Doctor Who is a long-running British science fiction television series produced by the BBC. The show follows the adventures of a time-traveling alien known as the Doctor, who travels through time and space in a TARDIS, a time machine disguised as a blue police box. The show has had several actors play the role of the Doctor, including Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, Jodie Whittaker, and Ncuti Gatwa who is currently portraying the 15th Doctor. The show has explored a wide range of themes and topics, including politics, social issues, and science-fiction concepts. The show has also introduced iconic villains such as the Daleks. Doctor Who has inspired a large and passionate fanbase, and has been the subject of numerous commentaries, video essays, and retrospectives. This paragraph is absolutely just to get some tags into the description. Hope you enjoy the video though. #Justinfication

I love how this is the only episode I can think of where the Doctor isn't just sad or angry at the end, he's genuinely traumatised
I think this episode is a great demonstratoin of why the Doctor needs a companion. When he is on his own, random strangers can't accept him or his skills. The companions are the connection he needs to other humans.
After the 60th he gonna need an entire decade just to get over this one incident. Our poor traumatised boi.
@@loosilu yeah, the titanic episode demonstrated sort of the same thing
@@IdentityDoesntMatter yes! The companions are always friendly and connect easily with strangers.
@@loosilu ya agree 💯
"I hate people" is absolutely the correct response to this episode.
You should watch "Blink" next.
I used to be somewhat ignorant of the world, so when people behaved like this in media I always thought it was characters being stupid for the sake of the plot i.e. lazy writing.
No, people really are like this. All those stories in Classic Who where the otherwise good people are manipulated by one guy in power to do something bad? Only unrealistic part is the people weren't giving them full support from the beginning so they needed to be manipulated in the first place.
People suck.
Though it doesn't mean I enjoy the episodes any more than I used to. I just don't like these character portrayals for a different reason now - they remind me of real people's s***y behaviour.
No, do some of the 2 parter episodes or go for variety. Trust the writing. Don’t waste all the most obvious episodes first. They’re in the order they’re in for good reason.
That's a great one. Another great one for newbies is The Girl In The Fireplace.
@@alansmithee419 Very true. I suspect this episode was based on classic Twilight Zone episodes. The one I would recommend to you is The Monsters are Due on Maple Street. It's a study of a small group of people in panic, and turning on each other.
Blink is a great introduction to the weeping Angels however, I think an episode that does it much better Is either the time of angels or the Angels take Manhattan.
The doctor realizing no one knew her name kills me every time.
The Doctor wasn't in charge because he needs his companions to humanize him. This helps others accept him. He needed Donna.
And David Tennant is one of the greatest actors there is. He is so amazing on stage.
Real and true!
@@StubbyandShifu so true! This is a rare ep in which the doctor is alone. When someone asks why he needs a companion, this is a great episode to demonstrate why.
That 'because I'm clever' line really highlights that. He isn't really understanding their plight, he can only act as if they should just shut up and follow his lead without question.
And she would have stayed with him till the end of all time! 😭
Blue comment on RUclips since when?
"Donna is a slay girlyboss and the doctor is a loser nerd" CORRECT
Real.
The best description I've ever heard of David Tennant's Doctor. 😂
The fact that the entity stops repeating when The Doctor says "You need me!" is so terrifying, because I think it fully agreed. It realised in that moment that he was by far the greatest threat onboard and that it needed to get rid of him.
i think you can hear it still saying you need me deep in the background.
@@SewerrRattz i think the original comment meant it stopped repeating others at that point because it had agreed with the doctor in that they needed him
Sci-fi haters about to become horror haters after this one
HAHAHA VERY TRUE
"He is cute" ahh the tenth doctor crush canon event 😂😂💖💕
Real.
One thing, the Hostess _wasn’t_ out of line. She said if it came down to it, she would be the one to send ‘Sky’ out, and she did. The Doctor’s desire to spare the strange new life form was taken advantage of, and it _about_ got him licked for trying to help it.
Valid and true!
The Doctor is, above all else, a tourist.
He's essentially the A-team or Knight Rider, he wanders in and saves people through cunning and some light violence.
But he's not a fugitive or a secret agent, he's a tourist.
Part of what makes Midnight so great is that it's barely a sci-fi episode. The plot and characters are versatile enough that they could be ported to just about any setting and it would still be just as effective. Which makes it a good episode for on-boarding people who might not traditionally be into sci-fi.
It's like classic Twilight Zone episodes. The writing was so tight, they had to tell a compelling story in only 30 minutes. And this episode clearly borrows from some of those TZ episodes, especially The Monsters are Due on Maple Street and Will The Real Martian Please Stand up.
Additionally, it’s a companionless episode, which lets one get used to the doctor without having to pay attention to a major side character.
I’ve heard that Midnight and Blink are two of the best episodes for newcomers to start with, and I highly agree because they represent the dichotomy of the show so well; Midnight has just the doctor in perhaps the most helpless moment of his life, at the whims of the panicking passengers, and a relatively simple narrative. Blink focuses on two flick characters, with the doctor calling the shots in the background, and introduces the enemy that perhaps has the most potential narrative complexity.
@@thedarkbard It's a great episode to show people why he needs a companion.
@@loosilu agreed.
8:06 a small detail that I love in this scene is that the music cuts out after the Doctor says "because I'm clever" (which, to me, helps emphasize the weight of those words and how it just made the situation worse for him).
Your friend who went. “Uh, Merlin!” When she saw Colin , made me laugh because she was basically a very low energy version of me when I saw him in this episode for the first time. My reaction more or less went “Uh, Merlin! OMG! He’s in Doctor Who!”
LMAOOO!
Lol xD
100%
The crazy thing about this episode is that, we do not know what was in that planet, The Doctor did not solve the mistery and did not fixed it, it's still out there and it will try again, and it will succeed.
What I absolutely LOVED about this episode was all the things in the end that were left unsaid. All the true feelings that came out of everyone that they cant take back. For example, Dede will never see her professor the same way again and may even report him. The professors fear that he's actually not that smart and he cant hide it anymore. His reputation may be tarnished. The married couple and how the wife dosent respect her husband. Lastly, the couples son now knows how they feel about him and how his parents are monsters when thier afraid.
This episode shows pure human nature at its core when civility falters while also challenging you with the idea of something stealing your very identity. How would you or even could you fight back? Fantastic writing!!
It doesn't show human nature at its core. It shows how people can react during a crisis when not properly prepared to face said crisis.
I disagree about it showing human nature at its core. Human nature is both this and also the opposite. Instead, it shows what fear and mob mentality can do to people when they aren’t prepared, and how none of us are above this kind of behaviour. It shatters our high standards of ourselves but is not the ‘core’ of human nature. Humans are also kind and empathetic by nature, it’s very circumstantial
It is mentioned in the episode but it was also confirmed officially that the entity plays on and enhances the worst aspects of your personality and enhances the stress and strain you feel to manipulate and control you. From the Doctor’s pride and arrogance and fear of losing control, to the various flaws of the other characters. Of them all dede was the least affected because she was somewhat innocent and humble of heart, though she wasnt totally immune!
Honestly this episode is a total masterclass!
Donna is at a spa, having a spa day, not just sunbathing.
Normally humanity inspires the Doctor with their bravery and fundamental goodness. This was the day we let him down.
Yes, but even in this one, there was still those few who acted against the majority. Someone does the most noble act possible of sacrificing themselves for others through their sheer will to do what's right. So while being disappointed in the group, he would definitely go away thinking more of the one who saved him and everyone else
Meanwhile, in torchwood:
One of the best episodes of Doctor Who that I never want to watch again.
This (and Turn Left) feel like dry runs for what RTD would do with Torchwood: Children of Earth, one of the most soul crushing bits of television I've ever seen.
Children of Earth was horrific and brilliant. An absolutely brilliant look at human nature.
Oh I have the opposite reaction to these 2. They’re so good I love rewatching them. But one obviously can’t watch Turn Left without context.
@@IslesYankeeLady Midnight is fine for a stand-alone, but you’re right that Turn Left can’t be seen out of context. I don’t think OP was recommending Turn Left though. Edit: Just reread your reply and I think I was the one that misread your point! Sorry.
I wanna see them react to heaven sent but i feel like it wouldn’t hit as hard without seeing the rest of season 9
Yeah I had the same thought, I guess we shall see!
Yes it's obviously a sensational episode but hard to get the full effect without the context. I always think Mummy on the Orient Express is the best standalone ep for 12/Clara seasons.
Unfortunately, most of the best doctor who episodes don't have the impact without seeing the rest.
@@SnowLily06 thats just a problem with the nature of the show, since every season has over arching plot which ends up becoming the main focus toward the end, like with rory and amy, the crack in time etc, those later episodes in the season never hit as hard unless youve seen the stuff building it up
Russell T Davies and his work for writing the tenth doctor is phenomenal. He's able to really show off the doctors personality. He isn't just fun loving, he's sometimes obnoxious or cruel. Which is why he needs a companion. To hold him back. Because ultimately, he wants to be good. Sometimes it feels like the doctor is more human than any of the human characters. I love this show so much. It really does make you think about how you perceive or take in the world.
Awesome video by the way!!!
I think everyone is right, Blink is definitely a good episode.
Can't wait to see more!
this is why i really liked turn left as an episode, it showed you how donna really was so much more important to the doctors story than she realised, and in the end, it harks back to that age old BAD WOLF from the rose arc of the show, that bad wolf moment sent CHILLS down my spine "donna, what was her name" with PANIC all over tennants face. hit super hard with the knowledge of what bad wolf was, super dope, prolly wouldnt hit as hard for these guys though
Perfect reactions all around. I remember when I first watched Midnight as a kid and the horror just sat with me for so many years until I was able to bring myself to watch it again and actually appreciate the content of the episode. Great vid!
I don't know if anyone else has suggested these, but season 5's "Vincent and the Doctor" and season 8's "Mummy on the Orient Express" could be good on-boarders for Smith and Capaldi respectively. They both work well in isolation, and show off some highlights of their respective Doctor's.
I second both of these for the wheel!
Yes these 2 are great
For me, if I want to introduce Smith, I'd personally suggest 'The Eleventh Hour.' Despite being his debut episode, the story managed to flesh out the personality and the capability of the Eleventh Doctor.
Two bangers!
@@cyan0984 Perfect intro to Smith. The first five minutes are all time classic. And what better episode to flesh him out than his first one?
"The Girl in the Fireplace" is another Dr Who episode they should watch. And I know it's a 2 parter, but "Empty Child/Doctor Dances" should be on the list as well.
Ooh good picks!
Yo this episode, those three and Blink are in my top ten DW episodes
I really love Empty Child/Doctor Dances all around but I do think they really fumbled the end into a "The Power of Love wins again" when they really didn't need to. They'd need to adjust like two sentences at the end to make it way less cringe imho.
The only time when the Doctor was absolutely damn traumatized
I’d agree this was probably the encounter that traumatised him the most, but 42 was probably a close second. There is another but it’s a major spoiler if these folks haven’t seen it yet. There were also some heartbreak moments which were a kind of trauma in a way.
David's eyes do a ton of the work, and (at least to me) made him the perfect Doctor (though Smith had that strange steampunk librarian flair to him). Depending on his expression, David's eyes look like he's in his 20s and full of life, or someone in his hundreds, exhausted, shellshocked, and forcing himself to go on.
I think my favorite episode when it comes to David's acting is the two-part Human Nature and Family of Blood episodes. There is a crazy amount of heart in them, you get to see him play two vastly different roles, and he has to deal with a battle between them, as well as the consequences of his own interference in lives that he tore apart.
Midnight is a master work of psychological horror. Not just because the monster is an ingeniusly terrifying concept, but the characters we at first like all slowly become monsters themselves.
I would love to see reactions to Dalek and Blink in the future.
Nobody has pointed out that the 'Professor' is played by David Troughton who al9ng with his half brother Michael are the son's of 2nd doctor Patrick Troughton and have both bern in the show - in fact this is David's 3rd appearance....
Michael and David are full brothers. Their parents are Patrick and Magaret Dunlop
@@robalexander8065 Half brothers according to Michael's book iirc but happy to be corrected if wrong.
one of the few times where he is beaten, not only beaten, but completely defeated, only reason he survived is because of the stewardess
Watching this as a kid when it first aired on BBC was terrifying and chilling to the core - just the ending thought of 'oh my god people are the absolute worst'. And then Turn Left showed the next week. If you think Doctor Who is just for kids, you have not been paying attention.
Not for kids solely but definitely for families.
The Waters of Mars genuinely left me feeling unsettled when touching water for a few days. Got to me more than Blink did.
we NEED more episodes like this. Doctor Who does cosmic horror so well. Seeing the Doctor, the character we know knows *everything*, absolutely terrified and not in control of the situation makes everything a million times scarier
I love this episode because it’s one of few times that The Doctor loses control over a crowd and struggles to get them to listen to him. I’m normal circumstances The Doctor can step up and take control of the situation, get people to listen to him and make up a plan to get everyone to safety.
But this is one of those times he can’t. And even in situations where he struggles, his companion can usually step up to help gain their trust. But because Donna isn’t there to smack people upside the heads and shout at them for being stupid, that doesn’t happen. And because we rarely ever see this happen we know how serious and scary the situation is if The Doctor can’t get people on his side, gets taken over by the Alien and is seconds away from being thrown off the ship. It’s tense and it’s terrifying and Doctor Who at its best.
You need an episode with Donna and the Doctor before Wild Blue Yonder. They need to see the chemistry before it gets thrown out of whack. I'd say Fires of Pompeii is great for that. Unicorn and the Wasp if you want something that isn't necessarily considered a masterpiece by the whole fandom, but still a whole lot of fun and forty minutes of perfect Tennant and Tate chemistry (My favorite episode, too).
Just a small detail that I noticed, when Sky who get's possessed she touches the exterior door seal which earlier the hostess tells everyone not to touch perhaps this was a weakpoint that allowed the midnight monster in? Perhaps the midnight monster was using the bangs and fear to take her away from the safety of the centre of vehicle towards the most exposed area?
This ep is Lord of the Flies all compacted into a single episode. It’s fucking brilliant, not only in how masterfully executed it was as a short horror story, but how different it was from so many other amazing yet prototypically structured Who stories.
Couldn't agree more! Thanks for watching!
It's Twilight zone The Monsters are Due on Maple Street along with Will The Real Martian Please Stand Up?
Ugh this episode is one of the very best because it shows humanity. I think it’s interesting that the two people who recognized the issue were those two ladies.
“She’s taken his voice!” Really says something about two people who weren’t listened to. They recognized it.
Absolutely!
At exactly 1:33 you can see that they forgot to edit out the greenscreen. I can never unsee it and now neither can you
WOW.
Chill satan
I've watched DW all my life AND NEVER NOTICED THIS
@Slblufc wait till you hear about Matt Smith's visible script in Day of the Doctor, and the set light visible in the tardis at the end of Doctor's Daughter
@@friday6448don’t forget the boom mic that takes up almost half of the whole frame in Hell Bent when the original TARDIS materialises around Clara
Why is hearing peoples high praise for something you love like the best thing ever lmao
@@ND-kh5yw so real
They should watch Fires of Pompeii, i always thought it was an amazing introductory episode
This is the episode that got my friend into the show
And Capaldi is in it!
This is what mind control in scary sci fi should be. It makes anyone helpless. No matter how strong your will is, no matter what gods you believe in, no matter how moral or clever you are... it is all 100% irrelevant. That all gets taken away and you are controlled as surely as if you are put into a steel box and carried away. It's not a metaphor for addiction, or peer pressure, or inner mental conflicts; it's mind control.
Well said. The Doctor has telepathy. It’s a known fact that telepathy if powerful enough can control minds. But if you have something else with stronger telepathy, it can be reversed. He may of been trying to use his telepathy to figure out what being was inside her but once the door was opened between them the other being stepped through into his mind and took him over.
This episode is terrifying to me because I've seen this happen in real life. There was a scary event, that we all saw, and over the next few minutes everyone convinced each other that what they'd seen hadn't actually happened. And I was the only one remaining consistent. This is the reason why courts don't trust eye witness testimony any more.
He's waited so long. In the dark. And the cold. And the diamonds. Until you came. Bodies so hot. With blood. And pain.
I’m just about to watch a reaction of “Vincent and the Doctor”, an episode you should add to the wheel along with “Blink” and “Heaven Sent”
I'll add some to the wheel!
@@Justinfication Good man. I actually thought of suggesting “The Day of the Doctor” after I’d posted that comment, but that’s probably better after the others have REALLY gotten into DW. It’d be good to keep that on the back burner for them.
Vincent and the Doctor is such a brilliant episode, probably one of my favourites from Matt's era!
@@MrDarkwing78 the day of the doctor is honestly still a really enjoyable episode to watch without context and I know many people who have and enjoyed it but yeah I'd say you're right in it being better with context, especially for a reaction
@@stormagedon3852 Wow, that’s weird! I thought for a second I’d replied to myself somehow, because I used to use variations on Stormageddon on some sites! Love the name, mate!
Also can we get a "Waters of Mars"?
On the wheel!
This is almost like an anti-Dr. Who episode and it's done so well. Usually, the Doctor comes into a dangerous situation, gets people to trust him by being clever and helpful, saves the day, solves the mystery, and ends on a hopeful note. This episode, the more he tries to be clever and helpful the less everybody trusts him, he becomes so helpless that someone else has to save everybody, we never figure out what the creature was, he ends up totally traumatized, and that final punch in the gut that no one knew the hostess's name leaves you contemplating the worst traits of humanity.
Honestly, the thing I love and hate about this episode is that it’s the Doctor’s own hubris that almost does him in, in the end. And not having Donna there was so key. Not only because she could have saved him from the mob, but because she might have kept him grounded enough not to goad that creature into choosing to steal HIS voice. Great episode!
They should watch the first angels episode with Sally sparrow.
I bet Blinks been recommended hundreds of times by now, but I'll say the same.
If it's not on the wheel already, put Blink on it.
Added to the wheel!
It is btw. one of the hardest episodes from that era they had to make - mostly, because it required a lot of work to sync up all the voices properly.
you gotta add ‘the giggle’ to the wheel it is Such a fun episode
Added it!
This is gonna be an amazing watch!
You should get them to watch the empty child 2 parter!
Ooh that's a good choice
I read that as timeless child and thought "oh that's a controversial suggestion" 🤣🤣🤣
@@SeeJay81 omg no!!! 1E3 😭🤣
Ahh yes. Doctor Ten. The Doctor that made an entire generation count shadows, afraid of Copy Cat, and wary of statues.
The absolute BEST thing about this episode is that zero questions were answered.
midnight is legitimately one of the best individual episodes of television ever made. not to even mention most of it takes place IN ONE ROOM! phenomenal writing, direction, the whole thing. absolutely fantastic.
1. There's a reason this episode is widely considered among the best of the Tennant era and even Doctor Who in general.
The cast is phenomenal, the writting brilliantly explores mob mentality and how just a few stupid/ignorant people who are scared can turn an otherwise logical group into a violent force in the desperation to survive.
And, yes, it was only a few.
Two specifically: *Jethro's parents* ;
His father was short-tempered & shortsighted and his mom kept panicking; escalating the situation.
Everyone else tried to make the best of a bad situation:
*The Hostess* was pretty on the ball, recognising the threat immediately, making a fair point in saying that, for all they know, the Entity can spread like a disease & that it isn't smart to let it reach civilisation. And in the end she sacrificed herself to save The Doctor and get rid of The Entity.
*Dee Dee* was scared, but tries to stay rational and was the one to figure out what was actually happening.
*Professor Hobbes* had quite the ego and was cowardly, but he generally tried to de-escalate the situation. And was the first to say no to the idea of killing anyone.
*Jethro* was the most observant & normal and actually took The Doctor's side until his parents shouted him down and MADE him take their side by gaslighting him.
Again, if it hadn't been for his parents the whole episode wouldn't have happened the way it did. It makes for an amazing story, but its frustrating knowing there are people *exactly* like them in the real world.
2. I also love how this episode shows how IMPORTANT the Doctor's companions are in situations like these. Having someone there to be the bridge between him and normal people who don't know who he is creates a layer of trust. But without a companion, the Doctor's experience and confidence painted a target on his back against a mob that didn't know any better. Something the Midnight creature used to its advantage.
3. What makes the Midnight creature even more terrifying is how little we know about it. All we know is that its some sort of ethereal entity that was trapped on the lifeless planet for God knows how long and saw this as its only way out.
And, honestly, its better it stay that way. The idea that we know so little about a creature that had, for all terms and purposes, defeated The Doctor makes it so much scarier.
So happy that y'all appreciated David's acting ❤ He's BRILLIANT
Okay, but I would say the most terrfying part of this episode is that, it's never revealed, nor do you see what the creature was that came onto the ship. It's quite literally left up to imagination. But yeah, such a great episode.
Your guys might be interested in knowing that, after she starred in an episode from earlier in this series, David ended up marrying the daughter of the Fifth Doctor, Peter Davison. They've been together for ages now, have had a few kids, and called one of the boys Wilf in honour of Bernard Cribbins, who played Donna's granddad Wilfred, he of the crying old man meme.
I love that they pointed out how well integrated the social commentary in this episode feels, because in the newer seasons it's about as subtle as a beached whale in a Walmart parking lot.
This is what made Tennant the best doc. He can go to funny to serious so easy and really makes u feel it
"You're a doctor of what, exactly?"
Off the top of my head, I could say he qualifies as a doctor of history, engineering, physics, and xenobiology. Probably a good bit of psychology as well, but maybe just a master's in that one.
Doctor of time, a lord of time, a lord of time.
one of the most important things this episode emphasizes is just how much the doctor needs a companion. hes smart. hes clever. but he cannot keep a group of scared people calm. and when people are scared they do horrible things
As a long time doctor who fan I've been seeking reactions to it lately as I get more into reaction channels, and this was not at all what I expected it would be in the best way possible, I loved being able to hear their opinions and how they interpreted things, as well as the predictions, it was so much fun. Definitely gonna subscribe for more like this! Keep up the awesome work!
Also, I want to say, the way things were explained by your friends at the end for how they felt and their final thoughts while you were gone getting your shot, it was so beautifully worded and is 100% how I also feel, so thanks to them for the validation lol
Thank you so much! Comments like these make me so much more excited to make more videos. A lot of content on the way! Stay tuned. 🙏❤️
This is one of my favorite episodes to show to first timers. well done!
The edgy teenager is like the third best character in this episode.
I forgot Midnight was this good, and before I finished the video I compared it to the 12th Doctor's episode called Listen (if I remember correctly) where Peter Capaldi's Doctor theorizes about a creature evolved to be the perfect hider and what that might entail.
that's a terrifying concept imo. can't remember if it was the Silence aliens, or something seperate, but either way, it's terrifying, because who'S to say that there is no Silence around in reality... if tehy'd have the same kind of abilities, we could never know/remember... paired with our instinctive fear of the dark and the feeling of getting watched that every single person i know has rather often, it's... rather scary.
This episode is fantastic because human nature is more of a villain than the actual villain of the episode
I'd love to see their reaction to a Christopher Eccleston episode like Dalek or the Empty Child 2 parter.
Dalek is on the wheel! Stay tuned!
this is either gonna be very funny or very scary and uncomfortable for them
How about both!
Imagine going from Ncuti and Jodie’s episodes - (Note I said episodes not Doctor’s, they did their best with what they were given) to one of the best Tennant episodes ever..
Whittaker's episodes were beyond dogshit dude, she's a good actor, but chibnall really fucked her over by stripping her doctor of personality and conflict. Ncuti Gatwa's episodes are leagues better but can't compare to ones like midnight. Though dot and bubble was really good.
The hardest moment in this episode was when they realized they never learned the stewardess' name 😢
Hey! Nice episode! Not personally one of my favourites but certainly a great showing of what the show can be like in less grand, more freaky moments than most episoes. Also, fun fact, this episode aired the day after I was born! (if it makes you feel old, I'm 16 now)
Oh dear god I'm ancient.
It not being one of your favorites disturbs me greatly.
This is brilliant execution of cosmic horror. Love this episode.
oh man i just found this and i love you guys, so many reaction vids out there but yall seem the most genuine and real. Im kinda in the same boat, never seen doctor who, but it always caught my eye every now and then. I finally started watching a few episodes not in any real order and its so nice seeing other peoples thoughts
Perfect episode for them to watch, "heaven sent" from the 13th doctor. Him in the confession dial on his own for millions of years.
Can't wait for 'em to see "Wild Blue Yonder" XD
STAY TUNED.......
My arms are too long. 🤫😉
I don't think it's worth watching without many other 10th episodes first, but if they watch like a dozen of his episodes first, I'd love to see them react to, "I don't wanna go."
Edit: Ah, The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit may be a good pair to start with.
This is a RTD masterwork! Glad your friends enjoyed.
I think they would also like Blink, Hide, Listen, The God Complex, or if you want to intro them to 2 parters I suggest Under the Lake & Before the Flood.
Fun fact when they were filming this they actually were all in like a capsule. They built it on set. They moved it by rocking it back and forth back and forth on like a machine. Or maybe it was suspended. I don't remember. It was like really overstimulating for a lot of the actors so they would have to take tons of breaks because it was it was in such a tight space Also, they would have people knock on the outside of a capsule but at random areas so even the actors wouldn't know where they were coming from. I would highly suggest y'all look up the behind the scenes footage cuz they do have it on RUclips. ruclips.net/video/52x793IX7_g/видео.htmlsi=Rck4_OmL3NjAprm-
Not sure if someone recommended it before, but this episode really makes me want to watch them react to "The Waters of Mars"😂
Added to the wheel!
I need yall to watch all of 9 and 10 in order!! Episode like Midnight and Journeys End gain so much weight when you understand his character and the story as a whole
They’ve got to see heaven sent
Omg you should make them watch silence in the library and forest of the dead next!!
If we start doing two parters it'll be on the list!
There is a reason this has so many views in comparison to others. Best era. Best episodes.
The Hostess is one of the bravest people we meet across all of Doctor Who and she's not hailed for her sacrifice or remembered 💔
I'd like to add besides how amazing the writing is in having human hysteria being the main enemy of this episode. But the fact that this was one of their cheaper episodes made, I believe people have talked about the green screen shown somewhere at the beginning or end of this shoot. And how this was done for what I believe was Donna's actor being absent for a few days. It's impressive what they were able to do in such a small room
Showing em 13 and 15 first is diabolical, lmfao
This reaction and episode is wicked tho for sure :D
"its not coming for you, jesus"
"ehehehehe"
😂😂😂😂
Need more RTD1 😊
I agree!
I grew up watching new who and hands down this is my favourite episode. Fantastic bottle episode with a fantastic cast. Amazing performances from Tennant and Sharp.
Couldn't agree more, it's amazing!
fingers crossed for 'Don't Blink' next
Yeah merlin is just out there having his best life while waiting for arthur 😎
this came up in my recommended. I love this video, love the concept and the way it's filmed. perfect length too, I watched the whole video. subcscibed
I’ve never compared this episode to among us before but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to unsee it now
HAHAHAHA
Now you need to add the Human Nature/Family of Blood 2 parter and the Impossible Planet/Satan Pit 2 parter to the list. When I think about the best Doctor Who episodes, it's always those and Midnight that come to my mind.
imo you should swap The Pilot for Mummy on the Orient Express as a more standalone 12th doc story! or even Flatline as a fun mechanic switch-up
some dr who episodes were truly chilling, this was one of them
I just love the complete annoyance with the professor dude at the beginning. Relatable I hate that guy. I love this ep but dont watch it often because it makes me so uneasy.
HATE THE PROFESSOR
You guys should watch Turn Left if you’re stuck with Tennant like everyone else.
This is also the first episode of DW i've ever watched and before i realized what show it was i downloaded on my phone and kept watching it over and over. It is so amazingly amazing, creepy and terrifying
It's criminal not showing them Capaldi. That man WAS the Doctor. The height of what that person was for some time.
I recall a video of someone pointing out a detail around where the guy is referencing that shifts in an odd way and I'm convinced it's the creature. Makes it that more fucking scary there really was SOMETHING out there to see
iIRC, its been, officially confirmed that the Stewardess was right from the start. This thing couldn't be dealt with by the Doctors standard methods. Throwing it out really was the only choice they could have. (Though considering it was out there before and got in, I'm not sure what was stopping it from just coming back in.)
It got in when sky accidentally opened the airlock
