Just bought the phone for £300 can't believe it I'm getting a phone that costs a lot less than the pixel 2 and s8. Snapdragon 835 and a 4k screen! The oreo update looks fantastic soo close to stock. Great video man.

I know it seems unrealistic, but if I use stamina mode under 20% I can easily achieve that.
No, wifi always on and dual sim active.
You can check the gsmarena, they achieved 10 hours of web browsing on nougat!
so it is possible on oreo :)

I don't see that really possible. I have xz-premium running nougat but don't think oreo will add another 3 to 4hrs screen on time. Your usage must be really light and simple otherwise that kind of screen on time is not possible. So what is your usage
I used 20% screen brightness, I browsed the net using chrome, I used telegram messenger, Instagram, and Wifi Always on!
if I play games and use LTE it will drop to 9 hours :)
I have had exactly the same experience with my SONY XZP. Louder speakers.... Longer battery.... New features.... It was already a beast of a phone.... Even more so now

Kenny Rifky Shadik no idea my friend. Ive had it six months and never had any distortion issues with the camera at all.
It also brings a Camera distortion fix in camera settings. A lot of people complained about the distortion due to the wide angle lens (the distortion is completely normal but many can't cope with it) also we need to wait for the next update with build number ending in .51 as the laser focus isn't working the way it should but overall great work by Sony

Rishubh Gusain I'm talking about laser focus not the camera sensor. The November build number is 47.1.A.5.51 at the moment on 47.1.A.3.254 it's not performing as it should be

I strongly recommend factory reset after major OS update. Anyway XZP with Oreo ROCKS in both battery and performance. I'm very pleased.

oh. I heard that there are some issues about sensors ( laser focus & RGBC ) in this OREO update. It will be fixed in November's security update.
In my country, those issues were fixed by the security update few days ago. so... if you have trouble in colors or focus in photos, don't worry. it will be fixed soon.
How is the screen on time
Hazza Diesel it depends on really many things. but typically, 6~7 hours, mainly using wifi.

The double to awake the phone or switch it off has been with sony for more than 2years. Check better. Sony has always been ahead when it comes to features but no reviewer seems to dive deeper. It’s always about Samsung or iPhone. Pity

is phone is similar loudness to razer phone, i can't decide what to buy razer phone or xz premium, first i wanted xz premium but when razer came out i want razer now, xz premium has better camera and more screen brightness, razer phone has better speakers and more battery plus more screen refresh rate but, so i can't decide i even went to look at them, touched both of them....currenty using xperia z and xperia z2 both working perfect, looking like new, never fixed - i always used sony phones but i like the look of razer phone being similar to xperia z and full metal body like z2(full aluminum frame no plastics)

I think you can set the Double tap to sleep when you pull up the Settings from the Home screen. That one along with the Widgets, Themes, etc.. Not sure if it's the same with the XZ Premium but I have that on my XA1.

That's surprising! Not sure if it's that significant of a feature tho. Because most of the time, you press the power button to lock instead of tapping the screen. I didn't set it up until I watched your video. And I still lock the phone through the power button.
On my Z3 ,you have to pull down your finger on a empty space on the homescreen. Then on the right top corner click the 3 dots "..." and then u can select the Double tab funktion "Double tab for energy save". Maybe its similar on the XZ
The regular XZ Oreo update has appeared to be worse for battery life, glad to hear the premium is having a much better go!

I was. then I did a factory reset and it took care of the battery drain. But it's still about 15 percent worse battery give or take

Quite difficult to get more than 4.5 hours of SOT on Oreo. If used very conservatively, I may get a SOT of around 5 hours but that is just about it. I have found out that the phone consumes quite a lot of power when idle. My XZP came with Oreo in it.

Amazing improvement. But do you have the laser and RGB sensor issue after update to android 8? Such as the camera Laser auto focus and RGB sensor fail to function properly?
XzP is the best android phone on the market .. even the likes of the pixel 2 can't compete with the xzp and the pixel 2 hasn't even been out long

I dont really notice a noticeable increase in volume level... still pretty low to me even though its pretty high quality compared to every other phone but its still pretty low either that or there is some thing I am missing here
LionK a lot of people reported that they did not notice a difference. Personally, it seemed like the volume had a slight increase 👍

Double tap to wake, not important. Would burden the processor anyway. I remember buying a Sony Xperia SP C5302 build for Indonesia (based on the Sony Singapore specs), it had Face Unlock (sort of like Sony's version of the Apple iPhone X Face-ID). I didn't feel comfortable using Face Unlock. Feels awkward to me...but so damn cool. Yes.
Then again, I disabled the Face Unlock feature and went back to the Pattern Unlock feature instead. So old school...but felt comfortable. Sigh.

Rose Anaya Polo there are a couple of flip cases out there if you want more protection. Personally I don't like to use a case, and if i do, i just have a back silicone case. But thats just me 😀
Did you notice any improvement quality of the camera with the upgrade? I'm not saying the camera is bad or anything like that I was just curious if the update had a positive affect on the camera.

charles celino I've stopped using a screen protector but I have noticed very faint scratches on the screen. So its up to you 😀😀

+nikhil foka volume of hardware can be controled my software. In other words, they just made it so that the volume goes higher.
Andriej is exited about increasing volume I was to but after day or two I think it was placebo effect, speakers indeed are slightly louder but definitely not a huge improvement. For me they OK I'm not a public transport music fan on the phone 📱, speakers sounds fantastic in terms of quality btw.
Agreed the battery life is awesome now, I charge every couple of days+ only takes less than an hour. BTW: if you have this phone turn off all the audio gimmicks(Enhanced and clearaudio off) and have it on plain audio, its much louder and sounds better (Tested through momentum headphones)-just use Flac files.

Still no Pixel-like launcher like that of Pixel/Moto/Samsung phones? Better memory management? Still no system wide dark theme? Bootup/Reset still very slow? Camera loading times still slow as hell?

1. The sim card anten indicator sometimes disappear and reachs to zero.
2. Wifi sometimes is disconnected and immediately connects.
3. The phone keypad is too slow.

Can you help me? I decide that reset my phone . If i do this , come back the android version(8.0.0) to the previous version(7.0.0)?
masoud mahdavi After such a major update, a factory data reset is highly recommended. It tends to fix most issues. But make sure you backup your phone first.

I just got this, and have gone through all the software updates to get 8.0, do you still recommend I do a factory reset? What's the purpose? And if I do will I have to redownload the OS again?
I think double tap screen off is available in the home settings...I enabled it
And it's working on my device

and also regarding that " 3D creator" i also had one issue, which is i wanted to send this file as, but i clicked by mistake to use as default.. and i sent it to gmail.. but there is no way i could come back to send it via different thing like whatsapp or otherway.. even if i deleted the caches of this app and cleared data but still the same.

I think Sony had issues wuth the doubletap-features so they removed it to work on theme some more. Think a sony-representativew in sweden said it will return.

I have to say I was a bit disappointed with the Oreo update as my phone now seems to die faster than before. I usually charged it every day and a half and now I charge it every night. Also the automatic brightness for screen is broken. It goes haywire in ever changing scenarios like when I am in a dark room with TV on it makes my screen flash bright/ dim to compensate. It is much to sensitive than before. I also checked volume of speakers and it's still considerably lower than S8 and iPhone X. Although I still think this phone sounds better and the update cleaned it up even more it is no where near as loud as those phones.
Are we getting the same changes in Xperia XZs too? Please let us know!

Takuya Kimura its very hard to make a recommendation to someone else. It depends on which phone fits your neads better. Do you need the biger screen and the s pen, and the dual lense from the Note8? or do you want some unique experience such as 960fps or stereo speaker or 4k display on your phone.
The option of the 4K app on the camera app next to the panorama feature have gone for me since the update. Is that the same for everyone else??
Great, now Sony only needs an update to reduce those bezels (like the size of the pixel xl 2 or the old moto nexus 6 which done this much better). Otherwise great phone, great support.

I am a student of computer vision. But I am not sure how can it scan 3D point could with only single camera. The result is pretty impressive(both point cloud and albedo of the surface). Anyone have any ideas?

Who knows how wide is the camera in degree. Sony said they just fix the distortion issue because of the wide angle, but I have no idea how wide it is.

i bought this phone almost a week ago and i'm loving it, but i have one confussion which is the keyboard ( it is very slow) usually i type fast and the keyboard can't match with my typing , but on my samsung note 4 i used to type as fast as i want with no problem.. anyway sugges to make the keyboard respond faster?

i got my update a few weeks ago. however everything seems the same to me. same batterylife which wasn't bad anyway and the volume seems the same to me too....i also notice when i download an app i get a crash notification but yet my app does get downloaded and works still....weird.
+Clement Southwell sometimes updates dont install correctly. Think about it, the phone needs to update the whole software and still keep everything (apps and data) in place and optimised for the new update. I would recommend a factory data reset after you done the update. BACK UP YOUR PHONE FIRST.
hey did the reset! i think it worked on most of it but i still get the com.android.phone error whenever i finish downloading a app or update an app. i tried the clearing of cache and data on the phone app and sim tool kit to see if it would stop it but that didn't work....any suggestions.? i still get the app and updates fine and working but it's just annoying having that warning pop up everytime..lol
Clement Southwell do you have cm security , I mean in this case maybe your phone has a virus hiding in somewhere , maybe some of the apps you installed previously has a virus , you better check it out before doing software update , try to scan your phone using cm security first and do the latest update using software repair on xperia companion .
So battery life hasn't improved for you. I was really looking forward to oreo update on my XZ premium but i guess now I'm no longer excited.

I have screen mirroring problem. TV is ok, it is Bravia and my wifes Xperia C5 don't have any problems with mirroring.

PjPlayz it's actually still better than alot of newly released phone's if you watch some speed tests it beats both iPhone X and Samsung note 8, it's crazy.

Daily Day try a factory data reset after the update, it is recommended. Make sure you backup your phone first.

Hi MrWalker1000. Personally i noticed an increase in volume everywhere (speakers, headphone jack, bluetooth headphones). I feel like Sony listened well and addressed most of the issues.

denny hermawan in the UK the Sony XZ Premium never had that feature. Even with the Oreo update its still missing. However i know its available on some older Sony models. Dont know why they decided to take it away from the XZ Premium

AndreiSmantana that's the good thing about Sony. I have the Xperia Z2 and I'm constantly getting updates. Just this week I got an update to allow me to use android pay! This is a 2014 phone! And still gets updates from Sony!

It doesn't drop but it doesn't sometimes connect to the saved network which is frustrating.

normally yes but the z5 series will be one of the last to receive it
Actually the volume has increased in some apps but not all of them.
One of the apps that is still quiet is the Samsung Browser and that is what I use to d/l youtube videos.

And after messing with my XZP for a while I learned I had to use the magnification gesture to really see the quality of 4k videos.
