The beach that Rose Tyler is standing on I have visited. In the story the beach is supposed to be in Norway. In reality, its real name is Dunraven bay near Southerndown in South Wales. It has appeared on at least 2 occasions with Matt smith's doctor. 1 with river song and the weeping angels and the other with dinosaurs on a Silurian ship. If you ever get a chance to visit the area then there is a public house which serves food in Southerndown village called the 3 golden cups. The last time I was there they had 2 autographed pictures on the wall showing the crew who used to frequent the place during filming.
Believe me, this was a sad episode and a emotional goodbye for Rose. But, this is only the beginning. This show is such an emotional rollercoster. This is definitely up there as one of the saddest moments in this show but probably not the most for me personally. Whenever Companions and Doctors especially leave it's emotional and everyone will say I don't wanna go on but you'll love all of the companion's and doctors to come and be just as sad when you lose them too. That's one of the best and beautiful thing about this show. Really looking forward to your future doctor who reactions and hope you still enjoy the rest of the show
Okay big comment coming up. I’m actually pretty glad you took a break. I don’t know how far into season 3 you are so I’ll refrain from saying any spoilers. When I first watched this I pretty much binged all of NuWho and never took a break even between big emotional episodes like this one. In hindsight I should have even though I always get impatient when I don’t know what’s going to happen next. Rose was my first companion and will always hold a special place in my heart. I was a wreck after this episode too and just jumped into the next season without having a “grieving period”. That caused me to have my love for Rose get in the way of liking the next companion. It became an issue again with a future doctor. I guess my point is this: try not to let your love for one character get in the way of you liking another. Don’t know if that will be a problem for you but just wanted to give my perspective as someone who watched all of NuWho in a very short amount of time. Sorry for the long comment I’ll shut up now.
"When I first watched this I pretty much binged all of NuWho and never took a break even between big emotional episodes like this one. That caused me to have my love for Rose get in the way of liking the next companion. It became an issue again with a future doctor." Same. A few years ago when I started watching the show, I binged it and I do think that I should have taken a break. It really stopped me from liking the next companion. Even Donna who is now one of my favorites.
Betty Georgieva I actually liked Donna even though she came right after Rose strangely enough. It was Martha who I didn’t like and later 11. I’ve since rewatched all of NuWho and while they’re still not my favorite companion/Doctor I do like them more than I did before.
@@crystald.6902 Definitely upon rewatching the series, I liked Martha more. I know many people don't like Donna at first, probably because she is very loud, but I found her very funny from the very first ep she was in. After rewarching she and Rose are my favorite companions. May I ask (tag it as spoiler :) ) Who is your favorite companion?
Genuinely beautiful emotion. I really appreciate your work and your clear love of something that means just as much to myself and so many others. Happy to have you amongst the Whovians.
Hello again! (I commented on The End of Time part 2) sooooo for me this is an episode that I can never watch without crying, even though I know what happens so much I could quote scenes by heart. There was a time before Doomsday and a time after Doomsday in my poor Whovian heart. This was traumatic for a 11 or 12 year old (when I saw it aired) 😅😢😭😭😭
You cried, so it may sound a bit strange, but: What a lovely reaction! :) I like how deep you are into the show and in this case especially Rose (imho the best DW companion of all time). The series 2 finale made me cry too and so did your video now - thanks for that. ^^
Me, a Veteran Whovian, long-since accustomed to the roller coaster and knowing what's coming: *Can't stop laughing at the feels trip Shayla's having! Even though it makes her feel bad for doing so* ALSO Me: *CRIES ALL OVER AGAIN* OH RIGHT BAD WOLF BAY 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫 Don't worry, the show just gets better and better! I know it hurts, now, and it's DEFINITELY gonna hurt in the future, but you will love EVERY MINUTE OF IT, and even if there is a season or two that you don't like much, just stick with it, because just like life, this show is about the ups and downs and having hope and courage and loving people with everything you've got, platonically AND romantically, and even learning to love yourself, no matter how much you don't think you can. We're in the middle of series 11 right now, and even though it went through some rough patches for me in series 8, I held on, and it got better, and I am STILL feeling absolute mountains of love for this series! It's really something special, and after a while, you'll get used to the way you have to learn to say Good Bye to someone you've learned to love EVERY SEASON, and how you just KNOW it's going to break you when you do, but you won't regret it ONE BIT! I'll give Doctor Who one thing; it's that show that you know you can go back to whenever you're having a day where you just need a good, hard cry, because you'll have about 15 episodes that are guaranteed to make you cry out every last drop of water in your 75%-water human body. And you will LOVE IT. Now. I've heard there are feels happening in tonight's episode, and I wasn't able to watch it before work, so I think I'll go watch LAST WEEK'S episode a few more times until this one drops into my amazon prime account. 😆 I don't know if I'm ready or not. Ps: You will learn to care about Wedding Dress Woman VERY SOON. She's no Rose Tyler, but she is just as brilliant for her own reasons! 😉 Everyone needs someone like her in their life, especially the Doctor!
I remember watching this on tv as a child. It was extremely sad. But now at 29, after experiencing some very heartbreaking relationships and knowing how this feels. This rips my soul clean out.
Take a deep breath, calm down haha. What a great reaction! This is not the last time you feel like this. It is one of my favorite things about this show, how it can rip your heart out, lol.
For me this is the second best chemistry of any pairing in New Who (Tennant and Piper). There is one other pairing which I think has slightly better chemistry - and is equally as sad when it ends.... I don't want to say anything more than that. But you WILL enjoy it again! I promise! And even though the episodes go on without Rose, I think Season 3 and 4 are better written seasons than 1 and 2, so you have some great writing to look forward to. :)
i assume you mean either donna or amy (& rory) - they're two of the saddest and have some of the best cehmistry for me. i was a wreck after donna's exit, it's possibly twice as heartbreaking as rose's imo. ofc, that's partly bc donna is my favourite companion of nu-who, as much as i love rose and the others.
@@dylanleff373 I still don't ship any companion with the Doctor bc I just don't see him like that with any of them. That and he's a 900-year old time lord. I think the writer took on an impossible task with a romantic subplot, bc how was it ever gonna work? Well, we know how they sort of ended up finding a "solution" (something I personally found odd, and it seemed like a rushed "solution") but from the get go, the odds were never good for that sort of thing, it just ends up bringing a lot of disappointment in the end for those who end up liking the romantic subplot.
Bless you for crying, and everyone else who cried during this. I’ll keep this short as I can waffle on, I LOVE this show, it helped me when I needed it and it continued to be a big part of my life since I was 12? When it came back, But I completely missed series 1 and 2, started midpoint series 3, And I find tenants run PERSONALLY. The hardest to re-watch thanks to the bit of ‘love story’ but it defo broke people. (The exact reason, I had a friend called Rose, and my then friends would just draw it to doctor who. Every time. And never took it seriously. It’s a bit more complex than that but she was one of the first people I actually cared about...) But watching the reactions - I’ll be honest, I had a few tears already so You beat me haha, P.S. (I wasn’t originally gonna say this) but you look like a twin of a friend/former co-worker, in the way you talk, the only difference is voice, she has a higher pitched voice and a lisp (at least, with no offence, a harsher one than you might hear someone have) ...Come to think of it, she’s the only person I know with a lisp... Secretly I don’t have a sister who I might know? :D I’m just making that cannon for my own sanity. All the Best Stasis
This was a great reaction, Shayla. My heart broke for you. Wished I could give you a hug. We all felt the same way at the time too. Still, you have a lot ahead of you to look forward to and I can't wait to see how you feel about those episodes. :) Even if Past Shayla did want to take a long break.
As a lifelong viewer of Doctor Who (I grew up watching the original series on PBS from age 10 onwards) this happens a lot. Companions come and go, Doctor's come and go, one of the constants is change.
I didn't see many comment about her choice in leaving. It's said that it was her choice. Though at the time she was going through a divorce with a tv show personality she said it was ultimately a career move. Most people choose not to stay too long on Dr Who because they're worried about being type cast. It's such a huge show that it's all their ever going to be known for. I see their point but personally, I say own up to it! Let it ride!!! If you're the best at something and that something is the best of its kind then beat that horse dead. Or at least til it's starting to limp.
I'm just smiling seeing you suffering during those end scene XD But at the same time, inside of me, just feeling regret, cause I will never experience of every reactor when Rose leave the show I know the show because of RUclips clips, so yeah... I never knew spoilers during my 14 years of living... Series 9 is like my first ever real series...
@@JustSoShayla that's okay. No one that I know, even my family, knows about Doctor Who. Living in my own fandom, if I say so myself. And it's a video recommended by RUclips. So, being curious person, I have watch many clips and scene from RUclips videos. But at least thats where it all started. :D
I watched the first few seasons of doctor who probably when I was at my most hormonal and emotional age, and I think I cried at nearly every single episode of the first 3 seasons lol. I definitely cried the hardest at this season tho.
The finale that ripped our collective hearts out and curbed stomped them. Also, being the Doctor’s Companion is a hazardous occupation. You've probably figured that out by now.
You cried just as much as I did the first time 😭 Billie Piper did indeed choose to lose the show. Her reasoning is she didn’t want to get too comfy in that position because she loved it so much. Honestly, after this episode I boycotted the show for like a few years before I finally tried season 3 😭
@@eleven5885 I upload 2-3 times a week with DW. One week will be every Friday and Sunday, then the week after that will be every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Since I just posted three this past week I will upload today and Sunday, hope this makes sense.
Yeah. Doctor Who will legitimately fuck you up sometimes. I’d recommend a box of tissues be present when watching any episodes. Also about Billie Piper, it was a planned departure and don’t worry, we will see the effects of her exit throughout the coming seasons and I really recommend you continue since the next 2 seasons will 100% blow your mind more than this season
I'm not sure why Billie Piper left, whether at her request or because the producers wanted a new direction. What you should be reassured about is that Billie has gone on to have an amazing career both in television and on stage where she has won many awards for her work. This is all pretty amazing considering she had almost no acting experience before being cast in Doctor Who. Those who are old enough might remember her previous career as a pop singer (performing simply as 'Billie') an endeavour in which she also enjoyed considerable success; her first single debuted at number 1 in the UK charts when she was just 15--the youngest ever to do so. Anyone interested in seeing Billie in her former incarnation will find many videos here on RUclips including that first single, "Because We Want To'.
Again, I'm from the future so am very glad to know you didn't stop watching! Neither am I, I hope @3pharaohstowers (Legend!) playlist I'm using includes ALL your you tube Who reactions, another brilliant one, onwards I go! :)
There have been like FORTY companions since 1963. Everyone goes through this. Great stuff is to come, especially season 4. Yes Bilie wanted off the show, and went on to do other high profile stuff here. BTW There are other actors coming you might recognise from stuff (like John Barrowman) which will be cool.
Btw, I also started watching the show kind of because of the doctor/rose, so I was devastated about this. But truuuuust me, you're gonna want to keep going with it. Big pay offs!
An interesting thing to note, that I've never actually seen anyone else pick up on except my dad, was that this ending had some visual foreshadowing in the episode Tooth and Claw. In that episode, the Doctor and the Werewolf (or Lupine Wavelength Haemovariform, if you prefer) are both on opposite sides of a wall, listening to each other. The Doctor is even in pretty much the same pose. The Werewolf of course represents Rose, the Bad Wolf.
The start of waterfalls of tears brought on by doctor Who, get the big boxes in, because it's the emotional roller coaster, the best is yet to come. Wait till "when the doctor was me"
Yep, it got me again lol. I'm glad you're sticking with it. The ending was so sad, but to answer your question, as with everything DrWho, never say never. To quote a certain Pete Tyler, you can trust me on this ;)
I don't think you're being as clever as you think you are... thankfully I think she already knows the daleks return as I'm pretty sure she's seen s3 by now
@@Gxbbzee Well I think that would be a given considering one of the episodes is titled Daleks in Manhattan. Lots of things return including the Daleks such as the cybermen, santa robots, the ood etc etc. The best return of all? Spoilers.
@@Gxbbzee But as Shayla has already started watching season 3 she'll already know the Doctor fished a cyberman implant from Martha's ear in the 2x12 episode yet still comes back to be his companion. That was always weird to me, but I guess in time travelling scifi, thats what can happen.
Great reaction, you are really sympathetic :D I literally had the same reaction as you, I felt like I wanted to stop watching the show, after they separated. You really have to keep watching it though, even if your heart is going to break every now and then :)
Oh boy, I'm not sure if I'm ready to watch this scenes again hahahahah I remember the first time I watched it, the episode ended and I just cried for 30 minutes straight
You know what tugs at the strings the most is when Rose beats on the wall and yells/cries take me back!!! and then you see just how close and connected they become when she just stops and puts her head to the wall because she KNOWS he would be doing the same on the other side. Then of course they really had to rub it in with that extra bit at the end. And it makes you wonder if the doctor budgeted his time to cut out right before he had to say "it" And in retrospect after watching this show and seeing his generations would it have spoiled his overall character if he did? Though I still feel like Rose was THE companion he committed the most to. Just like how everyone says the 4th doctor is THE doctor. 2 seasons was waaaaay too short for her. But damn, did you see what she moved on to doing with her playing a call girl? Whew.
I may have cried...just a little.

Betty Georgieva Let’s just say I am very much in the minority when it comes to who my favorite companion is. That should give it away😆
@@crystald.6902 Did this companion first show up in season 7?
The series still brings you to tears...
"The Angels Take Manhatten" and "The Empty Child" [a two parter] are also great weepies. Both very well written
Genuinely beautiful emotion. I really appreciate your work and your clear love of something that means just as much to myself and so many others. Happy to have you amongst the Whovians.
Thank you so much!
One of us, one of us! Your hazing is complete. You lost your first doctor, now your first companion.
So excited to be here.
This was traumatic for anyone ever I think haha.
my most fave episode ever..I still cry when I watch it..good video
You cried, so it may sound a bit strange, but: What a lovely reaction! :) I like how deep you are into the show and in this case especially Rose (imho the best DW companion of all time). The series 2 finale made me cry too and so did your video now - thanks for that. ^^
Thanks for watching!
Me, a Veteran Whovian, long-since accustomed to the roller coaster and knowing what's coming: *Can't stop laughing at the feels trip Shayla's having! Even though it makes her feel bad for doing so*
ALSO Me: *CRIES ALL OVER AGAIN* OH RIGHT BAD WOLF BAY 😫😫😫😫😫😫😫
Don't worry, the show just gets better and better!
:) Everyone needs a Donna in their life.
@@bettygeorgieva7751 Yes, yes we do. 😆
Donna is the best. :)
Looking back on this reaction I was smiling while posting cause I was so excited to see my tears again lol. Wounds still fresh though.
@@JustSoShayla 😆 Yep! That's exactly the way! You hate it for how many feels it dumps in your lap, but you LOVE THE HELL out of it!
So excited lol.
For romantic chemistry nothing comes close to rose and the doctor.
@@dylanleff373 didn’t say romantic chemistry.
Whenever someone watches this finale, the Kleenex sales triple for a couple of weeks, i don't understand.
Bless you for crying, and everyone else who cried during this.
I’ll keep this short as I can waffle on, I LOVE this show, it helped me when I needed it and it continued to be a big part of my life since I was 12? When it came back, But I completely missed series 1 and 2, started midpoint series 3,
And I find tenants run PERSONALLY. The hardest to re-watch thanks to the bit of ‘love story’ but it defo broke people. (The exact reason, I had a friend called Rose, and my then friends would just draw it to doctor who. Every time. And never took it seriously. It’s a bit more complex than that but she was one of the first people I actually cared about...)
But watching the reactions - I’ll be honest, I had a few tears already so You beat me haha,
P.S. (I wasn’t originally gonna say this) but you look like a twin of a friend/former co-worker, in the way you talk, the only difference is voice, she has a higher pitched voice and a lisp (at least, with no offence, a harsher one than you might hear someone have)
...Come to think of it, she’s the only person I know with a lisp... Secretly I don’t have a sister who I might know? :D I’m just making that cannon for my own sanity.
All the Best
Stasis
This was a great reaction, Shayla. My heart broke for you. Wished I could give you a hug. We all felt the same way at the time too.
Still, you have a lot ahead of you to look forward to and I can't wait to see how you feel about those episodes. :) Even if Past Shayla did want to take a long break.
Thank you!
I feel your pain, girl. No matter how many times I've seen this episode, it breaks me every time.
As a lifelong viewer of Doctor Who (I grew up watching the original series on PBS from age 10 onwards) this happens a lot. Companions come and go, Doctor's come and go, one of the constants is change.
Good to know.
Hello Shayla. You should've gotten some tissues. Rose is gone, but at least we got a Bride. What?
This is the correct response to this episode.
I understand your pain, this episode crushed me as well. To think that the crying will come back...
:(
I'm just smiling seeing you suffering during those end scene XD
But at the same time, inside of me, just feeling regret, cause I will never experience of every reactor when Rose leave the show
I know the show because of RUclips clips, so yeah... I never knew spoilers during my 14 years of living...
Series 9 is like my first ever real series...
Aw shit, so sorry you got spoiled.
@@azizuladnan2957 That was me with GoT so I get you.
Watching how you said about Donna, that you dont care about her makes me laugh, cause of knowing whats gonna be next XD
I love your reaction videos so much
I watched the first few seasons of doctor who probably when I was at my most hormonal and emotional age, and I think I cried at nearly every single episode of the first 3 seasons lol. I definitely cried the hardest at this season tho.
The finale that ripped our collective hearts out and curbed stomped them.
Also, being the Doctor’s Companion is a hazardous occupation. You've probably figured that out by now.
14 years later and this still breaks me...
“THIS IS BULLSHIT” i cant stop laughing at that. I cried just as hard as you
You cried just as much as I did the first time 😭 Billie Piper did indeed choose to lose the show. Her reasoning is she didn’t want to get too comfy in that position because she loved it so much.
Honestly, after this episode I boycotted the show for like a few years before I finally tried season 3 😭
and what did you think of season 3 then? and what is your favourite season of all new who? mine is season5 and 6
I took a three week break and it was needed!
@@JustSoShayla hey I love your reactions, what days do you upload them? xx
@@eleven5885 I upload 2-3 times a week with DW. One week will be every Friday and Sunday, then the week after that will be every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Since I just posted three this past week I will upload today and Sunday, hope this makes sense.
okay thank you xoxo@@JustSoShayla
Yeah. Doctor Who will legitimately fuck you up sometimes. I’d recommend a box of tissues be present when watching any episodes.
Also about Billie Piper, it was a planned departure and don’t worry, we will see the effects of her exit throughout the coming seasons and I really recommend you continue since the next 2 seasons will 100% blow your mind more than this season
same reaction i still have to that lol, she doesnt leave though, the dr has alot of friends
Loved that little wink with the doomsday 😂
RUclips is so fickle, you are now my favorite doctor who reactor, thank you. The journey is going to a whooper.
Wow thank you!
Please don't stop watching.....trust me, you WILL care again :)
I will!
the song DOOMSDAY in the end when she fly trough it is the best music in tv history for me
That is a proper reaction to this episode!
Wow! My awe of Billie Piper is now higher, thank you for sharing!
She did choose to leave the show voluntarily. She left the show to do the show called Diary Of A Call Girl.
I have already seen a lot of familiar faces.
Oh my god. That's- heartbreaking and so clever.
The start of waterfalls of tears brought on by doctor Who, get the big boxes in, because it's the emotional roller coaster, the best is yet to come. Wait till "when the doctor was me"
9:57 Oh you will, Shayla, YOU WILL. 😬
Aaah - hugs from all your Dr Who fans - we're there with you!
Spoilers.
@@mrbrit1218 I hope to god she doesn't read comment replies, lol
@@Gxbbzee But as Shayla has already started watching season 3 she'll already know the Doctor fished a cyberman implant from Martha's ear in the 2x12 episode yet still comes back to be his companion.
That was always weird to me, but I guess in time travelling scifi, thats what can happen.
"it's Doomsday" (Wink) so adorable 😂
Watching this made me feel like I was 5 years old watching it for the first time
Great reaction, you are really sympathetic :D
I literally had the same reaction as you, I felt like I wanted to stop watching the show, after they separated. You really have to keep watching it though, even if your heart is going to break every now and then :)
Awe thank you :)
Oh boy, I'm not sure if I'm ready to watch this scenes again hahahahah I remember the first time I watched it, the episode ended and I just cried for 30 minutes straight
I was a wreck.
“I don’t give a fuck about you” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
idgaf about you-2 seasons later, NO Donna! you can't leave!
Whew.
Imagine if Billie kept her fingers crossed while reading the script and when she found out about the ending...
It's my headcanon that Bad Wolf stepped in for a second to stop the doctor from finishing that sentence, because it wasn't time for goodbye yet.
