If one needs a perfect device in every aspect then Xperia XZ Premium is their best choice. It was a beast before. Now it is beyond it. No flagship released till date can beat it in performance, it has best or to be exact most natural color reproducing camera and comes with best Hi-res audio most accurate and non overlapping speakers available on a smartphone. Now the speakers did get extremely loud but I doubt if it was able to retain the clarity in audio output.

If you are talking about iPhone X then I cannot comment on that. But if you are talking about iPhone 8 then yes. SONY did beat it in app optimization, memory well iPhone wins. Camera Xperia XZ Premium has most natural camera in the market no doubt in that. It even defeats iPhone 8 in battery test. But trust me iPhone 8 itself is a huge improvement in battery utilization compared to old iPhone 7.
So yes for now it defeats even iPhone

Galaxy S8/S8+(got utterly destroyed), One Plus 5(Got defeated in majority aspects except battery and had draw in memory), LG V30(Got defeated in majority aspects except battery and in memory), HTC U11(Got defeated in all except memory), NOKIA 8(got utterly destroyed), iPhone 8(Got defeated in all except memory), Galaxy Note 8(Got defeated in majority aspects except battery and memory).
The defeat of memory test: Xperia XZ Premium even having 4GB Ram only refreshed one or two small apps while retaining heavy apps and games with no problem. I would not consider it a big defeat.
Xperia XZ Premium has destroyed all the flagships at Optimization. Web browsing test again a complete sweep(it was bit insane). Camera most natural colors reproduced on a smartphone. 4K HDR display it has highest possible color gamut and very high contrast and most natural display unlike dull paled out AMOLED displays. Clearest audio with extreme details and no audio overlap.
Battery lasts one full day unless you use it like crazy. With STAMINA mode it will last even longer.
Overall it is a killer.
I wish Sony would add back in built screen recording feature like they had on their old phones

Android Guy There is so many applications in the playstore for screen recording, but they should bring back double tap wake up.
Android Guy one source says it was removed due to complaints from streaming giants like Netflix spotify RUclips etc.
Ali Bashir none of them record audio from inside... they record with built-in audio recorder making loss in audio quality..
and im not a fan of double tab to wake.

to enable that feature. touchpad must be running all the time making battery drain.

So the update pretty much eliminates the top reasons not to buy the phone - camera distortion and low volume speakers.
The reviewers should make this known, more people should buy this phone. I just got it a week ago and I almost bought Samsung instead because of the camera distortion. Now I'm happy I didn't!
I just sold my xz premium to get a note 8. Sony is definitely faster but note 8 wins in every other category. Been a long time Sony fan. But it's outdated wish they would do bezzeless display and I'll buy it. Plus the spen does come in handy
I have the same issue - XZP or Note 8.
Have both Z5P and Samsung S7 Edge for trying out both brands.

Please let know the battery improvements if any and is there any heating issues? There is no heat issues in nougat. Hope with Oreo update the phone becomes more premium.

Where can you get those lights in the jar????? Are they USB powered??? I love your videos. I just got the Z5 premium a few months ago and just tonight ordered the XZ premium. I know it's a couple of years old, but I got the international dual-sim version. The official U.S. versions have the fingerprint sensor disabled for whatever reason. I'm in Texas, BTW.

About that fingerprint sensor, you can flash International version of Oreo firmware on your Xperia XZ Premium and that will enable the fingerprint sensor on your phone, it's fairly easy! there are tons of videos on youtube on how to do it.
@@TechGuyCharlie I ordered the XZ premium from Amazon. I got it and was ecstatic that I was able to unlock the bootloader and root it. Unfortunately, Sony disables the camera when you unlock the bootloader. The pictures show a green screen instead of the picture. Go figure. I was able to return the phone, he gave me a refund and I'm debating whether to order another one. My Z5 premium keeps shutting off for whatever reason. I've only had it for 2 months. Sony's are just some really weird phones.
So aside from the Google/Nexus phones is the Sony XZ Premium the first Android phone to get 8.0 Oreo?

Thank you! Actually, Multiwindow and floating video thing have been around for quite some time on Samsung phones! I remember my Galaxy Note had it. I've given up on 4K at the moment, just running the phone as it is stock without any extra tweaks. I was hoping to see an option to change the screen resolution in Oreo but there is none.

So after the Oreo update on XZ Premium, it basically has all the features of XZ1 the XZ Premium with Nougat was looking? Like, burst shot on camera, predictive auto and 3D scan?
Pretty much feels like the XZ1, features like 3D scanner, predictive capture and burst are available in Oreo although I am disappointed with the battery life and removal of Answering machine after the Oreo update.
What Screen-On-Time have you experienced on XZp before and after Oreo update?

Nope, everything still runs in 1080p and the dialer will still crash if you set the resolution to 4K.
4K only works for RUclips and 4k video playback with the built-in video player. Amazon prime video isn't supported.

Yeah, the dialer on my XZP is same as it was on Nougat. No change there.
After updating my XZ Premium to Oreo the shape of the home button changed into a cercle. My problem is why only 1 cercle and not 2 like i see on most others and how can i fix it ?? Thanks :)
I've heard from a xz premium user that after the Oreo update RUclips videos cannot be viewed in native 4k resolution. Can you clarify that ?
Works on mine, when you watch a video that was uploaded in 4K on YT you can change the resolution to 2140p that's 4k.

Nope, it does not. Its pretty much stock Android with minimal customisation on top, so there are very few extra customised features.

It's says that xperia assist reminds you of calls and sms. I've been getting calls and sms and no reminders of any. Do I need to activate something to make this work.

No 3D creator
no autofocus burst
no sterio speaker improvements
No pro srgb mode on display settings
So, the sound speakers are more louders with this update?

You could download a speaker boost app and increase your volume

After 4 days of use, I feel its more or less the same... I need more charge and discharge cycles to come to a conclusion, but my initial impression is the battery life is very similar to Nougat, maybe even slightly better.
hmm that sounds cool.For me the SOT has reduced .I used to get 6+ SOT on a regular basis.
Also i more thing i would like to tell u is that the Location tracking has been really notorious in draining my battery.Google keeps on tracking and sharing your location which is unnecessary i feel

Y21 Rico you could always play 4k on RUclips on XZ PREMIUM. Also 4k 60, 4k HDR and 4k HDR 60fps

Nope, all your data will stay intact after the update. But it is still a good idea to backup everything from internal memory including contacts in case something goes wrong.

How is the battery life on oreo
Very similar to as it was on Nougat! I got around 7 hours 45 minutes of SOT in 2 days of normal use with around 11% charge remaining.

Oreo adds this feature natively, unlike earlier Android versions which was added by others brands outside of Google.

Screen mirroring will not work since this update.
I've tested it on my LG WebOS TV and it works fine. We also tested with a slightly older Samsung smart TV and it didn't work but was fine with the latest model of Samsung Smart TV. How old is your TV? I'm guessing this has something to do with the compatibility issue with on Oreo because my mate's Pixel 2 also behaves the same way. Kinda disappointing though.

Updates aren't rolled out all at once. You may have to wait up to a month or so if you're unlucky.

there is some fix for mirroring but i don't know how to do it. Its says that do it "flash via recovery". I just don't know any of this tech things.. :(

I'd say pretty good, I am getting around 2 days of backup with around 7 hours of SOT on an average (stamina mode off) with normal use, I don't play games on my phone, the battery life I'm getting is more or less similar to Nougat.

It should actually improve battery life.
To be honest I feel battery life is slightly better on Oreo! but the difference isn't much so I'd say its more or less the same as it was on Nougat.
Tech Guy Charlie actually it's probably cause I'm using Spotify on here more often on speaker since sound quality has improved immensely. I was still using my z3 for Spotify because that speaker was superior to the premium beforehand. I still feel the z3 is louder though
