Watch all of this presentation now to find out, and discover which one might be right for you. #ZOOMR24 #ZOOMmultitrackRecorder #ZOOMRseries
The Zoom R-Series is an impressive product line to say the least. With this, I often looked at the R24 and thought, what makes this unit different from the other models in the product line? So I decided to explore these models for the answer to that question, and share the results. I hope this presentation serves useful.
Thanks Dude! Well I have been using ZOOM R24 eventually since 2023 still and am highly satisfied. That is a mighty part in fact!
I have an HD16, and an R8. I haven't used the R8, because most of my recording is done with 3 inputs. I appreciate your description of the different R machines, and hope to get more use out of the little R8. I almost forgot to mention, that there is another excellent DAW, called Audacity. It is powerful, and free for Windows, Mac, and Linux computers. I have been using it for approximately 10 years, and it just keeps getting better.
I have the r24 and I love it I plan on watching this video fully when I get home from work thank you sir for this
You're most welcome. Thank you for watching. 👍🏿
Unfortunately I haven't been able to obtain a slave R24 unit yet.... but I'll be sure to stop back by here and comment my findings and results.
Thanks for breaking down this awesome portable deck!!!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿
Nice video. Well presented. Friendly. Easy to follow. Congratulations!
I have an r16. It is a useful device. Thinking about getting an r24, too.
I just saw Zoom discontinued all three products this year (2024). It's been a very long run that testify the goodness of those items.
I have the R8 it’s a great little machine although I can’t seem to change it out of 4/4 time. I did find that Instead of using AA batteries I can connect it to the rechargeable battery pack.
I own an R24.. It's a wonderful unit. It's an absolute tragedy that Zoom won't update the drivers. The current driver available is a complete disappointment.. These units are still selling $400-$500 new. Least they can do is support their products..
That's not the first time I've heard that. It might take a good stream of complaints from owners to Zoom's support team to get that sorted out. That's is, if it's not happened already. Thanks so much for watching and sharing. 👍🏿
I love my R-24 so much. I hate it too. but OMG is it an amazing product.
Haaaa, well said! The most frustrating thing to me was that it did not have a control in quarter inch Jack that allows you to use a foot switch to press record. The R8 does. I had to mod the r24 this week and install a quarter inch Jack and a wire to the record button circuit leads. The other frustrating thing about the r24 is that you can't assign the input you're using to another track. You literally have to unplug it and plug it into the other track. This is not true on the r8. Because of these two issues the R8 is superior minus the available tracks
Why is the zoom r16 more expensive than the r24? I'm checking online, and I'm not sure if the r24 they're selling is used.
Cool I have the zoom R8
how is the sound
I want to see two units synced together!
Awesome buddy, nice to see the 3 portable recorders, for ocean waves sounds and nature sounds, I wonder if the zoom L12 has battery option, thanks again, cheers
L12 runs on a AD-19 AC adapter (DC12 V/2 A). No battery option there. Thanks for watching and sharing. 👍🏿
I like the sound on the R8 I used it once in a movie set
I have the R8
are they the same
Cool I have the R8
are they all the same
The R8 is superior because it offers a control foot switch in and you do not have to unplug and plug into another input to record to another track. The downside is it has less inputs and less available tracks. Otherwise everything's the same
gravador zoom r 16 funciona com bateria v mount?
cool I have the R8
How is the r24
i have a R24 and this is my second one where the sd card slot broke. i only use it to mic my whole drum kit using the 8 mic inputs and record guitar tracks/bass and mix everything on PC so without the sd card im sol! im about to buy a r16. i dont use any features and the inputs is what sold me. snare, 3 toms, kick and two overheads are what i need to record simutaneously. the r16 should work for what i need right? thank you for the informative video!
R16 will do.
How does the vocal recording sound for these models? I have a Tascam DP-008ex and the instruments sound good but the vocal ability is terrible.
I’m using a RODE NT1A condenser microphone so it is not a problem with the mic.
Thank you!!
The vocal recording is professional quality on these units. Although I highly recommend using an external pre-amp for your mic(s), if you are not currently. This should also help significantly with recording vocals on the DP-008ex. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿
Does it work with
Logic Pro or
Soundtrack pro
Zoom says the R24 is compatible with the PRO Tools DAW. Check their website in the support section for drivers for your specific DAW. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿
I have the zoom R8
how is the zoom R24
Does it work with
Soundtrack Pro
No it does not. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿
Hey great video! Does the R16 also have a bunch of prebaked drum loops? I'm a guitar player looking to record rough demos and onboard drums would be a huge plus for me to play guitar and bass over. Thanks!
R16 has some drum loops that should work for what your doing. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿
I was thinking
To get the R 24
The zoom r20 looks promising, wish it had 24 tracks.
R20 not to be confused with the R24
What I do I have a line 6 pod go I run one side and 2 Channel 1 and the other side into Channel 2 and record it's an amazing unit I just got to figure out how to use the bounce haha
Thanks for watching and sharing. 👍🏿
Does anyone know if the Zoom R8 is compatible with Windows 7 64 bit...? I need to get drivers etc...
I believe it's only Windows 10 and possibly later. I suggest you download the drivers from their website (zoomcorp.com/en/us/digital-mixer-multi-track-recorders/multi-track-recorders/r20/r20-support/), and give it a try. It might work for you? If so, please let us know. Best of luck and thinks for watching.
@@PowercoatMusic With a little effort, you can load Windows 7 into Windows 10 or 11, using VM (a Virtual Machine). There are plenty of tutorials on youtube to show you how to get started.
Do they work with mac
Zoom says it has software that will. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿
I have both r8 and r24
What's the difference between them?
Difference is 16 tracks.
The R24 doesn't have every feature in that line of products. The R8 has a footswitch input, the R24 does not.
I modded my r24 to have a foot switch input. All you have to do is wire a quarter inch Jack to the two circuit leads underneath the record button. :) I was so frustrated to figure out that the r24 did not have foot switch in. Especially considering how stupid loud the record button is. Why did they not use a soft touch record button, IDK.
Thanks for the deal killer tip 😂👍
Everyone I know that has an R16 has had the power section fail within two years. They now operate ONLY when connected to a computer by USB. Once it failed...neither batteries nor swapped power supply make a difference to the problem and it's not repairable.
Is this an issue exclusive to the R16 only?
@@truthwinseverytime8805 I don't know. I've only communicated with R16 users about it & the work around. ZOOM don't acknowledge the issue.
@@raycochrane3971 I'm shopping for a stand alone console recorder. Leaning towards Tascam DP series or Model 12 as the upper Model series are out of my budget.
@@truthwinseverytime8805 personally I don't recommend stand alone recorders. I have two digital ones and both have problems that the manufacturers won't fix and both require "work arounds" to use. I'm MUCH happier with an interface & DAW for financial as well as functional reasons.
@@raycochrane3971 well, I bought the Model 12 couple of days ago and am just getting to use it and so far I'm enjoying it. To each their own.
Why are you talking about these in 2021 aren't these at least approx 10 years old,....... and crap!!!! lol Why aren't they bringing out modern versions of these with better drums, effects number of ACTUAL tracks, and editing features?
Your perspective can be appreciated. I talk about these units because thousand of folks buy and use them. They are more than capable of producing professional audio productions if utilized properly. You may also want to check out my Zoom R20 video if you haven't already for more information on that newer release. Thanks for watching. 👍🏿
There are newer versions of these but they are far from crap! The only things close to as versatile are the mentioned newer versions.
Bro,, 2022 I still use R8 and it work very well, I still can’t find any tools like R8 with those feature and cheaper price, another tools is expensive with some of those features.. I use R8 for live band for earmonitor and sequencer backing track.., and the best part is you can use with battery only, no cable.. if you want the newest tools just search Idoru P-1 but still not release yet, still on production, but of course I think it would be expensive
It appears you got your wish.... Zoom released the L line of recorders... and none of them come close to the feature sets these recorders have. They neutered it by comparison. I know people that thought newer was better.... and well 1 guy sold his L20 within a month and was shopping for another R24 after trading in his old one to get the R20... the other guy I know has the L12 and hates it by comparison of the R24!!!!
But taste is subjective.... and if you don't like the drum samples... make better or play it yourself better than the samples!
