a retailer where you could play one. IMO Gibson is just more available to try out a find. I’ll stick with Gibson
I‘ve had two Gibsons. Never again. Oh and The Heritage is way cheaper than Gibson. Gibson‘s single piece body guitars won‘t start under 5.000 bucks. What you get from Gibson for the same price of the Heritage is considerably less in terms of guitar.
What, you like single cut guitars, NNNNOOOOOOOO. I would never have guessed. 🤣 Seriously though it is a very nice high quality guitar. Myself, I don’t like the pickguard so I would remove that otherwise I really like it too.
What's not to like about it, really? Tell ya what though, that pickguard... I'm really diggin' it! Also, I had better like those Sennheiser headphones, or you'll be hearing from me!
"What's not to like about it, really? " = Price and re-sale value? At $2.5K entry price you are in Gibson Standard territory, but with Gibson you can get most of your money back if you decide to re-sell it. Not sure how much you can sell your $2.5-4.0K Heritage for.
@@flowryan5829 I heard them in a blind shootout. Gibson-Heritage-Maybach and was immediately attracted to the extra thick, rich tones of the Maybach. If I could afford one, I'd scoop it up in a heartbeat!!

That's a great sounding guitar man
Man, just shorten the headstock this be a slam dunk guitar to buy
If only Heritage made Firebirds, Explorers, and SGs...
Went by they're shop wanted to apply 4a job live in Michigan wife talked me out of it long drive still a dream 👍
The Headstock has kept me away from them as well. They really should just use the custom core headstock and get rid of "The" Heritage - First day in woodshop comment was spot on.
That headstock is so ugly...
Agreed… like Epiphone, can they please give it a facelift???
If they were cheaper than Gibson than they would be worth it. But very little brand value hurts them against gibson
The top is gorgeous
I have one of their 535s in pelham blue. Easily rivals gibson quality for less money
@@williamtm1965 Even if I had a million dollars I would not buy Gibson, but you do raise a good point!
Maybach guitars look like a cool LP alternative as well. The headstock is pretty bad but WTF is up with the truss rod cover?!
I currently own three Maybach Lester 59. They‘re stupidly good.
I can second Ryan. I've had 2 Maybach Lesters. They were amazingly good.
@@flowryan5829 I heard them in a blind shootout. Gibson-Heritage-Maybach and was immediately attracted to the extra thick, rich tones of the Maybach. If I could afford one, I'd scoop it up in a heartbeat!!
@@michaelgriffin5304 go for the used market. There are some cheaper ones to find. Source: Dude, trust me.
@@flowryan5829 Cheap is a relative term and I just spent my extra cash on a custom build from Lacello guitars :P Too good to pass up!
