I love my Harley Benton's. I have played for 35 years and seen a few guitars over this time. I own 4 HB's from the upper tier of their line-up. Not a peep from me on problems, tuning stability, or quality control from Thomann. The only story is, do i feel good about these guitars and enjoy the play-ability and tones i get? It has been yes for me, four times out of four.
Thomann not only has Harley Benton guitars but they have great prices on a lot of other brand name musical gear as well. I have 2 HBs, the CST-24T (PRS Looking guitar) and the Fusion-II HSS with roasted maple neck. The Fusion is amazing and was $370. The CST-24T could use new tuners, the current ones work but aren't extremely smooth, and that one was $205. I've already purchased some locking tuners from Thomann for $37 and will change those soon. I recently bought the Native Instruments (Kontrol S49 midi keyboard controller) and the (Ableton Push 2) and saved close to $200 on each and that includes the shipping price. I also recently purchased Ableton Live 10 Suite which is a $750 DAW and that only cost me $555 on Thomann. It's just a serial number and you download from Ableton directly so there's no shipping cost. Thomann isn't just great for Harley Benton guitars, check them out for other gear and you might be able to save a lot of money. Only down side is shipping from German to my area in South Florida takes about 1.5 weeks but I saved close to $600 so I'm fine with that. (fuck, I sound like a Thomann employee. LOL Oh, only other bad thing I've seen with Thomann is the boxes they ship in get the crap beaten out of them. I haven't had any issues but the boxes were cut up, half opened, and nearly destroyed.)
Dude, I just bought the cheapest Telecaster (TE20) and I was going to make it a part-caster and all I had to do was set up the intonation and it sounds great......they really are great guitars...
Wow, interesting! Bro, don't give me any ideas about a tele hahaha ....this HB has me wanting to open up the wallet big time. I'll be doing more vids on it soon, subscribe if you want =)
That's the first I've heard of a prominence for "character marks" on brand new Harley Benton guitars. They do sell some "B-stock" guitars which have slight use or very minor damage. But I took delivery of my first two Harley Benton guitars 3-days ago, and they're as close to flawless as my Ibanez, my Fender, and my Epiphone. So I'm hoping your friend was wrong, because I'll be buying more Harley Benton guitars in the future. I can't even start to explain how impressed I am. The tuners on my HB Strat are certainly below the standard of the tuners on my Fender Strat, but aside from that, I'd say the HB stands up extremely well to the Fender. In fact, in terms of playability and even tone, fit, feel, and finish, I might have to give the nod to the Harley Benton and it sells for one-quarter the price. Cutting out the middle-man just goes to show how badly and artificially the prices of most guitars are inflated. I'm an instant FAN! BRAVO Thomann! I ordered on the 9th of the month and they shipped from Germany to the U.S. and on my door step in FOUR DAYS! They arrived on the 12th of the month! I've ordered things from 100-miles away and it has taken a week or more.
The Harley Benton brand has really up their game in the past year or so. But I wouldn't call them "cheap" I would call them "inexpensive" and "high value". "Cheap' usually references poor quality which they are not. BTW I have huge nipples.
I bought two different Harley Benton Flying V's for $249 shipped to the USA. Both arrived without any damage or defects. Despite a dry fretboard, the fret work and neck on both was much better than I had expected. The only major thing I did was a slight neck adjustment on the V with a bolt on neck once it had settled into the hot/dry California weather. For the price I was going to pay for one of the lower priced Jackson V's, I got two great playable guitars to practice with.
Hello i need an advice i wanna buy a guitar and the budget just for a Harley Benton DC-580 CH or a Harley Benton ST-20HSS SBK ik they are not the best guitars but can someone tell me who is better to chose pls
I bought my first HB earlier this year and it is fantastic. Whatever experience you've had with inexpensive instruments has to be compared to what is offered today vs what it used to be. Not all of them are perfect, but it's night and day and in much higher quantities.
I’ve got many guitars from a 1965 Mosrite, a PRS core and a Taylor, several Epiphones. A custom shop Fender Strat and many others. Recently I bought 2 Harley Benton’s and they are great players.
My first guitar in 08 was a HB. Back then they sucked. So I swore to never touch one again.. A couple of month ago while busking, I met another busker who played a HB, and after we talked for a while he let me play it. I was stunned. Long story short, I now own the exact same guitar you use in the vid, and I'm happy with it
I thought so as well. Even an Ibanez for 450€ can be okish, but no way a 159€ 52 Tele copy is gonna be good. Bought it, its a good, rock solid guitar. Changed to a graphtech nut (10), put on some compensated brass saddles (20), slapped on some real Kluson Lockheads (38), some knobs (because i love it when they have "scales" on them) (3), Graphtech String Trees (11), and Harley Benton Security Locks (which are on the same level as the competition) (6!). 159 + 10 + 20 + 38 + 3 + 11 + 6 = 247€. Everything on it was just fine and the rest i didnt swapped out leaves nothing to wish for, even the pickups, which are excellent and have a loveable twang character. Had the real deal in hands just a few days ago. Nothing is better tbh. Not worse, except for tuning stability. Its SO GOOD. Was like "Yeah, aint much you can screw up here on a replica of an old model". Got the Fusion-T: Stainless steel frets, locking tuners, Veneer Top, roasted neck and fretboard - you name it. 389€. With a high-end specced guitar at this price point they surely slacked somewhere. They didnt. STUNNING guitar and playing it feels SO DAMN SMOOTH! I thought it wont make anything more playable having different frets and a roasted neck. .. Long story short: Who thinks that Harley Bentons are just expensive fire wood, is objecticely dead wrong. Depending on the model x and y could be better, but those are usually easy and cheap fixes and they are excellent modding platforms, where you dont have to swap out every single part. Its fun modding, but doesnt need any, its fun playing and the guitars always arrived without a single micro scratch. (living in germany, could blame the local delivery service for anything unusual).
Man that means a lot! I'm not the greatest guitarist but i try and I enjoy helping people find less expensive gear that has great quality. Thx brother.
It's good to know the point about them tending to come slightly blemished; that would make me more inclined to buy one of the b-stock models at a slightly lower price. If I've got something like a 50% chance of getting a blemished one, I'll just make it a 100% chance and get a discount for it. Besides, sometimes you can't even find the blemish on those "b-stock" models, which makes it maybe something like a 75-80% chance. Sounds good to me.
Well done for having the balls to admit you were wrong!! I started playing over 40 years ago and I wish we’d had Harley Benton back then! A good solid instrument at a budget price! The reason Thomann can sell them do cheaply? They buy direct from the factory and the only marketing costs are letting people demo them on RUclips. The result is that they can charge around 50% of the price of an Epiphone and are rapidly becoming a brand in their own right. I’m just about to pull the trigger on a SC-550 II A Les Paul copy with a full maple cap - not a veneer! With stainless frets and decent pickups! You may have to set it up to your personal taste but then I’ve had a Fender Custom Shop at 10 times the price and still has to set it up to my taste!! Keep up the good work I’ve just subscribed look forward to more honest reviews. Rock on Ricky!
The HBs are fun. They are amazing for the money. Ofcourse a 1000 dollar guitar will be much better, heck it should. But like any item the small changes that make it better are increasingly expensive. I have an HB SC 500, and since i'm a complete beginner its more then good enough for me. But i do reckon i would have rather spend a little extra on an SC 550 which simply is better. I expect you will be amazed about the "top range" of the harley bentons. Like the SC550, or the fusion series.
themplar FYI, I have a Gibson les Paul and an HB one. My Gibson fanatic buddy came over and did a blind play.....said the HB was better. He was so pissed.
I'm planing to order one this month, just in time for these holidays, when we'll probably be staying home. Been playing on acoustic for 10 years, got to a certain level of playing and just didn't get any better because I couldn't play the songs I liked on acoustic. From reviews, I came to the conclusion this guitar is perfect for me, cheap enough that I can buy it as a hobby and not feel like I'm throwing away money if I don't stick with it, but high quality for the price so it's not a hindrance to me wanting to play it. I originally wanted a strat type with HSS, but I like the look of this more... hopefully for rock, blues and a couple of metallica songs it'll do fine enough! Happy to see you like it, of all the videos I watched on it, no one trash talked it yet.
Bought a Harley Benton strat about a month ago. Blew me away so ordered a DC 580 which arrived today. Think you're bang on about these guitars, the quality is unbelievable for the price. Might order a telecaster next......would still have spent less than on one Epiphone or decent Squire.
I like how you hate them, but if you hate the Chinese knockoffs, HB is the answer to that. I think the Chinese counterfeits sales have dropped due to brands like HB. I still have one Chinese knockoff, only cause I was interested due to the YT guys and I was curious if I could make one really good. Which I did and I still play it often. But once HB's started getting a big push a few years ago. I appreciated what they were doing. And I bought one a PRS copy the CST-24T for under 200 bucks. Cheaper than what the Chinese Knockoffs were going for. First thing I did was treat the fretboard w/ F-one oil, that is a must I think on all of these, they're just really dry, so you're right on that for sure, and even though it came w/ D'Addario's I too, play Slinky 10's as well. Then I upgraded the pups, put in a set of locking tuners and this thing is killer. Can't go wrong w/ HB if you're willing to upgrade a few things.
Welcome to the light! Harley Bentons in general are solid. I've had mine for almost 3 months (unboxing here: ruclips.net/video/Imfl9YApk28/видео.html&t) and love it. The reason those guys have 50 Harley Bentons on the wall is because they didn't go and buy just one Gibson :)
This is what you would call an "HONEST" review and for that I appreciate it!!! But with all do respect and I truly mean with all do respect, please keep your day job!🙂
It's been an uphill battle trying to successfully order one from their website. Apparently placing an order from the US to the UK is the most complicated thing in history.
Thomann have solved the issue over ordering which was caused by BREXIT and NOT Thomann! They now have Thomann GB which has sorted out the VAT and duty issues, you now pay the advertised price! Problems solved well done Thomann
An electric guitar is an inexpensive thing. It's wood with 1930s electronics. All it takes to make good ones cheaply is an honest desire for quality and some quality control. HB is doing students and ground level performers a huge service by making decent instruments available at a low price.
I'm going to be ordering the double neck SG from Harley Benton in a week or two. I'm leaning towards the white one. I have had way too many red guitars in the last 30 years.
I played the same Epiphone the guy from TOOL plays, the limited edition! It was utter garbage, then for 200 buck cheaper I got a Squire Classic Vibe and boy was I in for a treat. I still have my Squire 50's CV and now have a new Fender Strat Roadhouse Deluxe, don't get me wrong the Fender is the best guitar I've ever played, including a 60's Gibson LP! Prices above $300-400 it is still luck that you don't buy the odd bad one. Unless it's a custom shop, the odd bad instrument will still make it past QC since it is a production line and any company only exists to make money. I'm sick of the fanboy idiots demanding everyone even thinking about playing guitar needs a $3000 guitar, it's utter horseshit! Go to a few music shops and try them out!!!!!
Squiers kick ASS I own a 2003 Affinity Tele (ie literally the cheapest guitar in the Fender lineup) and it never goes out of tune, and sounds alright, and most importantly plays godly. I might put Duncan Hot Tele pickups in it. I'm not so sure if I can say the same about Epis
I’ve had a £2750 Fender Strat Custom Shop which had to be sorted out with a fret crown and level! Under warranty but that still doesn’t alter the issue!
I really think im going to invest in a few of these instruments the way everyone talks about them the price is going to start going up on them. Im buying their 55pro banjo next week to start learning banjo again. Maybe upgrade to a bone nut and new strings. Takes a big man to admit he was wrong. More power to you. I count on guys like you because im a complete beginner and lets face it. I wouldnt know a shitty piece of crap to a good one when it comes to sound or build. Thanks again for the video.
Trying to get a friend to by the HB sc custom over the new epiphone lp but he didn't listen! Got it this week and I admit it looks great but and it's a massive but we plugged in and my god how bad are the epiphone probuckers! They are shit! My sc custom has the older Roswell pickups and it absolutely blows his epiphone out of the water! He spent £480 on his epiphone that has high frets and a shit setup out of the box... my Sc custom was £140 ( B-Stock) delivered to my door its was setup ok and a bit dirty but the neck/fretwork was perfect! He's now wanting to spend money on upgrading pickups in the brand new epiphone and you know what it's all about? The name on the headstock! A fool and his money is easily parted...
I have a '19 Gibson 50's Standard I have a '17 Fender MIM Strat. I also have a couple Harley Benton's and love them. I gig with them. Sure they need a set up, so did my Gibson. Sure the pickups are not all that great but hey I PAID $180 for a fully functional guitar-and they LOOK BETTER than any high dollar guitar out there. they are great guitars man.
Are they? I havent played one of those. I have only played the affinity model. I have also played the classic vibes and they are excellent but much more pricey compared to a HB
@@RickyTickyTV Oh yes. I uploaded a few videos on the tele ...The GC special. I was as you were, with the HB. I still want a HB ...Probably the Super fusion charvel or the Pete thorn copy. They seem ridiculously awesome. I have a classic Vibe strat and man, its just like you said. I play it more than anything. My MIM FSR gilmour vibe is killer too. But they are different. The CV is a 60s repro and man its mean. Hahah. I meant that the Squier series , Like Harley benton are all killer for the price. Great video my friend. Subbed btw! Haha
@@philipp5756 I have got to say that depends on which model. If you are wanting to save money. Hb. But if you want a tried and true strat or tele I'd go CV...the resale is better. Then if you want a modern I'd go HB! Hope that helps!!
If you spend a bit more you will be in nirvana. The dc custom is 100 % better than that. Solid mahogany and Grover tuners. It’s blown my mind. How do they do it!!!!!!!
Simples - factory direct to Thomann and then from Thomann direct to you!! No middle men each taking their cut! This means that the guitar is 30-50% less expensive than a guitar made in the same factory eg PRS SE range!
@@maddmatt55 yep, these guitars are actually an improvement on prs se range. The HB sc550 11 completes with a Gibson les Paul standard at 234.00. How do I know? I’ve got one. And it’s actually an improvement as it has a cutaway at the upper frets and it’s made nicers
Here we go again - another hater has a you tube channel , that's not getting the response that he was initially hoping for . What better way to encourage potential musicians to avoid Harley Benton. Guitar is an instrument . with that being said . your abilities as a guitar player will surly reflect on your attitude towards other brands , be it affordable or unattainable and every thing in between . Every guitar Ive seen thus so far - has issues , regardless of the price . Whose to say , his playing is flawed , his equipment is bought from a pawn shop and hes purposely destroyed the tonal qualities . there must untold amount of guitars who have played Haley Benton Guitars and really love them . Another thing to consider , point of origin , be surprised of just how many Guitar companies , rely on cheap labor and still produce a quality product . It makes hardly any sense , to buy something that uses unscrupulous marketing to imply this model is superior of another. Point being - enjoy the hobby for what it is . Not everyone dreams of being a rock star, most of us are more down to earth - and we just love music
@@tihomir7 I'm not hating bro, I actually like it and say it in the video. I find them to be great guitars. You just came in here hating on my playing lol and its not a guitar competition haha I know I have some work to do
Doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or a professional musician. Criticising someone’s playing just isn’t cool thing to do. For the record the playing was great in my humble opinion.
Types Title: Harley Benton Guitars Suck!
Plays Harley Benton: I'll never buy an Epiphone again!

@@austinpowers8089 I did that on the TE-52 N my sc450P90 was fine. I think some hardware quality varies.
The Harley benton brand is a game changer.

Thomann have solved the issue over ordering which was caused by BREXIT and NOT Thomann! They now have Thomann GB which has sorted out the VAT and duty issues, you now pay the advertised price! Problems solved well done Thomann
I bought an SG and yes it’s awesome!
Tuners are great,pickups are great,playability awesome👍👍👍
One of my old coworkers had the same attitude toward me using mitchell guitars. Damn good quality for the price
got the ex 84 with emg picks...i can't complain...it's really good.
Got 4 HB's now. Well OK, 5 including the custom line acoustic, and they are all grreat guitars.
An electric guitar is an inexpensive thing. It's wood with 1930s electronics. All it takes to make good ones cheaply is an honest desire for quality and some quality control. HB is doing students and ground level performers a huge service by making decent instruments available at a low price.
Subbed for honesty and humility..I can be friends with a person like that.
Looks really good. Sounds really good. And if it plays good, that's a ridiculous deal.
And yea, I got multiple bentons. I love them all.
I'm going to be ordering the double neck SG from Harley Benton in a week or two. I'm leaning towards the white one. I have had way too many red guitars in the last 30 years.
Good luck, I think I'm at 7 weeks waiting for my last order, and it still hasn't left Germany yet? No fault of Thomann or Harley Benton though.
Gonna be getting one of there guitar kits soon and Iv heard so many good things about them
I love my 2 harley bentons. Even Tuning stability is insane
How long does it take any of us to ding OUR guitars? No worries here!
what is the weight of the guitar?
He had us in the First Half not gonna lie
Squiers kick ASS
I own a 2003 Affinity Tele (ie literally the cheapest guitar in the Fender lineup) and it never goes out of tune, and sounds alright, and most importantly plays godly.
I might put Duncan Hot Tele pickups in it.
I'm not so sure if I can say the same about Epis
I’ve had a £2750 Fender Strat Custom Shop which had to be sorted out with a fret crown and level! Under warranty but that still doesn’t alter the issue!
I bought 4 harley benton. Last is a diy kit. Should buy it now before Gibson or some other big guitar company bought them.
I don't think any big guitar company (maybe the only exception being Fender) could afford to buy Thomann.
Thanks Craig! I appreciate it and glad I could help.
@@RickyTickyTV thanks again Ricky
Dont go for the cheap harly benton guitars i gotta go for the customs and aroun or abow 200$
It takes balls to admit you were wrong.Good on you Ricky.
By saying that harley benton sucks in the title you are not helping that much. Video is great by the way.
I don't care what you said, I'm a happy HB client .
well i agree lol
Shockingly you were dead ass wrong
I have a '19 Gibson 50's Standard I have a '17 Fender MIM Strat. I also have a couple Harley Benton's and love them. I gig with them. Sure they need a set up, so did my Gibson. Sure the pickups are not all that great but hey I PAID $180 for a fully functional guitar-and they LOOK BETTER than any high dollar guitar out there. they are great guitars man.
You alone are saying that HB guitars are not good. Bye
Didn't say it though....it was my assumption.
"I hate cheap guitars" Jee...price is that made a guitar sound good and of course a real Gibson or Fender. heh...
Squier Bullets kicking ass too. Lol.
Subbed btw! Haha
@@robertclarkguitar would you recommend a cv or a hb?
@@philipp5756 I have got to say that depends on which model. If you are wanting to save money. Hb. But if you want a tried and true strat or tele I'd go CV...the resale is better. Then if you want a modern I'd go HB! Hope that helps!!
I totally disagree man... HBs are so much better
There good guitars!👍👍😎🎸
Ah, one more hater! But wait, let me first see what (if anything) he has to say. Result: Now I probably own YOU an apology :)
You even watch the video? Lol
Agree, i, don't think he made it past the title. I may buy one just because of you so well done my friend!
Why to apologize? They really suck. Think of the workers in China and Vietnam sometimes.
Nice video
Thanks man!
Sounds fine. Rick's the key.
ahahahaha I love your review hahahaah
😂😂😂 lol
Nice lead tones dude
Don't think that expensive guitar will help your uninventive playing. It's not guitar problem
Well, its not expensive (114 Euro) and I'm not trying to change the world Pal. Good day
@@tihomir7 I'm not hating bro, I actually like it and say it in the video. I find them to be great guitars. You just came in here hating on my playing lol and its not a guitar competition haha I know I have some work to do
@@tihomir7 You're not that bright.
@@SkepticGamer no. I am presence
Doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or a professional musician. Criticising someone’s playing just isn’t cool thing to do.
For the record the playing was great in my humble opinion.
