Good video! Thanks! I just bought a used one ($340), which is still very impressive to me. All the best sounds at my fingertips and toes. I love it! Best bang for the buck in 2023.
The GT-100 is my main soundmachine since 2012. Absolutely great. I can't hear any real advance in sound, buying a GT-1000. And you're right: It is built like a tank and if You have learned, to handle it, it is (relatively) simple. Like You, I use in live in different bands and I always go directly in the return of an amp, mainly MARSHALL or FENDER Hot Rod Deluxe. The fact, that it is still available on the market for about 450 Euro here in Germany, means, it still has got its right to exist. And again: It sounds incredible. In my opinion it still has got the best "MARSHALL"-sounds.
Bought mine many years ago used for 300 euros. Only thing I did to it is update to 2.1 version. Most important, you can make killer tones, it has great amp models, great effects, It has MIDI so you can control real or vst instruments or use it for notation, every button is programmable, the list goes on. Looper is 38 seconds in mono, 19 in stereo, and that hasn't changed on GT 1000 which costs a lot more. And you can overdub until it all noise 😂 At the time, I didn't really know what I got, it really is a monster. Highly recommend. I forgot to mention, with a little bit of creativity you can make great bass sounds too.
I am a well respected former boutique tube amp builder who has ditched all my tube amps and only use a GT100 now, never imagined having such great tone so affordably and easy to use!!!! Built like a tank
I own a GT-100, I'm definitely not an expert. I looked at the features of a Helix, and I didn't see any additional features on it that were "must have" to justify the price. Once you have the flexibility of a GT-100, what more do you need?
Absolutely right ! Since 2016 I've been using the GT-100 in all kind of musical bands and projects (pop, rock, funk, fusion, jazz). I use two ZT Lunchbox amps with a Shure 58 in front of it, attached to a Celestion Vintage speaker. Playing in clubs or on big stages my sounds are always the same. There is one modification I made since the start: I put duck tape on the Phrase Loop and Accel/CTL pedals and marked them A and B. Take a look in the CTL/EXP section and you will notice that you can assign any possible combination. For some sounds I use A as boost and B as solo, for others I use A for chorus and B for delay.
Well said. I bought a GT100 5 years ago to replace my range of (mainly Boss) pedals and to record. I only recently started to dig deep and it really is as simple or complex as you want! I'm finding plugging the mono out into the return on my Marshall and Blackstar amps is amazing. For recording it's awesome. Could just be a fault in mine but I've had trouble assigning tap tempo to the accel pedal and with the 4 cable method on some patches I've built. All in all a great piece of kit.
Spot on! I'm currently selling a gx100 and going back to my gt100. It still sounds amazing. There's so much hype around new equipment and you realise it's just to shift units.
I used to have one back in the day but sold it because it got buggy, some of the knobs turned automatically and I had no idea how to overcome the problem. Now after a few years after replacing it with a Digitech RP250, I think I'm ready to go back to this beast - hence buying a used unit which is scheduled to arrive today! Can't wait to get back to it after all these years!
Ive had the gt100 for years, last year I acquired a headrush pedalboard, (such a great piece of equipment) I don't gig just play guitar as a hobby at home with studio monitors, today I decided to hook up the gt100 again and to be honest when it comes to sound quality, I think the gt100 sounds better to my ears, the headrush offers a lot more then the gt100 but I find myself dialing good tones tones faster and easier on the gt100. There are things the headrush does that I wish the gt100 could do and vice versa.
I mean the Headrush was a great piece of gear but I guess it goes back to my point that the Boss GT100 should still be considered and especially because of its price point and build quality. It sounds great too
here in 2024, id love a Gt100.. i currently have a Boss Gt6 i got new in 2001, but is still chugging along.. i use a boss mt2 pedal as external fx and fender twin clean preamp and gt6 eq to shape my sound.. and im going in return jack of both my 100 w Marshall tube heads and get awesome metal Akira Takasaki tones so at the moment, i font need to upgrade.. if my gt6 ever goes south ill pick up the gt 100
I agree 👍🏼 with you bro GT boss 100 sounds great and is still hot on the market due we have the newest effect pedals on the market but is still great 👍🏼 👍🏼 👍🏼 is will never let you down. Easy to use, tweak and you get what you want 😊😊😊
Yes music Gear is so expensive right now. Seems $1000 is the starting price for most things these days. I've got the GT-100 and am happy with it at the moment.
It's funny I had this unit and upgraded to the headrush. Once u get past the lights and touch screen, the creature turns into a bit of a headache. Great sounds, yes, but u have to dial into RUclips to even get a note out. I miss the simple dial, edit, jam functions of my GT.
I liked the Helix but the GT100 is better for me. The price is right, sounds great, built like a tank and just gets the job done. This is not saying that it is better than the Helix.
Yes, it's worth spending over a grand for a processor if it's the one you need. But I'm happy with my Boss GT-1 as it does absolutely everything I need it to do. The only other thing I could imagine buying would be a GT-100. But it's not necessary now. I'm happy with the GT-1. I'm not a big fan of the Helix because it sounds too processed, and in the realm of pricy multi-effects I think the Boss GT-1000 or GX-100, which is have the price, are more than sufficient. I grew up using tube amps way back in the mid 80s, as soon as I switched from acoustic to electric. I also loved my Randall RG75. I used Marshalls, Boogies, Laneys, Fenders, etc. But I always knew solid state would get to the point where it was good enough to compete, and the RG was a hint of things to come. I also remember trying the wonderful SansAmp and Pearce amps, both solid state as well and used by a number of professionals. Not to denigrate tube amps, and there are a lot of great ones out there but being so hung up on tubes as to ignore advances in solid state is to be in thrall to an archaic fetish. Even the late Alex Dumble, known for designing one of the ultimate tube amps, believed that solid state would catch up to tube.
I'm a GIGGING musician. The Boss GT 100 is STILL my go to processor. I know, you can get a PLETHORA of more expensive units these days. But let me tell you, the Boss GT 100 IS STILL good, and its EXTREMELY GIG FRIENDLY with all the assignable functions you can map out with it. Now, if you're rich, get the next big thing that may, key word "may", sound better. But is that tiny bit of "better" worth hundreds or even THOUSANDS of dollars better?
Hi Like you review , but I have found the gt-100 muddy and dark compared with the gt-10 , the gt-10 is more bright , do you agree ? Some suggestions? the Global EQ?
Adjust 1) gain and level in the preamp ( too much gain makes the sound muddy), gain and level in the distortion pedals effects, 2) adjust the type and mic position , type of cabinet and EQ high mid low frequencies.. cut some highs and lows if necessary put another parametric EQ to boost some frequencies... Adjust global EQ and output according to the type of guitar pickup you would use.. hot pickups usually require different EQ
What i Like ist gapless switching between the presets... No line6 can do that... I use IT in the Return of an AMP The best Thing that you can Switch between the lines by pressing the presets footswitch again. So the First Line ist Always my rythm and the second Line my lead... There i have the the Same AMP but with od in Front and maybe a Delay behind... Works great... Gapless switching. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I have it for a few years now, been wanting a GT-1000 or a GX-100 to get a more "modern" sound. My only problem with the GT 100 is the knobs. 3 of them are now out of control. So I quit the knobs, just using the software. But the sound is indeed amazing.
@@stopthehate1749 They will constantly adjust in value, jumping up and down randomly. After I spray some WD-40, they become more stable, but the problem still persists.
Nice vid bro. I like how you say “BOSE” instead of “BOSS”. I have both the Line6 Pod HD500X & BOSS GT-100, bought them both in 2013. Both still hold up. Yes the look is a bit dated, but they do the job. I’m thinking about upgrading to the Helix & GT-1000, but what’s the point if you just use it as a standard pedalboard. What are IRs (input responses)? I’m not up to date on the latest stuff or gimmicks. Is it the response when if hit the string lighter to harder it simulates that?
If you want IR impulses ( cabinet simulator) just add Mooer radar or joyo cab Box in the GT100 and you will basically get gt1000 with that addition except some functions like inbuilt Bluetooth, custom IR, new preamps, which gt100 does not have.. Users who say gt100 does not have a good sound/tone.. it means they didn't work hard, understood and tweaked the various parameters enough to get their desired sound..
Before u upgrade please check out videos. It's a major jump. I have a headrush if u want it I'll sell it to u for 1/2 price. Just know u must commit to learning a whole new language and plug in and play is in your rearview. New sounds, new lush landscapes a ton of programming
Good day. I have a Boss Gt-100 conected throught the 4 cable method to a Marshal Amp. If I still want to use the amp simulation in the GT-100, where must I put the loop S/R (send/return); before or after the amp simulations. Please reply. Thank you.
I bought it for 250 gbp new abiut 8 years ago. It is now over 300 new, some people selling its second hand for iver 350 gbp... Seems to be appreciating. Sold it a few years ago unfortunately, but I just bought a second hand one l, got a great deal, had to buy it again, still one of the best in 2024, unbeatable for the price. And no unit is built as solid, only the DSP can challenge its robust build quality.
If you are buying new, get the gx100. I would only get the gt100 used. The new 400 price is too high for such an old device. I’m sure the sounds are identical but the interface and stuff would be better on the gx100.. just guessing
GT 100 it sounds really great , I am thinking of buying a GX-100, HEADRUSH or GX100. but I am still undecided and asking my self what sound do I need morethan GT 100 could make....I believe sound QUALITY doesnt have much difference, the difference will be on the feature it looks like an ipod where you have an application and play with it..but when you are in a Gig u don't need touchpad screen with fancy colour. What important is that you now how to play guitar timing, lick and you sound amazing with a simple pedalboard like GT100.
Can anyone suggest a good tutorial series on how to use this device? I have owned one for a long time but I am so new to playing guitar, I am somewhat overwhelmed. I think I need help with tone in general and all of the lingo/basics. Pedals and all are rather new to me, as a beginner. I just had to have this thing, but it is collecting dust and I want to get more into using it. Any help would be much appreciated.
Well that depends on how much looping you want to do. If looping is not a big deal for you, gt100 all the way but if you need extensive loop capabilities, rc300
Good review. I am still using my G-100 from maybe 6 years ago. I skipped the GT-1000 and the Core but I must say I feel like Jason struggling against the Sirens to resist the GX-100.
Still im using this one.same year you bought this one.2012. Im using this differently.i split the signal.pan it left and right The left goes to an amp like a Jazz chorlus.but i turned off the preamp sim.using the OD/DS. While the right channel goes straight to a DI box straight to the mixer.i just match the OD/DS to the Distorted amp.so that I have to sound.one in the Amplifier and one straight to the PA. Or you could mic the Amplifier and mix it with the Preamp.
The only thing I need in a patch right now is a clean tone. I'm using the 4 cable method with a Marshall Stack. My preset has everything but a way to get back to a clean tone. If I can figure that out I'm good.
Many possible ways. For example, puting all the effects (those you don’t in your clean tone) in the first parallel chain. And then assign a button to switch between channel a &b You can switch off the preamp too… You just have to choose thinking of your way to use the unit (in effects mode, in reset/patch mode…)

And then assign a button to switch between channel a &b You can switch off the preamp too… You just have to choose thinking of your way to use the unit (in effects mode, in reset/patch mode…) And with an extra cable, you can change the canal of your amp.
Depends on the patch. Most of them you hit the Ctrl switch (blue) and it will switch amps. It can also be set to turn pedals off and on, etc. You can also set up the amps so they are frequency dependant, lows to A and highs to B, or you can set it up based on volume. Input over a predetermined level goes to A and B gets everything underneath that level. Lots of options
I went directly from GT100 to Helix. The sound quality doesn't even compare. The only thing I miss is a particular synth patch I had on the Boss unit for Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics. Why won't you show your sounds? lol to each his own, I guess, but to me the Helix is orders of magnitude better sounding.
“Bose” 😂 I understand. When you learn something by reading pronunciation is always off. Good review nonetheless (that’s “known thele ssss”) and I’m just playin!
I think I agree. I almost bought into hype of boss gx100. I think it's just more stuff to break. I could see the touch screen stop working at a gig on that thing. But almost downgraded to me80 yesterday. But glad I didnt. I might even buy a used gt100 as a backup. Im sure they'll be plenty available now. I find it funny how at one time gt100 was best. Now gt1000 owners say it sounds bad.🤣🤣🤣 I wouldn't have power windows on my car if I didn't have to.
hahaha 😆 😆 😆 😆 Gt 1000 users will surely come back for we the GT Boss 100. we were king 👑 before they elected them as GT 1000 😂 they are still our young once 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂.. Both sounds great go for the one you can afford 😊
I have one also had it 7 or 8 years, I’ve thought about upgrading but for the price I can’t justify it, the GT 1000 doesn’t sound $1000 better than the GT 100, I might consider the GX 100
Good summary. I bought my GT100 about 7 years ago, never used it directly into the PA but with my Fender Hod Rod Deluxe or AC30. Sounds great. Now I’m considering to skip the Amp and want to hear the GT-1000 song in comparison before going for an upgrade. My band recorded our current album a month ago, all guitar tracks were powered by my GT-100, and I think it sounds nice. What do you think, let me know. The solo starts about 2/3 of the song. ruclips.net/video/Nb-xfJje85Q/видео.html
I own both the GT100 and GX100 and not one person in my band could tell the difference while I was switching between the two devices at rehearsal. The only reason I have the GX100 is because it was a gift and while it is easier to use than the GT100, it is not superior in sound. For the average musician like myself and others on budgets, the benefits do NOT justify the extra cost, considering that used GT100 devices can be purchased for next to nothing now days.

Sold it a few years ago unfortunately, but I just bought a second hand one l, got a great deal, had to buy it again, still one of the best in 2024, unbeatable for the price. And no unit is built as solid, only the DSP can challenge its robust build quality.
What about GX 100? It is about 600 euros, while GT 100 is 400 euros, where I live...
If you are buying new, get the gx100. I would only get the gt100 used. The new 400 price is too high for such an old device. I’m sure the sounds are identical but the interface and stuff would be better on the gx100.. just guessing
GT 100 it sounds really great
, I am thinking of buying a GX-100, HEADRUSH or GX100. but I am still undecided and asking my self what sound do I need morethan GT 100 could make....I believe sound QUALITY doesnt have much difference, the difference will be on the feature it looks like an ipod where you have an application and play with it..but when you are in a Gig u don't need touchpad screen with fancy colour.
Please I wanna get one for myself which do you recommend for me boss gt 100 or boss rc 300
Well that depends on how much looping you want to do. If looping is not a big deal for you, gt100 all the way but if you need extensive loop capabilities, rc300
@@RickyTickyTV thanks very much
Good review. I am still using my G-100 from maybe 6 years ago. I skipped the GT-1000 and the Core but I must say I feel like Jason struggling against the Sirens to resist the GX-100.
Still im using this one.same year you bought this one.2012.
Im using this differently.i split the signal.pan it left and right
The left goes to an amp like a Jazz chorlus.but i turned off the preamp sim.using the OD/DS.
While the right channel goes straight to a DI box straight to the mixer.i just match the OD/DS to the Distorted amp.so that I have to sound.one in the Amplifier and one straight to the PA.
Or you could mic the Amplifier and mix it with the Preamp.
That’s sounds awesome
Can i do the novermber rain solo and hotel california solo with this processot? Thanks
Easily doable 👍
The only thing I need in a patch right now is a clean tone. I'm using the 4 cable method with a Marshall Stack. My preset has everything but a way to get back to a clean tone. If I can figure that out I'm good.
Many possible ways.
For example, puting all the effects (those you don’t in your clean tone) in the first parallel chain. And then assign a button to switch between channel a &b
You can switch off the preamp too…
You just have to choose thinking of your way to use the unit (in effects mode, in reset/patch mode…)

@@remyreber3025 sorry I just saw this. Thank you. I'll see if I can figure it out. Thanks again for the help.
It's literally a new processor, I'm using a GT 10, I also had a GT 100, but the GT 10 is easier for me to set up. Greetings
How do I flip between the 2 amps in the chain?
Depends on the patch. Most of them you hit the Ctrl switch (blue) and it will switch amps. It can also be set to turn pedals off and on, etc. You can also set up the amps so they are frequency dependant, lows to A and highs to B, or you can set it up based on volume. Input over a predetermined level goes to A and B gets everything underneath that level. Lots of options
@@mojoemurphy thank you very much, I'll try that. 🙂👍
every metal studios filled with ada mp1 and lexicon reverbs even now
well i did the kemper helix floor boss just always has that live nice tone for me
is this made by Bose?
Bose or Boss one of them
🙄@@RickyTickyTV
I went directly from GT100 to Helix. The sound quality doesn't even compare. The only thing I miss is a particular synth patch I had on the Boss unit for Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics. Why won't you show your sounds? lol to each his own, I guess, but to me the Helix is orders of magnitude better sounding.
“Bose” 😂
I understand. When you learn something by reading pronunciation is always off.
Good review nonetheless (that’s “known thele ssss”) and I’m just playin!
Bose? I think you meant Boss.
Now gt1000 owners say it sounds bad.🤣🤣🤣
I wouldn't have power windows on my car if I didn't have to.
Haha power windows more stuff to break for sure
hahaha 😆 😆 😆 😆 Gt 1000 users will surely come back for we the GT Boss 100.
we were king 👑 before they elected them as GT 1000 😂 they are still our young once 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂.. Both sounds great go for the one you can afford 😊
I have one also had it 7 or 8 years, I’ve thought about upgrading but for the price I can’t justify it, the GT 1000 doesn’t sound $1000 better than the GT 100, I might consider the GX 100
The problem with this stuff is you pay a fortune for it and it isn't worth anything at resale!
No sound of the unit ? Wtf
And don't forget, the GT1 and GT001 have the same sound engine - great sounds for virtually nothing!
You are absolutely right! Thanks for watching bud
I need help guyss! I appreciate a Lot Khruangbin and i dont what effect he use , some can give me suggestions?
Grazieee :)
Not bose. Boss
Thanks man
Couldn’t agree with you anymore!!!!
The solo starts about 2/3 of the song.

yes. like beer drink. like beer drink over head
IR hype?
keeping up w joneses?
use your ears. :-)
Seriously the amp sims are awful
why is he saying boze lol
Stop spinning in you chair and sit still ffs. Also it’s pronounced Boss as in “boss”, not Bose.
Great advice
RickyTickyTV can I have your boss in exchange of my channel with 21.9K subs..?
No thanks buddy. Good luck
