Doctor Who is a long-running British science fiction television series produced by the BBC. The show follows the adventures of a time-traveling alien known as the Doctor, who travels through time and space in a TARDIS, a time machine disguised as a blue police box. The show has had several actors play the role of the Doctor, including Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi, Jodie Whittaker, and Ncuti Gatwa who is currently portraying the 15th Doctor. The show has explored a wide range of themes and topics, including politics, social issues, and science-fiction concepts. The show has also introduced iconic villains such as the Daleks. Doctor Who has inspired a large and passionate fanbase, and has been the subject of numerous commentaries, video essays, and retrospectives. This paragraph is absolutely just to get some tags into the description. Hope you enjoy the video though. #Justinfication

For the next Twelfth Doctor reaction, would you mind doing The Magician's Apprentice? It's a great series opener and character study, with a great companion that _isn't_ in awe of the Doctor and, best of all, features Missy.
The toughest thing about 12 is all his episodes are so plot focused, and its really rewarding if you're going through the series. Just doing one-off episodes never really ends well with capturing his era's brilliance imho.
Yeah agreed, although the series opener is probably the best choice for a one off, laying down the themes of the season, and the characters. It falls short tho because they’re all just introductions so it’s fairly surface level.
Thin Ice would be a great episode to watch, off the back of this one, I think the energy that Bill will bring to the whole rest of the season is captured perfectly.
I was hoping they'd do "Deep Breath." I hardly remember Twelve's episode, and I just rewatched that one; it was amazing.
@@HuntingViolets that one sorta doesnt make sense if u dont know the history between the doctor and clara..there would be no context for the tension
@@rawani.2097I wanted to like Deep Breath so much but the pacing is completely off, it's overlong, and, as you said, requires too much Clara backstory.
@@rawani.2097 I don't know; it worked for me and I don't remember most of Matt Smith's episodes either. But give me some Martha, regardless!
I think it it's a great indicator of quality of both the writing and your friends' ability to read media from just a short exposure, that just after a handful of episodes watched, out of order even, you were able to pick up on one of if not the most key roles that companions play in the show. "You make all of space and time your backyard and what do you have? A backyard. But you... you can see it. And when you see it - I see it" - Doctor himself says it.
The 12th doctor is my favorite and I think you should get them to watch time heist
As always, I'm recommending Human Nature/The Family of Blood for the first two parter to show them. I could talk about how good it is forever but I truly think they would love it.
World Enough and Time and The Doctor Falls, please!
@robalexander8065 While I'd also love to emotionally scar them, that two parter honestly requires a more thorough education in Doctor Who for them to receive the full impact of the story. I love that Justin is showing Tim and Fay the show, but the way he's doing it, jumping around sporadically across all eras of the show is amazing, since they are able to experience different and unique Doctors/Companions/Stories, but it also has considerable drawbacks since they won't have the necessary background knowledge to understand/appreciate basically any of the finales, or very story heavy episodes.
Which is why I think Human Nature/The Family of Blood is perfect because it will teach them so much about The Doctor with no prior viewing required.
@@robalexander8065 They've got to see other episodes with "those two" in them first.
"Is this a dream?"
"That's what the mask is!"
That got me
I think a 12th doctor story that works as a mid-series jumping on point would be Mummy on the Orient Express.
To me its one of those episodes you can jump in as your introduction and immediately get the vibe without any heavy plot focus.
You very much need to show them Mummy on the Orient Express.
Partners in Crime
Partners in Time!
Yh but it's gotta be after the runaway bride
Bro just said "I don't even have object permanence" 😂😂😂
LMAOO
Finally Capaldi! Would love to see more
I think Flatline would be an excellent introduction of Clara's character, if you want to do her next. That episode above any other is an exploration of Clara's emulation/imitation of the Doctor & is the only thing any meta analyst needs to watch to get why it is that THEY are the Hybrid above any other pairing (being the Hybrid is not a good thing jdhfgjf). Clara really *is* the Doctor in that episode, manipulation and all, and the "we're too similar, too dangerous, together" idea is so potent when you fit THAT into your fundamental understanding of their relationship.... not that you want an essay on that, lol. My point being that it's a really potent exploration of Clara as a person & how she relates to the Doctor, and a lot of people get off on the wrong foot with her - Flatline, I think, would be an excellent character introduction for her.
also fucking everything about their banter in that episode. fucking hell. yes
My recommendation would be The Empty Child, Still somehow one of the scariest monsters going
That, and The Doctor Dances is probably my favorite episode with 9. Dalek is a pretty close second, and the finale's pretty strong too, but nothing tops getting to see the doctor's triumph that finally, after all this time, he got it right.
Bill has a bit of Donna about her, too. I wouldn't say she's 'constantly in awe' of him, and even in this introduction she takes the piss a bit
She fully calls him out sometimes
Honestly the talk about companions in awe is why enjoy clara quite a bit, because she fully takes it a step further by trying to emulate and be the doctor. She challenges the whole dynamic of the tardis past her intial debut season and since she is one of the more long running companions it makes sense as she progresses and the more she sees of the universe she begins to question and challenge the doctor and even begins to overtaken the doctor in some aspects
UNDER THE LAKE/BEFORE THE FLOOD PLEEEEASE
luv u justin teehee 🤪
Recommendation for next story to watch for each doctor
9. The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances
10. Silence in the Library/ The Forest of the Dead
11. The Time of Angels / Flesh and Stone
12. Under the Lake / Before the Flood
13. Rosa
15. The Devil's Chord
Their thoughts on companions sometimes feeling a bit samey is fair, but I really came to like this Tardis team over time. Bill's really good at asking questions, and I like how instead of always being like "What's going on??" she _actually_ seems to have watched a sci-fi episode or two and can come to her own conclusions. And as for Nardole, he's amazing. Having someone other than the Doctor who can fly the Tardis and do techy stuff opens up some extra storytelling options, and I love the Doctor having a non-human companion to talk to, which rarely happens in NuWho. And he's not afraid to give the Doctor shit or try to boss him around (even if it's mostly because the Doctor himself told Nardole to keep him on task). I guess it takes more than a single episode to appreciate the dynamic between the three.
Firstly, the Sydney CBD is back to front. Secondly, the area they’re standing in based on the vantage point isn’t a trendy daytime bar, is an apartment building and a fairly rundown lookout. Thirdly, Tim, no Aussie picked a fight because it’s the inner north. At most they would have threatened to sue before getting distracted evicting someone from their 8th negatively geared property.
I'm still waiting for Vincent and the Doctor
Before the flood and under the lake is still a brilliant way to be introduced to two parters and a brilliant Capaldi episode
If they really want a different dynamic between a Doctor and Companion(s), Classic Who is more variable in it's selection, but I also recognize that Classic Who stories take longer to get through.
A striking dynamic would probably be 4 and Leela, while a more fun dynamic would be 7 and Ace.
They are ready for some Classic, Justin.
There is far more variety in Classic. Show them some Sarah Jane Smith and 3 or 4. Or Leela or Ace or Tegan. Would love to see their take on a monochrome serial.
NuWho has broadly the same vibe for the most part. Classic Who developed with TV technology and the input of three times as many producers. NuWho is the Fitzroy Tavern vision of Who. RTD, Moffat and Chins were all Fitzroy regulars.
Could always go for some two-parters: Edge of Destruction, The Rescue, The Sontaran Experiment, Black Orchid, The King's Demons, The Awakening, The Ultimate Foe. If you felt REALLY brave - K9 & Company!
Awwwwww take me back to 2017 even with drama and chaos going on The Pilot i bearly crued tears of joy when it aired such a great episode such a brilliant series! But my days ....this was 8 years ago! Nearly a decade and thus episode looks more gorgeous than most entertainment media today !
They need river all of her story
The best Doctor.
Period. 💙💙
Loving all your guys reactions cant wait for the hell bent reaction its going to be amazing going to need some big brain time for that, one thing if i could ask if you dont mind you should clip the end of face the raven where there hes proper angry and fay and tim will get why hes going on a rage
now they know Bill… you know what you must do
Love 12, Bill and Nardole. The series has yet to adequately replace this marvellous trio.
There general opinions on The Doctor and The Companions so far seem to be.
The Doctor: they like 15, 10/14 and 9, they are okay on 13 and 12, they don’t like 11.
The Companions: they like Ruby, Rogue and Donna, they are okay on Amy, Joy and Bill, they don’t like Rose.
And the ones I didn’t mention I’m not sure about there opinions on.
Bill's intro is a good choice. The Dalek sequence was the pre-season teaser, to introduce Bill to the audience, waiting for the new season to start. Now you're primed to show another 12th Doctor episode. Maybe one with Clara (where she gives him a bit of grief, and they have some back & forth), or may another Bill one. Maybe even a Missy episode, I think they'll love Missy. It's a shame you don't do 2 parters, since most of the good Clara ones & the Missy/Bill/Nardol Cybermen story are 2 parters.
What did they think of Capaldi's TARDIS?
Thinking it back, it make sense. You can't encapsulate one incarnation based on one episode...
So they have to watch more episodes from incarnation
However, the problem lies with on what Fay and Tim preferred episodes...
Some episode is sad, some episode is crazy, and some episode is just plain weird. Each incarnations have at least all three of those, and we technically do not have the whole scope on what Fay and Tim prefer, cause every episodes differ in a way that each of those episodes are different genre...
Nice reaction, understandable for not liking an incarnation, you boht just only see a small fraction of these incarnation and their personalities~
Im not sure this is the episode to introduce Capaldi but sure.
This is the one people voted for!
@Justinfication I guess if thats what people voted for. But Mommy on the Orient express would have been better. I just think Capaldi's proformance is a bit stronger.
@@LewisBuck2005 yeah, I voted for this episode, but I definitely would've went for Mummy if it was the option. It's imo, the best introductory episodes to 12's doctor
@@andalilbitqueeryup I think that episode would be perfect.
@@Justinficationnot to be bitter but we weren't given the choice of Mummy on the Orient Express
I feel like people in the comments saying “this was a bad episode to watch as it requires to much context” kinda misses the point of our criticism at the end. My point was that BECAUSE of Justin showing so many different paradigms of how the doctor and companion play off each other it makes me feel like these two don’t add to anything or make me TO particularly intrested in watching more of them which is ironically not a conclusion I would’ve came to if Justin didn’t show me so many episodes.
Nah the people blaming the lack of context are smoking. There is only one thing that absolutely requires context to understand in this episode. It works as a standalone episode very well.
In my case, I just don't think it's that good of an episode, period. It works as a season opener, don't get me wrong, but it might not have been the best way to introduce the 12th Doctor. Then again, it's hard, because this doctor benefits from story arcs that go beyond single episodes, so choosing a single episode as THE introduction is difficult.
@@Mercure250there are certainly episodes that require tons of context but I don't think The Pilot is one of them. as you and a lot of other people have said there's nothing wrong with it per se it's just that there are stronger Capaldi episodes that can serve as an introduction.
there are a lot of great capaldi episodes, Heaven Sent is by far peak but i would recommend tackling a few other Capaldi episodes to get a feel for him first, perhaps Flatline, or Mummy on the Orient Express
YESSSSS!!!! PETER CAPALDIIII YIPPEE YIPPEE YIPPEE
3 minutes into the reaction and I realize why I really didn't want this episode to be their introduction to Twelve. it's a mediocre story.
also: asking for people's opinions when the pre title sequence is barely finished?
Justice for Mummy on the Orient Express!
Oh come on! I just watched this episode last night! At least Doctor Who is rewatchable!
When they and you have a massive amount of time (3 hours to watch and 7 hours - probably - to edit 😁) you can watch 'The husbands of River Song' and then go back in time like 6 years and watch 'The silence in the library' and 'Forrest of the dead'. IDK just suggesting things cause I know it takes a lot of time and sceduling. But I'll watch any reaction you give us with Fay and Tim.
It'd be difficult to find the time and plan that kind of thing but who knows, thanks for watching!
@@Justinfication I totally understand, no worries. I'll keep on watching.
honestly I think the best way to experience that character is the way that all of us did and so if anything start with Silence in the Library.
You know, now i think about it seasons 5, 6 and 7 part 1 are the only ones were there is so much building for other episodes, tha you have to do it in order. Its gonna be hard to show those episodes. And also almost of season 8 runs with you knowing season 7 part 2. Except for 2 episodes
Make them react to "Vincent and the Doctor". They might start to like Matt Smith.
Green and gold is also the Green Bay Packers in U.S.
Cheesehead with 2 sonic screwdrivers checking in.
what if she's supposed to be high when she first enters the tardis...
I think “Deep Breath” or “Flatline” would have been better episodes to get a better idea of the 12th Doctor. This story is very entertaining but definitely more entertaining to the people who have had a whole season to get well acquainted with his character.
10:04 Watch your back Tim..
i am patiently waiting for impossible planet/satin pit, I'm not a massive fan of Rose and 10's dynamic but i think its really cute in those episodes
My only complaint about this series is that I can’t watch more of it 😂
Mummy on the Orient express
Tim's my new favorite cause rose is his least favorite
why did you skip almost all of the episode at the end😡😡😡
Will you ever watch a classic who story, given how they tend to be just longer most modern episodes? If you ever do, I recommend earthshock...... It's the only classic who story I've seen, so it's the only one I have confidence in recommending
that's actually a very good story to pick. it's a very well done plot and execution.
you won't be familiar with any other classic Who stories but City of Death is a classic. One that other people might think is a bit out there would be The Pirate Planet from the Key to Time series.
Genesis of the Daleks or Earthshock would be great choices since the episodes include villains they will be familiar with.
@@Devlinator61116 how could I forget Genesis of the Daleks????? you give an excellent reason but that reason is actually a spoiler for one of the two you mentioned.
PLEASE DO THE WATERS OF MARS😭
the Waters of Mars is one of my favorite Doctor Who stories but it really requires the viewer having had built up a real connection to the personality of Ten. and that requires watching a huge swath of Ten's run first.
Slip them some spin off with Torchwood
id love t see them watch oxygen now
Perhaps soon!
Ooh good one as well.
Oxygen would be great. Especially going off of how they currently see the doctor companion relationship.
ITS HEREEEEE
Temp 1. Episodes 2, 7 and 8
Temp 2. Episode 1 and Christmas special
Temp 5. Episode 2
So when are we going to get a series reaction? Jumping around loses the build up, and most of the greatest moments of Doctor Who cant be fully understood in 1 or two episodes.
poompei episode pls?
Once more asking for impossible planet 2 parter
HELL YEA
I thought this episode was one of the weakest companion introductions of NuWho
Les goooo!!!!
They need Oxygen.
bad episode not enough australia
Yeahhhh some good ol' Capaldi! But... The pilot????? Puffffff, please watch Heavent Sent
This is what people voted for, power to the people!
That episode was on a poll, but people were against it. The comments agreed it required far too much context for how they skip around.
they would have to have watched the entirety of Capaldi's run up to that episode in order to really properly appreciate it. it would be a bad choice for the same reasons that some of the most celebrated episodes of Buffy are not ones to use to introduce someone to that show.
I think when I go to watch a single season of DW, I think I do pick series 10 more than any other. Its not my favourite series, and i think overall series 1 is a much better singlular one and done series. But when I want to watch a single series of good fun Doctor Who, I pick this one
It's a serviceable, feel-good season.
respectfully I disagree. I think series 10 has three outstanding entries: World Enough and Time, The Doctor Falls, and Twice Upon a Time. the rest strike me as mediocre. I think that the best season in terms of overall quality is series 4. Series 3 is also quite good and for Capaldi's Doctor I think both series 8 and 9 are excellent.
These guys don't really seem to like Doctor Who that much, maybe you should just let them be sci-fi haters?
The fun of it is that they really love some of these episodes, while others they just love for the characters. Also, when they don't, I, as a fan, find it quite interesting to hear what they have to say!
@@Justinficationok that makes sense actually
@@JustinficationI have enjoyed all of their reactions that I've watched and hope they are interested in continuing.
I would have gone with oxygen or knock knock, the dynamic between bill and the doctor quickly becomes a lot more like old college professor and his student after the first episode and less like deification.. knock knock just has fun doctor and bill moments, oxygen is just a straight up banger and it's got nardole around
Awful episode.
Very interesting! But you should do "Smith & Jones" and "Deep Breath."
First
You win!
Are you serious...
no i am an evil little jester
@@Justinfication I hate you Justin you're a goblin
Doctor who died with series 10
Prove me wrong
the proof is on bbc iplayer lad
@ I refuse to believe anyone actually enjoys series 11-13
There were SOME decent episodes during that era but it was mostly trash!
The Fugitive of the Judoon and the Haunting of Villa Diotati were excellent but yeah Chris Chibnall was a horrible showrunner.
@dwf12gamez58agreed but I have to admit that it's not *just* on Chris chibnall and Jodie Whittaker. I found most of series 10 to be mediocre but with tremendous high points: World Enough and Time, The Doctor Falls, and Twice upon a Time.
@ Peter capaldi’s final series still felt like Doctor who
Where as the whole of Whittakers era just felt like an imposter
