- This is a basic overview of the R24. With the Zoom R24, you do not need to know much but the basics and that is what I show in this video. How to use the Zoom R24 as an audio interface or stand-alone device.

I used this to records drums on my channel. Came out great everyone compliments the sound of the drums🙌🏼
44.1 GigaHertz? Wow! That's some high quality audio.
Thank you for this. I will probably buy one of these. Putting everything through a mixer now, but think this will be better. Thanx again, great video
I've been using this for vocal recording, audio interface and playback for gigs. Audio quality is really good in & out considering the price class and all the features. But, there's so long list of things that are difficult, annoying, limited or impossible to do, that I don't want to get into it now. This should be cheaper, because this is essentially a pocket multitracker (admitting it has 8 inputs, good connectors, good audio quality). It has cheap plastic feel and the cheap "all-in-one toy" feel everywhere, from display to drivers.
I bought R24 because it can be a portable playback machine AND record at the same time (sometimes it would be really nice to save what the vocalist did live). Don't expect you could do any adjustments on a gig. Playback per project is doable, if you have good eyes to look into the tiny LCD.
As an audio interface you also have controller features. It's possible to control DAWs and even DaVinci Resolve: mute/solo audio tracks, and it reflects the true status of Resolve tracks with the LEDs. For DAW use however I didn't find it handy to have the DAW automatically map the faders to a range of tracks, because there's no way to see which track is assigned where. And then you accidentally ruin your mix and don't even know what did you touch.
I've done some great outdoor recording with the onboard mics too, but then you really can't have no wind and can't touch it - can hold it with thick gloves but that's it.
So I guess I'd like to do a review... someday! :)
Gracias a esta maquina he grabado 10 canciones ya solo me falta masterisar muy buena la r24 de zoom . me a ayudado bastante ya q pude hacer canciones mas facil q estar ensayandola con la banda. Saludos desde mexico.🌙🎷
phantom power is possible for more than the 2 obvious mic inputs
Have you tried it with Ableton and could you do a few videos on how to set it up please thanks
yeah man, i can do that!
RickyTickyTV - when using this unit as an audio interface with logic, does logic record each input as a separate track simultaneously? If i have 8 different inputs into the zoom r24 will logic recognize/record 8 different tracks?
sosickhcdrums yes, logics records each input to its own track within logic.
How do you use the USB in general but especially transfer from zoom to it, take it out, plug the USB to another zoom and upload from USB to second zoom?
I'm hoping someone will see this as I'm posting in 2022. I've been using my R24 for the past year with no issues. Love it! But last week, when I moved the recorder to my living room to actually demonstrate it for a new guitarist, everything worked great. While we were looking at it I left the room only to return to him asking questions as he was pushing buttons! Now, when I use the headphones, there is no sound! I have looked everywhere for any issues that could have occurred while he was pushing buttons but have found nothing. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be wrong? Did he push something that might have disabled the headphone out? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Try factory reset, and then, never ever again leave your things alone 😆😆😆
@@wizardito7741 Ha! Yes, never again. I unplugged it and left it for a few days. When I came back to troubleshoot, it was working! Phantom hand at work. Thanks for the reply!
That is what I did and it worked! Thanks!
Never, ever leave your stuff with a musician you don't know very well. It gets broken, sold or stolen.
Make that mfr buy you a new one! 🙎🏾♂️🤣🤷🏾♂️😅🙎🏾😂🤬
How do playback and be able to listen to the playback of all the drums and the rest of the instructions on tracks 1,2,3?
Hi, I have a question, you say that you connect the R24 to your logic pro. Does that mean that you use this an interface? can you explain more about this?
It can be used as an audio interface. It can also be used as a control surface, so it's faders control the faders in logic, for example.
Thanks for the great video! But I have one question. Can this MTR copy and paste from one track to another? What if you want your exactly the same guitar backing phrase recorded in two tracks so that you can pan your guitar backing to right and left?
Cool I have the R8
are they the same
Basically yes. R8 is the only one with a footswitch punch in/out function.
My project button is working, so I can’t create a new project and record. Is there a fix?
Hello Ricky thanks for the video!! Nothing i do have a question i hope you can answer:)) the master effect on this mixer can be used in a live situation? I mean if i want to use it as a groovebox "booster" the master effect get processed as soon the groovebox start or i have to record it internally and then the effect get processed? Hope it make sense Man!! Thaaaanksss
Thanks mate!
On the R24... how do I change the name of the recorded filename for each channel ???
What about Copying a specified region of data to
another location? My previous Zooms did that and this one doesn't seem to
Why is no sound coming through my headphones on playback?
Are the channels on mute? Volume down?
How do you hear and adjust the metronome without pushing play on the recorder? When I try to adjust the tempo it tells me to stop the recorder, but then I can't hear it. I'm trying to match it with the tempo of a demo tape.
Many many thanks for this video! Im interested in buying an R24, but I need to find a way to syncronize it with Logic Pro.
I mean, I often use a drum machine OR create basic drum parts in Logic with virtual instruments.
Usually I prefer to record the dr. machine in 2 tracks of R24 OR transfer the drum parts created in Logic into the R24 and then add keyboards, bass and guitar parts onto the R24 itself, forgetting all the mess and troubles of the computer for going on with the recording.
My question is: as R 24 has no midi connection, how can I transfer all these tracks back to Logic syncronized “in time”?…. Thank you in advance for your help!
Microphone or headphones would work!
As In lightly putting it not to loud and watch meter and see how much and when it’s done cheek it out.
Cutting a long story short does this muv fuc:
1. have a built in hard disk for storage?
2. can you record 8 tracks at the same time
3. how does the build feel, looks like cheap ass plastic
cheers!
1. SD Card
2. YES
3. Build Quality is actually pretty good; although, i wouldn't want to drop it.
Does it work with Mac programs
Can i upload the 24 to an ipad pro??
Hey, does anybody know how to download the latest software from the Zoom website to the unit itself? The manual shows you how to check the unit's current System/Software Version, but actually doesn't tell you how to download the latest firmware from the Zoom Support website to the R-24 itself!!! I don't get it? In other words, after you download it to your computer from the Support page, how do you install it on the unit? Also, can you just transfer a Project (WAV) file from the unit to the computer, without necessarily using it as an Audio Interface?
You hook up the 24 to your laptop via USB and you copy the new file into a system map. Instructions come with the download as pdf.
Is the included Qbase software just introductory? Do you have to pay for the full version?
Are you audio engineer? Can zoom r24 change the humbucker pickup tone to the single coil by using parametric eq in display mode or amp eq in insert effect mode? If can, would you please give me the detail of the parameter and patch setting.... tq sir...
there are built in guitar fx, pretty sure you can get something along those lines
Use a different guitar.
can i see you take it out of the box and set it up from the very beginning,,just a basic setup,,thank you ?
I don't have the box anymore but I could set it up for you
Trouble removing 1/4” instrument cables from combi inputs. I have the zoom r24, and I cant seem to release and remove 1/4” cables once they have been inserted. Does anybody have the same problem and did you come up with an answer to the issue without destroying the cable or zoom R24?
Yes, it's actually very annoying to remove them. I've just been yanking them out with force over the last 3 years and no damage but can not guarantee it won't break something but i doubt it. I usually have to hold the console with one hand and pull very forcefully with the other and it comes out.
Thank you so much. Best wishes!
Use 8 xlr tulip adaptors so you don't have to unplug. Or swap tracks to empty tracks.
can you loop a single track?
No. Get a looper.
TechSpert! Got Root? Or just some Moses and DAC ;-)
How is it 24 tracks? It has only 8 inputs
It has the ability to record 8 tracks at once. The other 16 tracks would be overdubs
3x8 tracks you silly. It has banks.
We don't need no tech. Specs. , no dark star has them !
I just bought one and was told I would get Cubase LE for free but its asking for an activation code, where the hell is this code, its not on the Zoom box or any of the discs
Thanks got 3 boxes sent out before finally got one
Oh tell me about it mate, pleased to say I had a better experience this time round, I had to return the whole box twice would you believe. Eventually got an unopened box and got it up and running but its annoying these keys/activation and bloody passwords even with a password manager its a pain in the arse
"Metrodome"
"Jeff Gordon"

I too am not not tech savvy
Eckspecially? Thancks
I am technically illiterate
Technologically illiterate...I always used a tascam cassette 4 track for 26 years and have to ask my 10 year old daughter, what is this, what is going on
Read the manual.
Why need to use fowl language?
because the shit isn't that serious
hahahaha.. love that retort
fowl means birds, fyi
He meant foul
Unless of course, I was chirping too much lol
