- Sony Xperia XZ Premium is definitely the best phone in MWC 2017 with large bezels, this time I’ll do a drop test with it, include bottom down drop, back cover down drop and screen down drop. People say it should be OK to do drop test, cause the up and bottom speaker are both metal, so will it survive? Let’s see.

2. This test was been done on flat clean floor of one square, no anything sharp on the floor. If there's anything sharp on the floor, the phone would be easier to get crack.

Anyone who really loves Sony knows how to be careful.
Sony is like a beautiful delicate creature, not meant to fall.
When they eventually do drop, you will remember every scratch and it's part of the personality.
There is an elegance that the Premium version of Sony products have that none can touch.
I just wish they would continue the Z Ultra series, 6.4 inch display, 6.5mm ultra slim, damn now that was Sony showing off.

DidNothing Wrong dropped it naked.. Now i bought the original roxfit impact case, slim gel case and roxfit tempered glass since is was to clumsy. I work in construction so that's why i had to buy a case. 😅🙌
rafikozz Xperia screens are pretty durable. Idk what they do with the gorilla glass. I've had an Xperia M2 for 3 years. Dropped it down a flight of stairs, onto tiled floors, concrete floors, and even off a small 2 metre ledge when I was climbing once. No case for any of the drops. Still no cracked screen.
Fong-Fong Huang i have a z5p and this phone i dropped like theres no tomorrow. no case except for some tempered glass to prevent scratching and I can testify this phone can handle it.

I have had this phone 2 months. It is the best phone I have ever owned. Simply stunning. Feels so extremely high quality in the hands. Screen resolution, performance, camera and battery life all four are unbeatable on this phone.
KLRGT500KR I'm using one right now. Have to agree about almost all the things you listed aside the battery, but it is the only issue because of the 4K screen that drains a lot of power.
Yeah, 4K HDR video or switching the native mode from 1080p to 4K HDR so that it is full-time HDR 100% of the time does seem to consume a lot of battery. I guess, it is still not perfect.

XZ Premium did OK, those bezels protected the front screen well. Otherwise same fate as the back, camera lens didn't crack thanks to Gorilla glass 5.
Wilson Lee how do the bezels protect the display? They are all under the same glass screen ? The glass on top is meant to protect everything

The camera lens is a separate piece from the rest of the glass stuck in place with double sided tape, which is a good thing because it makes it replaceable, but it's not like you can get an original replacement easily. I know Witrigs sells these regularly, but the shipping cost might turn some buyers off.
The back glass that broke is gorilla glass too 😔

Good video. Glass phones are very fragile. Some youtubers makes drop test of Samsung s7 and s8 and on the video resist very well but in the real world all my friends that have dropped just one time their galaxys get seriously cracked... So I think your video is legit and the xperia xz premium is a beautiful phone with the same durability as any other glass made phone. The best materials are aluminum and good plastic
If phone manufactures could stop making the back of phones out of glass that would be great
glass loooks good but it just makes phone almost impossible to have withot case. samsung uses shiny plastic that looks like glass but its not. its terrible wehn it gets scrathed and looks very bad imo. maybe the best would be to make it out of matte plastic or sth thats not reflective so microscratches are not a problme

Class phone, got one, amazed the front screen is OK. Definitely getting a cover soon though.
I suggested to sony team to make carbon fiber unibody for the back, and uses gorilla glass 7 or saphire for their screen in 2020..

Yeah but you wouldn't want to touch it for very long. Glass shards start coming off rather quickly.

sony gadgets were very durable. I have sony xperia e4 and we all know how old model it was, i have also drop it so many times but it still doesn't broke not even a scratch in the front or something. how much more to this latest model. I really love sony so much. I have my phone for 4 years now and it still very durable considering its an old model. I love you sony. You always provide the best gadgets 😘😘

z Wietnamu There seems to be no champhering on the back top and bottom like on the front top and bottom.
The metal top and bottom on the front seemed to protect the front glass from being hit, but nothing's left for the back, hence the damage.
I'd say this could be the reason, as the phone has protrusions for both front and back. However, the one I have has a big scratch (and minor small ones) on the back apparently from the previous owner's keys - which do nothing to Gorilla Glass 5. So the back may be standard tempered glass with a laminate sticker for the colour.
I also think that his screen drop tests may not have landed directly on the screen at any point.

Both are Gorilla Glass 5, but probably the front is thicker to protect from damage, the objective of using GG5 at the back is to avoid scratches more than actually protection, I mean, maybe the front is gorilla glass 5 with 0.5mm thick and the back is also gorilla glass 5 but with 0.2mm thick or something like that, glass is heavy and they dont need to use thick glass at the back

Next time, you can use both hands to hold the phone before dropping it. Using only one hand hardly to achieve best result.

I've got this fone and I can quit honestly say it best fone I've had however the glass back is not that durable what so ever. I've had it for less than a year and the back has smashed twice now with having a case on it and sony recon it's gorilla glass 5. It ain't. The front hasn't even had a chip scratch.,crack, what so ever. It haven't had a protector on it.
All in all defo 9.5/10 tho

Very good!!! Strong enough!!! Only back cover damaged. With some protectiv glass or film on backside it will not damage at all. Very nice! And repair of broken backside panel is cheap and very fast and easy!!! And you can go swimming with your Xperia already after repair like with new phone!!! 😀😀😀 And only 30-50$
It's not iPhone 150$ - 300$ for the same backside panel repair!!!

Take it to the official service if you got warranty, or you can open the back cover and reconnect the screen flex cable, it might be loosen when dropping.
