2000 likes and I’ll mod this guitar into an absolute chug monster and then give it away! And today's the last day to get your "Right Pringle" merch for Christmas! 🐶 agufish.myshopify.com
Thanks Hunter, this and Ola are my fave channels!!!👍🤘
I love these guitars and actually modified the same one adding a EMG Jim Root set and baritone fender neck and locking tuners and some asshole stole it 🤬 I hope you get the 2000 likes I would love a chance to win it. Love the videos keep up the chugs!!!
whats the string wrap you use on the headstock? Can't seem to find any small ones like the one you use here.
@@nathanfondie4706 man, that sucks
If I didn’t buy a Toronado and mod it already this would be an OBVIOUS purchase
Basically any modern Squier Affinity I've picked up lately has been just spectacular. I'm gonna pick up an Affinity Jazzmaster in Burgundy Mist cause I want a JM and like, it feels perfect. I'm absolutely stunned in the best way by these and it feels like the quality of the child brands are putting the parent companies on notice - we're good too, so don't slack on the big boy end.
Gotta disagree. The naked maple fretboards on the Affinitys in the last few years feel cheap. Like, really cheap.
6:23 Never made it as a wise man
Tele's need a single coil somewhere imo. Even a coil split would've been great. Still an awesome guitar! And it's really nice seeing such high quality for people on a tight budget. They deserve great instruments too!
At least I'm not the only one who caught that reference lol
Lol thats what i was thinking too
8:51 I dunno if it's just me, but I actually prefer the Tele headstock on the Deluxe. Just looks more natural to me
The sideways selector actually makes sense for a beginner guitar, the switch points to which pickup you're using. You lose a bit of playability not being able to easily flick it in strumming motion, but the intuitiveness might be more beneficial to a new player.
I actually picked up a squier affinity jazzmaster with dual humbuckers and a hardtail bridge. Swapped all the chrome hardware with black, threw in an EMG 81/60 combo and made my own jim root model and i LOVE it
Oh thats sick man! 😁 must be like 5 times cheaper too. The jazzmaster jim root model just keeps getting more expensive man.
I have that guitar and I love it, gonna put in some chrome Seymour Duncans in there at some point.
It's still weird hearing any Tele referred to as a chug machine, but it's super exciting! I love seeing "traditional" guitars used for decidedly non-"traditional" genres. I'm trying to decide between this and the Contemporary. Shoot out?
It's my favorite thing to take "traditional" guitars and modify them with hotter pickups for "non traditional" genres. So chucking super hot pickups in a Strat or a Tele and running the result through a Dual Rectifier
My stock classic vibe 50's squier telecaster is such a chug machine on the bridge pickup
I’d go contemporary.
Good idea....use AK47 at 200 yards and see which one survives. Very metal solution to guitar picks.
@@whyuyellinginmyear3476 oh don't be ridiculous. A 9mm would be more than sufficient lol
I am a big Squier fan. Great guitars to build on.
What Squier has done in recent years has been truly impressive compared to the guitars that came out in the mid 90’s when I was growing up.
Squier NC's from 1994 to 1997 were amazing guitars.
Yeah, I loved my Squier when I got it back in 99, but after about a year, I'd outgrown it and needed something better.
I've still got an incredible Squier Strat from Jan 1990, which is when they moved from Japan to Korea. It's Japanese parts, assembled in Korea with an original quartersawn neck. One of the best playing and sounding guitars I own. The pickups are slightly wider than standard, so I've never bothered to swap them out.
Needs a refret now, so It's been sitting in the case for many years. Maybe one day I'll get around to fixing it up again, but I'm a lazy bastard with too many guitars.
You should get the affinity bronco and make the prs 4 string metal machine they just teased!
Hunter,,,,,,,apparently there are over 90 current models of Fender Strat.....?
........the video guitar sounds very good.....Right.
thanks for sharing and festive wishes
V.
Buckers and witchhat knobs.Hell yes!!!🤘👍
Good to hear the H&K Triamp mk3 with something else than the Hello Kitty guitar,,,, More, more.
I love these new Affinities.
I like this song, I liked doing this mix : )
I fist pumped the air when Hunter sent my favorite of his demo songs lol
I'm not sure if it's because reputation, but I've got some bad ass tones out of the single coil tele. I've only just started to have a love for the tele and started a tele kit, that I've modded with an esp style recessed heel.
Mother of all guitar gods..that test singing the intro was so GORGEOUS
Literally made me buy this guitar. Haven’t played in 2 years…I’ve always wanted a shred tell
I have a vintage modified Telecaster deluxe from 2015 made in Indonesia. I have started my own mods on. I have added locking tuners and roller string trees. This has added better tuning stability to the instrument. I am currently changing the pots to CTS. I love the feel and tone of this guitar. it is one of my go to guitars. I have higher end guitars that I don't like as much.
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Squier is killing it. I finally bought a strat after 16 years of playing. Wanted that classic strat wail their known for. Who would have thought a Squier 60s classic vibe would absolutely blow me away. The quality for the price point is shockingly good and it sounds fantastic! I
Nice demo. I agree totally about Indian Laurel. I’ve got a Breedlove acoustic with a Laurel fretboard and not only does it look fantastic, but it feels so good to play - I actually prefer it to rosewood or maple, and I don’t know why it isn’t used on higher-end guitars much.
I've been playing this exact one a lot when I go to my local shop. I really want to pick one up and install a baritone neck.
Now I just might have to do that
While not my first guitar, the first guitar I ever got to pick out myself was a Squier Affinity Jazzmaster HH. I love that guitar, and if I ever got my own signature guitar, I would base it off that one (more looks than specwise, but I love the neck shape). Next time I go to a guitar store I gotta try one of these new ones out, cause it took my favorite affinity off the shelves. I wanna see if they do it justice. Great video as always, love ur channel bro, keep it up!
I've got a lot of high end gear at home. PRS, Fender Custom Shop, Gibson etc.... the newer Squier line ups have been extremely impressive for the price. These are not the same as the old Squier. Modern manufacturing techniques are closing the gap. These affordable guitars are getting better and better with each iteration. I'd have no problem having a Classic Vibe Tele as a backup to my higher end Teles
I have one of those. Mine is burgundy mist which I regret. I much prefer the charcoal frost color. I don't quite like it as much as my single-coil guitars, but I bought it to give me an alternative to the single-coil sound, and for the purpose it works well. I like the fact that it plays and feels exactly like my other telecaster, so it's immediately comfortable to play, except for the Gibsonesque controls. I'd much rather have standard tele controls. The (completely unnecessary) skunk stripe on my Affinity Telecaster Deluxe is perfectly fitted, but not so much the (also completely unnecessary) skunk stripe of my FMT Affinity Strat. On that guitar there's a tiny hole at the end of the skunk stripe where it doesn't quite fill the cavity, and little raised edges along the side of the skunk stripe, which may just be glue. A little sanding might take care of that. It's not an issue in playing, but it does speak, I suppose, to the fact these are not expensive instruments. I also like the fact that these new Affinities don't have "Affinity" stamped on the headstock. They look just like the Classic Vibe guitars, apart from the fact they don't have the sticky finish on the neck. I have no intent to upgrade the pickups on my Telecaster Deluxe, just because ultimately I prefer the single-coil Telecaster sound. I might look into getting the body painted a different color. I saw a retro Fender at the guitar store the other day, with a lightly distressed body, which was standard Tele except for a humbucker in the neck position, and I drooled. It wasn't outrageously expensive either, which probably points to a an oriental origin, even though the headstock logo was Fender.
It seems that we will see a new high-integrity project, coming soon.
I’m buying one, I love Teles
Being outside the US I know I wouldn't win the giveaway, but have a like anyway so that someone can win one your fun as hell mod projects!
I definitely love my fender Deluxe .
Imagine this thing with emgs
This is actually closer to the Squier Telecaster Custom which was part of the Modified Vintage range about 20 years ago(!) There were two versions: one with humbuckers, the second with P90s.
I might get one of these to have a guitar that’s actually fully put together, and because it’s the only tele I like the looks of. Would probably eventually put an invader or something in the bridge and a SD jazz in the neck.
I have two of these. They're great-sounding guitars for heavy rock sounds. One one of them, I've had a lot of trouble intoning the low E to not play sharp on the G note with an open G chord. It's not the cut of the nut. I have other Squiers (Teles) where this is not a problem, so it's not the "cheapness" of the guitar. I've tried everything. I just have to use a feather touch on the note, which I really would rather not do.
Because of the tummy cut or whatever it's called, the body is extremely light, which causes serious neck dive, so keep that in mind.
Overall, both guitars are holding up well and having no problems with electronics. This video says they're $200. Actually they're $279 right now at Sweetwater. They're worth it. Both of mine are Burgundy Mist, and it's not a very exciting color. None of the Deluxes have great colors in my opinion. But if you're on the fence, get off it and buy one from Sweetwater.
I gotta say I ordered one of these based on hearing similar praise in other reviews . This is exactly how I wanted a Tele configuration with the proper headstock. I had it out of the box 10 minutes and i was shocked how bad it was. The fretwork was horrible, the neck wood felt exactly like the cheap pine. The skunk strip was raised as you point out, the tuners were loose , the switch was loose , tone knob was crooked ... I could go on. It went back the next day. So disappointed. Overall it felt like a toy. Just wanted to say that if you're planing on getting one of these, lower your expectations because they are not even in the same league as the guitar you can buy for another 150.
This has been my experience with most Squiers.
I'm not sure it's fair to expect much more at this price point. I had most of the same issues. I sanded the back of the neck to fix the skunk.
I've got one, and it's a really good guitar, I've been playing 55 years, I also have a Fender player strat, which is only slightly better. You must have been unlucky.
Just ordered one.
Not my favorite colors but it was on sale and the last one.
Blues should sound good on this guitar
Honestly those pickups sound pretty frickin good
Ooooo! Yes please, in response 2 your offer of giving it 2 me....
Poplar is a great wood for guitars, its just not fancy. Its light soft, warm and resonant! Poplar body with a great neck and good pickups is majic,
I just took delivery of a Squier Jaguar that, other than some sharp fret edges just floored me. I like it so much I just ordered a Squier Affinity Jazzmaster because... well, because i don't have anything in blue.
And if you’re a lefty…have fun in the mod shop paying 2k instead of $250.
I hate my life…lol.
Switch to right handed we got like too many guitars over here
@@Ottophil Easier said than done
@@8YoungNastyman8 i know plenty who have done it. Its possible, if you try hard enough, the right handed world is yours
@@Ottophil Honestly, I’m going to switch, and not just because the lack of lefty guitars. I’m a beginner for one thing, so nothing feels exactly comfortable at this point. But mainly it’s that the only thing I’m left handed at is writing throwing a baseball. Everything else I do right handed. And when I used to play guitar hero, I played it right handed. And yes I know it’s nothing close to the same thing. But I know I was able to time things fine and stuff like that playing right handed.
I just think right now I could learn earthed way and it won’t feel strange to me. So I am gonna try that! I’ve been thinking about this comment the last few days even. So thanks for your suggestion! I’m actually gonna follow it! 👍
I bought one got it professionally set up and actually I put 9’s on it. Plays like butter and yes the strip is also not flush.
My first guitar 🎸 is an affinity Jazzmaster and I love it, it burgundy mist and I painted the pickgaurd black.
Grabbed a Jazzmaster Affinity from the latest range for about $200 and I've been super impressed! It plays super well, sounds great and overall just amazing value. I've been wanting a Jazzmaster for years but as a more modern metal player I've never been too keen on the offerings so incredibly happy with the purchase.
Damn you are seriously metal, I'd love to hear more of your music, I hope I can find some on your channel...
Dual humbucker tele is something I've always wanted
im glad this is string through, affinity teles used to be strung through the top. it's why i bought a bullet tele instead back in the day.
Some say he's on the edge of a breakthrough proving Burning Man started as a fraternity prank, and the recent decline in output at JPL comes from insufficient djnet and chug (more likely JPL's decline is due to too many mangers and not enough mad scientists tomcatting for well-proportioned tail, but I digress.) And the conspiracy theories about his pentatonic activities are still disputed in certain circles because his girlfriends will not confirm his foreplay methods, but she does prefer to drive so his left hand is free on long trips. The man! The Legend! Der Fish!
It sure seemed to handle that C tuning super well. Or, did you use a pitch shifter?
I think he used the Drop by Digitech, but I’d assume a set of 11-54s and maybe some lubricant in the nut (lol) would make it stay even in drop c!
I used to have a Squire bullet tele that I used in Drop F#, I’d say this could handle Drop C lmao
AGUFISH, I KNOW YOU HAVE YOUR PULL!!!!! I would love for Harley Benton to drop a tele deluxe. I need it.
God damn we need to hit the ‘like count’ - would love to see this bad boy with an emg 81-60 and black hardware!
Skunk stripes are not required if your fretboard is a separate piece, it is just causing problems on this line.
Mod project: just how hard would it be to drop wide-range humbuckers in this? I'm not suggesting it be done to this instrument, but answering the question has merit. The pickguard would have to be routed out, but does the body need to be routed out? Simple question to answer once under the hood. Furthermore, how hard would it be to put a stock Telecaster pickup in the bridge?
Questions answered, we move on.
Bridge pickup: EMG RTCX ($99)
Neck pickup: EMG 89R ($119)
Boost: EMG AB220 ($79)
Tuners: anything drop-in
Nut: Gravtech
Bridge: Fender vintage road worn ($50.91)
Pickguard: Indra Guitars Custom (Probably more than the entire guitar in its present state.)
What do you prefer between this one and the hb fusion T?
Congratulations on convincing me I need a 17th guitar. Also bonus points for that clip of the opening to the Black Stone Cherry version of Can't You See.
Fender used to do a Vintage modified Deluxe with two P90s. Be cool if that returned as a model too, or maybe mod one of these. Though I guess would be easier if popped in P90s in a humbucker sized package. Like the Tonerider ones. Kind of thinking of doing that, at least with one of the pickups, to add variety. And also because I'm short on P90 guitars (though would like one of those Epiphone Les Paul Specials later).
I just wish that Squier offered a 22 fret version of the Affinity Series Strat's and Tele's.
Mine will be at my house Friday!
Squire seems to be pretty good quality these days! I own a affinity strat and have really enjoyed it!
If they ever made that in lefty I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I've literally been asking fender for over 10 years for a tele deluxe for leftys
I got a Paranormal Toronado a few months ago and I really love it. It was kind of hard to believe it was a squier at first
Slap a Warmoth baritone neck and some Lundgren M6’s on that thing, and you’ve got a classy looking BEAST!
I just got the 2021 regular tele. Such an improvement over the previous Affinity line.
My MiL (no you can't have her) bought me the Affinity Jazzmaster in Burgundy Mist for my birthday last year. My immediate thought was: it's pretty, but it must play and sound like shite.
It doesn't, it's great and has a really interesting sound. The build is almost perfect, weight is right it even was set up perfectly to my taste. Even the neck has a slight rolled edge. Definitely going to try the Tele Deluxe...
Best, Pete.
This is essentially a Squier Chris Shifflett model! I wonder if this *could* replace production of the Squier Contemporary Telecaster HH now that the Contemporary line is focusing on the top-of-the-line RH Tele with the rail humbucker.
Ik uve done the Jim root mod, but this guitar for a cooler looking jim root tele? Would absolutely love that guitar
Not to be all well actually but your Ap2 tele deluxe is a bit of an oddball with the barrel saddles. Look at the AV2’s and they all have six saddle bridges. That’s what they had in the 70’s.
If you wanna go full Wage War, you also need to make sure the nut and machine head can accomodate a .080 string for the low F.
Awesome axe but yeah on earth is putting a sticker on the pick guard a good idea
loved the mix at the beginning
Love my Squiers. I might have to get this one!
Would love to see a Fender SubSonic Baritone Neck conversion. Planing this with my Affinity Jazzmaster
I got one of these last week and it's pretty good.
Lets see the mod video, ive been contemplating one of these since they come out for the next mod project!
Yep, confirmed. I only have the "lame" gloss black one...lol...but it still rocks, and fits right in with my other many gloss/flat black guitars :D.
Nah bro I also have a black one it looks pretty cool so it's not lame :)
@@Radi0Racc00n Right on dude. So shiny. When you look at it you're just like, "How much more black could it be???" And then you're like... "None. None more black."
@@MajorUpgrade thank you Nigel.
Probably the only Squire I'd consider buying
I think sideways pickups selector is on purpose my 62 jazzmaster is the same , I think it's so it's less likely to get flipped by accident
Played this one in the music store. Feels really nice
I've just come from watching Tele deluxe classic Vibe US v Tele classic standard US comparison vid, and this Tele Affinity sounds just as good as both n looks better than the Standard colour wise! Could be your set up though! But as they cost £350 & £700, you've convinced me to get the Affinity and save a small fortune! 👍👏🙏🤣🤣
I swear Squiers just keep getting better and better.
The funny thing is ... this was done over 10 years ago .. accept it was called the Squier Vintage Modified Telecaster Custom. I had one & it was pretty awesome !! :)
I saw the burgundy mist model at my local gtr shop a while ago, I passed on it and I'm kinda pissed at myself now lol I did buy a Squire Jaguar bass at that same shop, a couple years ago, for $200 bucks and I love it. I take it to my buddies' house sometimes and plug it into his monster rig...haha It freakin' rocks man- thumbs
Great guitar, I want one.
My first guitar was an Affinity Strat and the only thing I disliked about it was the narrow nut width which was specific to the Affinity line. That being said, while it was a negative for me, it might be a positive for others. Otherwise an excellent guitar for the price.
Edit - After looking at specs on Squier's website, the Affinity range now have 42mm nut widths.
Amazing Value. 🎉
Nissssssssssssssssssce 🍻
Squires are the best budget mod platforms out there! I needs to pick one of these up cause I don't own a tele & don't like the traditional pickup layout!
Love the vid man. There will be more than 2k likes on this vid by tomorrow.
next year i wanted to do a tele build and start it off the affinity deluxe so i can get electronics and neck figured out
I've already ordered one for my young brother. But I ordered the black one with maple fretboard... which it's obviously one of the most iconic guitars ever (not just teles...) Nobody its speaking about that one. This looks nice. But come on. You can't beat the look of a black tele deluxe.
What song is that at 3:24 ? It’s really gonna bother me because I can’t remember the name
Its a wage war song
Great demo track!
i hear "the river" by Wage War when you test the neck pickup with reverb
I played this guitar expecting to getting closer to a Squier Classic Vibe type thing. I was sadly disappointed. The knobs felt cheap, the selector switch is sideways and not up and down. The guitar felt cheap and played like it felt. With all new electronics it might be a decent guitar. I've played Harley Bentons and they're by far superior, I've played Xavier and the tele I have is far better. And I don't get paid anything to say that. They just seem to make $400 guitars for $200.
Killer axe! Classic demo track. What's not to love?
7:56 LOOK AT THIS PHOTOGRAPH
Sure that it's a modern C shaped neck? On the guitar store like Th... There saying it's just a "C" shape. BTW great review!
I got this exact guitar same finish and everything. Feels great but the pickups seem to have no output and get real muddy. I will most certainly be modding the hell out of this guitar.
did you adjust the pickup height?
Isn’t the body thinner than a fender tele ?
6:24 Nickelback.
Nice.
Duuude what a Review !
@Agufish which string dampeners are you using above the nut?
